I am 74 I gave for the first time July 21stI did everything I was supposed to prior to goingate righthydrated a gallon and half day and 1/2 prior to donationI was so happy that CSL would accept my age so that I could help people with my plasma I of course read all materials, watched video, took test, and my vitals Saw the nurse and went forward 3 out of 😢 6 people in our little cove area had irregular machine activity The man in the corners vein started spuing out bloodthe lady and I sitting side by side s machines stoppedwe were told our blood was clotting and machine could not recycle our blood back into our bodies So were told to drink their bottle of Gatorade and after we finished were told to go on home The lady next to me called out twice that she wasn't feeling wellthe tech said they were short handed and some were leaving at 5 And we were deferred for 56 days from coming back deferred often means your blood is low on red blood cells so I've researched I slowly walked to car decided I'd feel ok if ate so made my way to a drive thru and ate a cheeseburger and hydrated with more water Got on interstate feeling capable and was in commuter traffic Up the interstate I was doing fine when suddenly felt violently Iill and knew I was going downscreamed help me to Jesus and knew nothing until I woke up in the woods having hit a tree and having vomitted all over myselfwoke up only because a man was knocking on the window My car is totaledI have very little injury sore muscles and alot of body pain But I know this donation caused thisI've never blacked out in my life and have a perfect driving record but now have a totalled car and bills and a deep feeling that others have died in car wrecks from this and did not live to tell the story so have called their owners in Boca Raton, Fla and made a full statement of complaint Whom have ignored meyet a worker at CSL called and harassed me saying I must not have hydrated or eaten right etc I am very heartbroken Kathy 6789861761 Comment from : Kathy Tillman |

Great video Zach! I randomly found your video donating today (roughly my 20th time donating) and I was always curious about the long-term effects when donating plasma I am a healthy guy that works out around 5-6 days a week while maintaining a healthy diet (4-5 meals a day) with higher protein and fats I haven't noticed any side effects so far with my lifting and cardio is still decent I would say if you are blike you pointed out in your video/b eating healthy, drinking plenty of fluids (water) you SHOULD be fine **not an medical expert** I would love to see a study done with more information on the long-term effects for someone who has donated 8 times a months for a year Overall, excellent video!!! Comment from : Jamie Carr |

I notice All plasma centers are lowering the amount now when you donate? Something is fishy? They are making a lot of money of regular donors 🧐 Comment from : Christine Allen |

8:01 brbrI recently started donating plasma 5 years after my negative experience I had the first three times I will say, the times I have donated, I have not noticed any major effects long term Just the common ones of course like fatigue, especially after the first donation One thing I have found helpful when it comes to the puncture site - rather than going in twice a week, I’ll go in at least once week and using Vitamin E oil between donations has helped make the puncture not as noticeable Comment from : Char Woernley |
|
Are u a qualified Dr blood person?? Comment from : Akal Demir |
|
Thank you for doing this video I’m a little nervous about doing my first session next week I have a pretty large looking veins but I went in years ago and they said I didn’t so maybe that’s changed I’m very healthy and I don’t bruise very easily I don’t know why am so nervous, but I want to help people and since you’ve donated quite a bit, I even feel more at ease because just looking at a website, it’s not enough to put me at ease versus someone that still needed hundreds of times TY Comment from : Jody Hakala |
|
FDA is a joke and it's impossible to do accurate personal research on stuff like this because they won't expose anything that will keep them from getting what they want MONEY Comment from : Lineup Legend |

I've been donating August or so last year 2022 Never any major reactions and mostly been going twice a week, not every week but three-four times a month or so, minimum Caught a cold this year in early January and I STILL have minor symptoms but no fever or coughing but its lingering, I told staff and they said to maybe take a break, I've been fatigued too in general Weird because I'm healthy and always been healthy in general, so I'm taking a break for now Comment from : Mighty Thistle |
|
The fatigue, vein bruising, and feeling like you have to throw up was enough for me to take a break Comment from : QueenLucifer777 |

