AJ
Just to add, that proper studio headphones usually tend to give a flat response in frequency so you get true sound when mixing and mastering music, so would be pointless in gaming setupsbrbrGaming headsets and cheaper studio headphones are more Hi Fidelity giving a more richer / colour to the different frequency ranges
Comment from : AJ

Mark Stemphoski
ohms are a measure of resistance not power
Comment from : Mark Stemphoski

Bat Man
No way a youtube gaming streamer will tell you to buy studio headphones which are far superior to gaming-headset garbage
Comment from : Bat Man

Iron Disciple
Would you recommend the audeze Maxwell's?? Even tho they are gaming headset are they still good quality on audio like a mid tier headphones? I'm between those if not I'll buy a good quality headphones the mic and maybe later on the amp

Syntax Error
The bad thing about Wireless headphones is that the frequency is 24 GHz, the same as your Wi-Fi band, so if you are on top of your router it can break or cause interference to your headset
Comment from : Syntax Error

ChedinBuilds Studio
I hate it when people use gaming headphones instead of audiophile or studio headphones This heavily applies to anyone choosing gaming peripherals instead of office or professional peripherals People nowadays hate professional quality and worship "gaming" and "competitive edge" fluff because they are corrupted by e-sports bulls
Comment from : ChedinBuilds Studio

Jimmy Quan
Gaming headsets must exist If they don't exist gaming will collapse If only studio headphones exist Not everyone is going to invest 200 $ for a Senheiser

The biggest thing you will notice going to an audiophile setup is the musical qualities and natural tones they will bring to the table Things just sound "better" I have been switching back and forth for years and other than the really high end gaming headsets ($200++) you will not get anywhere near the musical qualities of a $150 audiophile headset They are not crazy hard to drive but do benefit from an amp both in terms of volume level and sound qualitybrbrAnother thing is the long term durability of audiophile headsets, they are simply on another level and may last you years There are people using their original HD 600's for over 20 years with minor parts replacements Gaming headsets typically break on me in under 15 years usually due to the wire getting loose in the left earcupbrbrWhere gaming headsets win, besides price and simplicity, is IN GAME sound You see pros use HyperX series headphones in FPS shooters for a reason They just work Mids and highs are a bit boosted and you can really get a sense of footsteps and audio cues They are TUNED for this It is almost the opposite of what makes music sound good So choose wisely, or get both

Comment from : Reaper Actual Gaming

Darius Jablonskis
Only thing I want is headset with open back, wireless 24Ghz, with detachable mic and reasonable battery life I don't care about noise canceling, or other features I don't ever use Only headsets came close to this was Audeze Penrose which broke few weeks ago
Comment from : Darius Jablonskis

I’m sorry but there is no warmth out of the Arctis The gaming headphones are wasteful as well Wireless headphones eventually die or are not supported anymore Good headphones stay good brbrDon’t waste your money on gaming sets You’re paying for overpriced plastic
Comment from : nuk

Kaue Berto
Master, can i use the wireless artics nova pro as wired ?? Sounds like the wired one??brThk you
Comment from : Kaue Berto

Sl1ckR1ck
Audeze penrose is going to sound better than half of those “headphones” on that table
Comment from : Sl1ckR1ck

The Disposalist
I tried maybe a dozen gaming headsets - really abused Amazon return policy!brNone were near as good as using ATH-M50x and ModMic 3brI changed to use a boom PodMic and GoXLR recently, which has improved the mic no end, but I cannot find a headset to beat the M50x and I've tried a few nowbrRe Open back, I appreciate the soundstage, but they all tend to be too tinny or airy and, even when there is good bass, there are overwhelming midsbrI'd love to get 'better' than the m50x, but I'm not sure what to move tobrMaybe I should bite the bullet and spend some serious cash on something like the Audeze LCD-2? Hifiman Sundara?
Comment from : The Disposalist

Vlasihinn
Great video, thank you I have a question Will a gaming headset (wired) sound better with a good external soundcard and/or amplifier? Or if I buy those it'll be better to consider headphones with some mic solution I'm mostly playing games with my buds and watching some movies Would really appreciate your advice Thank you!
Comment from : Vlasihinn

some one
Most of the time when you use a pair of headphones you would be controlling the volume from the amp anyways Plus, if you want to change the EQ settings, it is better to go for a seperate software, which may do the job better
Comment from : some one

Wow! And I am learning, that my SS PRO WIRED have better sound than my wireless SS PRO NOOOW? I am putting them back on my table!!!
Comment from : Jan Smetana

Mark Davis
Been using ATH-M50 for 7 years had the ATH-M40 before and the Beyerdynamic DT 770 after which I did not get on with although they feel more comfortable like you just way too much top end I use the ATH-M50 for everything from music games, mixing and practising my bass guitar They get a lot of use and have held up well
Comment from : Mark Davis

Jayson M
What closed back headphones would you recommend for a max of $200? Will be using them on an amp and mostly fps, like cod, apex, r6

KING LUKE
ohm isnt how they are powered, its resistance less ohms allows more power, more ohms causes power to be restrictedbrbredit: imagine a metaphorical guy squeezing the wire making less power go through thats ohms, the higher number, the more they squeeze
Comment from : KING LUKE

Van Luong
Can you do a gaming review for Audio Technica M50x and the Sony MDR 7506? Both are the most used industry standard studio monitors Would be great to see how they perform for gaming I would imagine they are also used to design game audio too… Thank you! Help up the great work!
Comment from : Van Luong

Eddie Evangelista
Great video! Im not an audiophile but I am looking for a headset Xbox is my main console, I'm open to spend the money I just want great audio for my fps
Comment from : Eddie Evangelista

Kelvin Dijkstra
I'm curious about the other way around If you're doing a lot of mixing audio work, would you recommend a gaming headset over a studio headset?

