One of my biggest dreams is to go, maybe to live in JapanbrIt could be a certain cliché or something, but all started with my passion of animes, like Naruto, HxH, MHA,brThe backgrounds, the language, the culture ! Everything in Japan fascinates me, so even if it took me 4 years to learn Japanese, at least I could use those 4 years practicing to experience something really great in my life with JapanbrI’m Beatboxer, and in Japan, Beatbox is something known, not like here in Belgium where half of the time people look at me weirdly only because I’m a beatboxer hahahabrBut yeah, I have a friend, FootboxG, who won recently a Beatbox Battle in Japan (BeatXFes 2023) and as he said, it’s his best life experiencebrbrI can’t wait to have a stable situation and to take my first flight to Japan I really can’t waitbrbrThanks for this video, that helped me a lot and now I know from where I have to start brArigato !! sorry but even if i'm not that good at speaking or understanding japanese, i strongly disagree about the "anime/manga/entertainment without kanji" part japanese ha s a lot of words and terms that sounds exactly the same but have totally different meanings so even if you just aim at being able to watch anime and tv shows you still need to learn kanji to have an idea of what words you're listening to also sorry for the bad english btw Comment from : KennyFromHeaven |

When I first started on my own on doulingo, the app by default write in both, it didn't set well with me 😂 thankfully it has the option not to use it brbrAnd I have to say, I think that actually made me learn faster, not I can read hiragana, an some katakana not necessarily understand what's written yet though, I also been trying to read whatever Japanese text I see this also I think helped alot and made me notice my progress better brbrRomaji helps but I don't think it's a good way to learn Comment from : Crimson |

Why is it bad to have a foreign accent? We’ll never sound natives When you learn a foreign language you always have an accent After all a foreign accent can be cute Any way, with our European face, the Japanese immediately see we’re foreigners Comment from : IparIpaitegian IparIpaitegian |

I've been living in Tokyo for about 7 years My wife is Japanese, most of my friends here are non english speaking Japanese AND I worked for a Japanese co (only english speaker) I can hardly speak any Japanese except "bar" stuff like asking for more beer and no foam Im a really social person and don't have problems meeting new people but I'm so pained that I just can't seem to learn the language no matter how hard I try brPut some sorta tech in front of me or new graphics software, I'll figure it out on my own without a manual but totally lost learning Japanese brI learned counting to 10 easily by catchy children's song (which I still sing in my head if I try to say numbers to anyone) brAm I total lost cause? I watch a ton of Japanese shows (some no subtitles) I sat in hours long meeting in full Japanese and never lost my attention (to where a colleague asked me how I can pay attention so long not understanding anything via the usual google translate) It's so freaking strange Comment from : Steves VR Lab |

Im beginner to learn Japanese Pronounciation sound very much same in Finnish and Japanese, there is only few differeneces So if you are Finnish, learning with romaji is not that bad Ofc english speaking world they pronounce letters different than Finnish so they shouldnt do the same Also romaji is easier for very begin because obv reasons, i wouldnt never start straight to try learn hiragana but now i can do that after learn some basic stuff Try start learn from zero with hirakana or kanji is really hard and scary I may be totally wrong but thats is what i think Like i said, this is only for for my view as a Finnish speakerbrbrI still just started learning hiragana for purpose to learn read Japanese some day because reading is most efficient way add information from foreing language I never try learn write Japanese tou, i think i dont need it in the future brbrI did check little bit how kanji works but atm that is way too much for me even try learn that Maybe after couple more years (or more like 10y) i may try start learn that Now i focus add vocabularity, that seems to be issue for me because i have bad memory Anki helps some, but its still difficult remember so many new words English was so much easier because i learn basics in school when i was 10-16y old Learning is very hard when you are old Its still doable, it just take so long time That is my tip for younger people, learn everything what you can in younger age, before age 40, after that it really gonna be so much slower progress Comment from : Finnish view |

I don't quite get why my pronunciation would suffer whenever I would used romaji or not You don't read romaji 1:1 like in English in the first place, but read characters more directly instead like in slavic languages To learn pronunciation you should rather mimic how other Japanese people speak rather than how they write :) Comment from : Paweł Włodarczyk |
|
After learning hiragana, I've pretty much dropped romaji from the usual study rotation My katakana exercises were all done using hiragana as subtitles It worked really nicely brbrI'm now expanding my vocabulary and looking up kanji and how to write them has been a huge part of the time They're not super clear but I can see the many conveniences in saved space and telling between words that sound the samebrbrPhonetics hasn't been a problem, thankfully My native language is not English, so none of the phonemes have tripped me upbrbrAs someone eager to learn both for casual entertainment purposes, to know the country and its culture, and to understand as much of the language as possible (including technical jargon), the studies have been a ton of fun Currently focusing on grammar and syntax because I do better understanding a language if I know the logic behind itbrbrThank you so much for the tips, seems I'm on the right path 😊 Comment from : Dinner-Fork Tongue |

