I actually have a theory that New Super Mario Bros 2 is a prequel to New Super Mario Bros Wii which would explain that hence why it is called New Super Mario Bros 2 but is the third game in the series and a reason why the ice flower, propeller mushroom and penguin suit aren’t in the game but the mini mushroom and mega mushroom are because this game would happen after the first game but before wii in the timeline
