There are around 20 countries that speak Spanish as an official language and each country has its own slangs and regional expressions I imagine it would even be hard for natives to understand all of the expressions and slangs from other countries I used to work in a company with colleagues from Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Spain Each of these colleagues have their own accent and used different slang words when they spoke, and honestly sometimes they didn't understand each other either Another reason why it is hard to understand Spanish speakers is because school/ self taught Spanish is different from what Spanish native speakers use Comment from : Maria Antonía Santos |
|
Gracias por este video Mi principal problema para entender 'dibujar un perro' fue el vocabulario, principalmente los sustantivos Tengo el mismo problema cuando hablo con alguien sobre un tema nuevo Es como construir algo sin las herramientas adecuadasbrMe voy escribir todas las palabras que son nuevas para mi Gracias Comment from : Gdeluume |

Thanks for the video I’m confused I thought “z” was pronounced as “th”? Or am I just hearing it as a z and not th?brI’ve started watching Spanish movies and videos with Spanish subtitles but often I can’t read quick enough to keep up because in my head I’m trying to get the pronunciation and often stumble over words like beer (cerveza, pronounced ther-vay-tha) brI also get lost with which words are meant to be masculine and which are feminine, particularly when putting “the” in front of it Should it be “el” or “la”, “los” or “las” brI know I’ll get there one day😂😂 Comment from : TheGholiday |
|
Gracias Comment from : James Zeris |

Thanks for sharing Comment from : gRosh08 |

I worked construction from 15-25 and worked with guys from Mexico North & South, Guatemala, Costa Rico, etc (the list goes on and on)brI speak a decent amount of Spanish but could not compare myself to a native With some guys, I was able to understand nearly every word they said while others I could barely make out a sentencebrHad I seen subtitles of what they said, I could understand But what I’m trying to say is, to really master this language, it is extremely important to expose yourself to as many different cultures/accents that speak this language brWhen you speak to a foreigner in their native language, you are speaking to their heart Comment from : Muhammad Waxali |

I have been learning Spanish for a very long time Some of my problems is learning from friends that are from Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Uruguay and more so there are numerous dialects that are confusing I can watch these videos and get the general idea of what is said but if I read the close captioning, I get it 100 Too bad when I am talking to someone, there are no captions to read My vocabulary is good, my grammar is not great but maybe my hearing is bad I don't know Any ideas? Comment from : Richard Allison |
|

I learned Portuguese living in Brazil, in complete immersion and already being bilingual, within a few months I could have simple conversations and understand a lot Within a year, I was doing great and speaking and listening with people and friends with ease BUT I would watch a Brazilian novela or movie and understand hardly a thing That probably took another year I can have a basic conversation in Spanish with my teacher and do OK If I watch a Spanish language film, I understand ZERO I think it’s so fast and regional compared to a real conversation that it’s a little hopelessI watch Mexican movies (they speak very clearly but there can be a lot of slang) and Argentinian which is incomprehensible It’s such a challenge but my objective is not to understand a film but rather to be able to speak decentI’m getting there ✌🏻besitos 😘 Comment from : Val S |

I've found that a lot of streaming services offer popular American shows with Spanish (usually Latin American) audio and subtitles, but most of the time they don't match each other! The audio is usually more complex and descriptive than the subtitles It's really frustrating since I'd love to use both together Comment from : Kristina Cyr |