Stunning video! Many thanks to the author of the channel for the recommendations! The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike To really learn something, you have to really practice every day You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot's Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language" This book is always in my bag If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true! Thanks to the author of the channel for the informative and useful video! Your videos motivate me Comment from : Matilda Wolfram |

Some time ago I started learning Japanese and I do it because of my passion I'm self-taught, and it was difficult at first However, I quickly mastered Hiragana (Katakana is still difficult (^-^) and I'm starting to learn Kanji It's really cool because this alphabet allows you to learn Japanese culture (which is very important) and the history of this country And even if no Japanese wants to talk to me, I'll talk brPS The hardest thing about Japanese is the very disastrous similarity of some syllables, and that's the difference between "ts" and "s" like "suki" and "tsuki" However, once you master what I had as a kid because of movies and songs*, it'll be great! br*Anime isn't bad at all - it's just that the language we hear there is daily and “not real”, but when it comes to getting to know the accent, it’s so good! Also, these Hayao films are so beautiful(^O^) Comment from : Mononokë |

Spanish being my native languaje and it being a romance languaje (neo-latin languaje), I don't have the phonetics pronunciation issues English native speakers have with romanji as the sounds of the vowels don't have the same phonetics issues English has Seems Romanji has similar origins (latin), perhaps that's why Comment from : Josue Cortez |

wait im confused about the romaji bit, because learning hiragana it translates to 'tsu, fu mu yu' etc and you practice that so when you read hiragana it's put together like how ありがとう is pronounced as 'arigatou' right? isnt that romaji? how do you not use romaji to learn japanese? I appreciate all the tips brI started a few days ago and started off with the Alphabet - Hiragana to be exact, I plan on Katakana and Kanji as well I understand it can and will take some time to master them, but I'm ready for it! In High School, in Bosnia, I took languages, so I'm fluent in English, German and somewhat good with French and Italian So I find it natural to learn a language and Japanese has been my main target for years now, but never got the time to actually do it, until recently Comment from : Global Story |

Hey, I'm asking for advice from anybody I just started learning Japanese yesterday and have only memorised some hiragana along with some dakutens I'm watching this video as I progress further However, at around 7:33 - 7:53 I would not be comfortable with doing this Does anyone know of any substitutes for this? I was thinking that maybe if I listen to podcasts or use LingQ it could have the same impact as this, but I'm not sure I would appreciate help from anybody, thanks Comment from : Floretti |

Tips to learn Japanese more efficiently:brbr- Do NOT attempt to learn more than one language at once If in doubt, learn the one that you're most interested inbr- Repeat every letter/word/sentence out loud to get a closer pronunciation (tip from Teuida)br- Avoid trying to learn everything at one sitting to prevent yourself from forgetting wordsbr- Try to memorize kana/kanji stroke order for more efficient writingbr- If you feel unmotivated and/or tired, take a break and proceed your learning after a while and remember: you can do it! br- Watch anime and practice singing in Japanese They will help you to increase your vocabularybr- Try not to skip the difficult parts of learning They may be essentialbr- Get yourself a partner conversation or use Teuida!br- Use your Japanese knowledge in daily occasions (Example: whenever you're going upstairs, count every step in Japanese)br- After finishing your studying session, write out everything you have learned so far, physically (pencil and paper) or virtually (note pad app on phone/computer)br- Keep watching this video as many times as possible for days or weeks It is not possible to learn everything in a few momentsbrNow, I wish you, the reader, a very happy learning, do not give up and give it your all! がんばってください! 💪✌️ Comment from : 넬슨 |

I know it's probably a dumb question but as I'm learning hiragana I can sound it out and recognize the hiragana but I can't understand everything I read in hiragana just sound it out in my head currently is there anything I can do to better understand what I'm reading? I know it takes a long time to learn a language and I'm only about a week in I've now gotten to a point of remembering the sound of each hiragana and combination hiragana but I really honestly don't understand enough to read it as I do in English my native language though I don't plan on giving up as I really am enjoying my learning experience Comment from : Vigilant Minecraft |
