Hello, I found this totally helpful & totally understandable I presently have one 401k with former employer In that instance the force-out was prevented by vested contribution ammount I am presently vestingin a secondary 401k with a art time job that I have The 2nd 401k is from a part-time job In my eyes it is low-hanging fruit that will likely enhance my retirement Is it preferable to have multiple 401k's or to roll over an account upon leaving a job?

I have the same comment as Clayton I want to know HOW to withdraw specific to the taxes When I sell nobody will automatically deduct my taxes and send to the IRS? I have Traditional 401 rolled over when I retired I want to convert some pretax to post tax for emergency purposes (expat with no medical because it is as expensive as US premiums) Do I pay estimated quarterly payments without vouchers? If I sell during November/December do I just hold onto 28 cash for taxes?

If you are still working for the employer who holds your 401k, you need to check and see if they allow "in-service distributions" If it is not allowed, you can't get to your funds until your employment is terminated

lol what's point of saving? When stock market crash and your 401k, is still less after market recovery? Lesson learned you try to live as simple as possible and at retirement still have less money to live Better take out your money and decide to invest on your own or learn how to invest you will be better than stupid 401k

Withdrawing the entire balance in a 401k in one go, will incur a substantial income tax penalty Instead, transfer the balance in your 401k to a rollover IRA invested in a Vanguard mutual fund The tax and RMD rules for a rollover IRA are the same as a 401k Moving IRA money from one Vanguard mutual fund to another incurs no income taxes
