Where is the patterns? terrible explanation Comment from : Amatteus |

This was a travesty Clearly, it makes such clear sense in his own mind that when he’s “explaining” it it still makes sense to him; however, because he’s such a poor teacher he doesn’t get that he’s not making any sense to anyone else’s mind Yikes Comment from : Scott B |

This is great to add context to the BEADGCF = 7362514 concept, and the locations of all the octave/unison notes Comment from : Todd T |
I think this doesn't replace the linear learning, where you play one note per string and find them on each string, but I'll add this to my learning process, vertical is good too :) Comment from : Alex K |
Hope you don't teach for a living this is really bad Comment from : Sean Verso |

The way you are teaching is a waste of time Comment from : Brian Thomas |

For 25 years, I've tried to learn the "patterns" with complete and absolute failure It is clear that I need a new method So, in less than an hour yesterday I learned the positions of all the Bs and Cs on my guitar I practiced until I could look at the fretboard and see each and every one of them Today I reviewed and added the As Tomorrow I'll review and then it is on to the Ds Es and Fs will be easy because they are adjacent to each other I can see that within a month I will have the whole mess memorized and available for quick recall without having to remember a single pattern or shape This isn't hard at all, just takes diligence I'm in my 70s and if I can do this anyone can It is no different that learning your ABCs or times tables Persist! Where, exactly, does the sequence of notes repeat [ other than at the 12th fret]?? Comment from : Dave Humphreys |
every time I think about learning the fretboard I get overwhelmed and say F k it but with this general idea it puts the fretboard into a perspective that can get through my denseness , although this does not cover sharps and flats they should be a doable fill in when I get comfortable with what you have explained here I for one appreciate what you have done here , thank you for posting this Comment from : hotrodgs |
I've watched this 4 times and still don't get itThere is no pattern there and there certainly is no scale either Comment from : eagle670 |
I don’t know about anyone else, but I would have appreciated your taking the time to film the video from the correct perspective or load it so it could be viewed easily The presentation sucks and so does the idea Comment from : Joseph James |

This makes no logical sense at all, i dont see how this method teaches anyone anything! This is only a waste of time E and F are the first thing you start with at the 1st Fret high and low Strings after every EF there are 3-Whole Steps and then a Half which is your B and C the high E and the low E are your EF the B String is your BC after every BC there are only, 2 Whole steps and you arrive at EF Again BC starts on your A String 2nd Fret EF starts at the second Fret D String BC on The 3rd Fret work it out from their WWHWWWH Thats a Major scale the fret board all the whole motes are a CMajor scale Comment from : Tom Bailey |

Brilliant bro! Comment from : Corey Sleap |

There are a lot of methods, but this is what I recommendFirst, learn the 5th (A) & 6th (E) strings(For a lot of reasons those are the most important strings to know) So, now to the Example: Say you want to learn where all the G's are, on the neckStarting on first G (3rd Fret the fat E string)Skip A String, (working up the neck) Skip A Fret Bam! There's your octave G on (D, or 4th string), You should be on the 5th FretTurn your guitar so you're looking down at the Fretboard Looking at the G you started on, then to the G you landed on It should remind you of a Tic-Tac-Toe board The first G being the lower left corner box, and the second G at the upper right-hand corner boxDo this for both stringsThat covers 4 strings right there 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd stringsOh, but wait! The high E string (1st string) is exactly the same as the FAT Low E (6th string) So now you know the notes on 5 stringsMagic! Now, what about that pesky B (2nd) string? Easy peezy, lemon squeezy, (as my grandkids would say)You know how you Skip-A String, Skip-A-Fret on the first example? You do the same thing for the D (4th string), only this time you Skip A String, Skip 2 frets to get the notes on the B (2nd string)Note: You don't need to do that with the G string, to get the notes on the High E (skinny 1st string), because you already learned those notes on the Low E, remember? But wait!"Where do I go from there? I still need to work my way up the neck, but I ran out of strings!"No you didn't!Now, working your way back towards the Fat E (6th string) you, instead of Skipping A String, Skipping 2 Frets; you do the opposite Skip 2 strings, and Skip 1 FretNow, reaching any of the 5th, and 6th strings again just rinse and repeat your way up the neck, and you're done with the whole Fretboard!Pat yourself on the back! You are now a guitar virtuoso!Go out and have a drink, or something to celebrate! I couldn't make head nor tail of this when I first saw this video brbrI think it was your use of the word "scale" that threw me When I changed "scale" to "pattern" in my mind and tried this out practically with a guitar in my hand, it suddenly made perfect sense I think this might finally help me memorise the notes on the neck - only 49 years after I first picked up a guitar ;) Comment from : berni armstrong |
cool trick man Comment from : motoputz |
And now i try to us my brain for a week,,crazy!! Comment from : Barry D bone |
LOL So basically if one just memorizes all the notes on the neck and you'll have them memorized brilliant! Comment from : PilferMusic |
