Tony Hinderman
Mark Twain dubbed it "The Gilded Age" precisely because of the way the vast majority of the population was being exploited while the very few lived in extravagant wealth and used their wealth to mask the suffering of the workers The analogy is gilding hard-earned Iron (The Worker) with Gold (The Owner), hence the Gilded Age

44 increase from 0 for unskilled labor is still 0; farmers take it on the chin again too! This is the period when the US democracy died
Comment from : Rich

Roman Legion
Laissez-faire brought the greatest long boom of all time in the US from 1870-1912 The fastest part of that boom, being between 1870s-1880s

While Rockefeller saved the whales from extinction with Standard Oil and greatly improved the lives of Americans, and the economic activity of the era essentially leading the way to the rise of a middle-class not bound to large tracts of land, we should not forget that other titans of industry slaughtered the families of striking workers with machine guns and drowned over 2200 people (wiped out 99 families entirely) by causing the Johnstown flood I would expect the Chinese Communist Party members to conveniently forget that sort of thing, not Americans

Loosing that position really quickly there America is very quickly becoming NOT the premier economy In fact, you could argue it hasn't been for a while now

adam lynch
this is not accurate history its point of view is in plain sight for everyone to see libertarian history revisionist garbage trying to convince working ppl that the rich getting richer is actually good them sure you slave for 72 hours a week but your living standard went up marginally isn't it great?
Comment from : adam lynch

Montfortracing
We can see growth without working 72 hours a week That's a lot of hours without seeing culture, family, church and society This video gives the false notion that you can't see rising wages without working long hours

Nathan McKenzie
Libertarians need more channels like this, where big ideas are summed up in short videos Would definitely help convert more Millennials who normally get their news and ideas from Vox
Comment from : Nathan McKenzie