I either fucked up my bicep tendon or a nerve in my arm on my 4th or 5th time donating 4 and-a-half months later, I’ve seen a lot of improvement, but it seems to have stopped getting better At the start, it was a 9-10/10 on how painful it was Now, it’s at a much more tolerable 3-4/10 and I don’t think it impacts my day-to—day life too severely anymore, but it definitely still bothers me and causes considerable discomfort I also still don’t know what exactly is going on in my arm and if it’s a nerve injury, bicep tendon injury, or what… Comment from : Jack Knauf |

The reason ones bone mineral would decrease over time is because frequent donation does have a significant negative effect on total protein levels I have to eat a lot to keep my protein up to donate lately after donating over a year, 2 times a week Comment from : Ryan Kittle |
|
does anyone know if donating plasma removes iron from your system or is whole blood and double red donation the way to go to remove iron Comment from : white freeman |
|
Conclusion: I'm not gonna risk my health sorry (24, male) Only if I'm convinced that the health of other people would improve way more than my health decreases Comment from : MorTobXD |
|
Isn't it the case that bones don't mineralize after the age of 27? So after that you're donating away your bones?? Comment from : MorTobXD |

I was an apheresis nurse and trainer for 10yrs I’m looking into donating myself and am a bit nervous but your videos seem to give a lot of information from the donors point of view Citrate reactions are quite rare When the citrate binds with the calcium in your body you can have symptoms but any nurse working will have the expertise to handle it Comment from : Alice Wistrand |

If you donate plasma regularly consider checking your Albumin levels in your blood work history Protein increases your serum albumin concentrations Albumin is the most abundant protein found in plasma Albumin helps keep fluid from leaking out of your blood vessels into other tissues brWhat are the symptoms of low albumin?brYou may have swelling that is all over your body, or swelling in one part of your body (such as your legs) You may have muscle weakness, fatigue, or cramps You may have a poor appetite, and may not be eating well Even people who take in a lot of protein in their diet may still have low albumin levels in their blood Comment from : Robnation |

Tried donating at a CSL branch here in Ohio last Friday for my first time As soon as she put the needle in, my vein blew She deferred me for 2 days, but, I think it was because I'm a big coffee drinker so I took a week to kind of get my daily water intake increased Crossing my fingers that tomorrow will be uneventful and I can help someone 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Comment from : Laura Gamblin |

i had donated plasma for 3 or 4 years I believe but later my body had side effects feeling more frequent dizziness, eye problems, short breath, anxiety until the point my iron keeps dropping and dropping down and now I can not donated anymore! I can not even go to work ill being taking vitamins, and eat lots of food with iron on it and still I'm suffering now the side effects i went to the hospital 3 times to the emergency hospital and never could discover anything with heart or other problems except my local doctor who said my iron keeps dropping down and I get sick right awaylike when COVID hit! I was about to die but I stayed home and thanks to my sister who take care of me and i keep taking vitamin D, zinc, vitamin C and natural foods and lots of fruits God provided me with more life to keep bothering people heheheh i guess is so hard to be illegal in this country and die of Covid? shame on my ancestors lol Death couldn't take me yet! hahahah Comment from : Isis Hernandez |

I set up an appointment for my first time donating plasma, but I'm having reservations now I've read several people mentioning numbness and tingling from the process and that's something I really want to avoid -- I already have severe peripheral neuropathy (the cause is unknown in my case) and it can be almost disabling as well as painful There's a Facebook group for people with small fiber peripheral neuropathy that I look in on once in awhile, so I'm going to ask whether any other members have donated plasma and if or how it affected their condition Comment from : snicky58 |
|
Your videos are so informative and helpful Thank you so much I do have a question: I have never had COVID and I have never taken any of the COVID vaccines Will that disqualify me from donating plasma? Comment from : snicky58 |