How well does the meze 99 in-line mic work with gaming?
Comment from : Lukas

MacLeod559
I'm with ya on closed back I just prefer the isolation of a closed back Open backs have their perks like a wider stage but I prefer the isolation plus it's better for immersion IMO

Tech End
I played a lot with my sony headset, the sole problem is the mike that picks up breathing because it is on the cord So I switch to a gaming headset The mike went off after a year (probably because it felt while walking with the controller) So I am back to my sony something like the MDR-ZX310R Red It does the job for gaming, I wrap arount the mike a kind of protection I had for computer wires I would defenatly go for a conventional headset but I need some kind of device for the mic And you brought a soluytion with ifi, I'll look at that king of things, if it exists for the PS4 Thanks for this review
Comment from : Tech End

BlindGuardian050
I want headphones because I already have a standalone mic and don't need a mic

Leyton
He was being nice to gaming headsets If you're reading this just go for a studio pair of headphones and you won't regret it! I have been with gaming headsets for 7 years All it took was one pair of studio headphones - Never going back to gaming headsets
Comment from : Leyton

The Monkey King
Loved my Steel Series Arctis Pro wired headset That is until they broke apart in my hands because I had the audacity to try and take them off of my head Barely had them for two years Their sound may be top tier for gaming headsets but their durability is garbage I have an old pair of Turtle Beach headphones that lasted 8 years before I felt the need to upgrade/update Really gun shy about investing $200 + in something that's just going to break because of cheap parts
Comment from : The Monkey King

Dandeson
I just cried when you tried to explain what Ohm is😂
Comment from : Dandeson

Kyrious
I’m looking at studio headphones for the following reasonsbrbr- I don’t use any features my gaming headsets have usedbr- I want the extra strength studio headphone appear to have as I have a big headbr- I have a external mic alreadybr- I play PC primarily
Comment from : Kyrious

GUILLERMO RAFAEL BAUTISTA ROBLES
what do you think about the sound of the hyperx cloud flight S I hear are the best sound in g hsets and are very light and the confort of hyperx is already legend as the BMW are the best in the road everybody knows right ? there is one that sounds better like real better enough to change the confort ?
Comment from : GUILLERMO RAFAEL BAUTISTA ROBLES

Mike Roy
Hey Techne, just to continue the conversation I usually end up with a headphone and additional mic of some kind because all the wireless gaming headsets seem to have crappy mics and noise reduction ai on the mic that interferes with Voice Attack The problem is if you turn the noise reduction software off, the mic sounds like trash (Lately I've tried the Logitech G733 and the Asus Strix Go 24) The only wireless mic I've tried so far the works flawlessly with VA is the wireless mod mic, it's awesome, but expensive
Comment from : Mike Roy

mathew
It really depends on your priorities I owned an X2HR with an iFi Zen DAC and an external microphone (budget Fifine, sounds great though) and decided to sell my X2HR for the HyperX Cloud 2 Wireless and I’d say it’s worth it lol brbrIf you’re a streamer or someone that does audio recording, but I went with the convenience of wireless and I game with friends so it’s really not big of a deal I listen to a lot of hip hop as well so I don’t mind the muddy sound of gaming headphones I do miss the great sound of my X2HR but the convenience of wireless makes it negligible for me brbrMight probably just get a Hifiman or HD 58X in the future

I genuinely need help :D , I had Arctis Pro Wireless which were amazing and ticked all the boxes, but I wanted to upgrade to studio headphones, So I got DT 990 Pros and Sound Blaster GC7 AMP/DAC, after having it for 3 days I just don't feel like DT990's are giving out enough sound for my liking, Arctis Pro Wireless were much louder, and had clearer sound with EQs applied, I'm not sure to either keep 990's or get rid of them, I need some recommendation from person that used them both and has experience from what they sound like with a different DAC
Comment from : Lukas Pobereznij

Head_Hunter
as a 2 year user of the arctic pros, idk but there kinda garbage in the build quality, and i have a lot of bugs with them, for example they like to turn off and on randomly, they crackle all the time and if u use them well charging good luck, and don't come at me about oh its just that one u got, nope this is my second one because i thought the same thing, which is why im watching this video to move off from them, though i can confirm 1000/10 audio, when the audio works

Here's what I learned to NOT buy a "Gaming Headset" from a Headphone manufacturer (-cough- Sennheiser) I had terrible experience with their GSP 301 (budget/low end) They were 120 € The Mic was Great, Sound was good but damn the plastic cracked on both sides of the headband (resulting it also not holding the size adjustment) and also the earcups seams tore open (both sides on the inside) All that in less than a half a year I haven't even used them anywhere away from my desktop This was the Bad-kind of "Made in China" levels of assembly/material quality Very disappointed with them Me personally will probably not buy a single Sennheiser for the rest of my life
Comment from : Etency

Librook-GettMuney
I wanted a studio pair without a mic because I have a microphone itself and I didn't know if it would work with a mic already on the headset and trying to use it with a mic

Thunder Kat
The extra durability just pay for the extra price, but you do need to buy a microphone to go with the none-gamming headsetbrAt the end of the road I do see gamming headset catching up with studio quality standardsbrMicro-circuit getting smaller, small-capacitors becoming more affordable and powerfulthey will get there eventuallybrMid-range gamming head-set are kind of trash compare to low-end studio headset but the price and convenient is undeniablebrAt some point you get older and going for quality has to become a thing, life is too short to cut budget on something so meaningful to your audio experience
