vent warning but it’s still kind of on topic with the whole “finding your style” thingbrbrmy problem is, i kind of have an insecurity about how trendy or common my own style would be like, i know it’s stupid, but i just can’t get out of my head the idea that my style would be, just… lesser, i guess? for being common or even “basic” even in alternative spaces there is always a “basic” version of what they wear and it makes me really insecure about my tastes and what i like in fashion so i try to find lesser known things to take inspiration from but they’re never really things i like, whereas a person like melanie martinez, who has a style i wanna emulate to an extent, still had a large following and i’m still scared of people calling me basic for taking inspiration from her or dressing similarly ;-; help sorry for the vent

I decided to actually start getting into fashion about 2 years ago now, and overtime i have just been collecting inspo pictures that I like While not all of them are for me and I have switched back and forth a lot, I think that over time i have built up a good enough idea of what I like and wear to be able to pick out a defining commonality to base future shopping on :)

I think trying to mimic other styles, especially taking inspiration from different shows and such, is going to be the most helpful for me I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something that I know works, even if I wouldn't have thought of it for myself I don't even know what my style is, only what I'm comfortable with Thanks for actually giving advice that doesn't break the bank or encourage waste!

Girl this helped me soo much! i'm a minor who suffers from picking outfits for myself and always heavily criticized by my mom whenever i go out with her She'd always say i look like shit in everything and the only clothes she's okay with are dresses that slightly reaches my knees Shopping local clothes stores are one hell of a kind because i simply CANNOT even pick a t-shirt, she doesn't hesitate or bother making me embarrassed in front of the employees there Reluctantly, i admit that i don't have a good taste in fashion since i mostly wear white shirts and jeans, so finding stylish outfits is something i'm not used to with Searching for this was probably an impulsive thing to do when i got home from clothing stores or caffee/restaurants hangout
