How can they legally stamp dollar amounts on these coins? They put that guy in jail for making them liberty dollar coins and the coins said not intended for legal tender Comment from : chriss4365 |
|
Well I figured it out they're only worth half of what they're selling them for so I don't buy them anymore Comment from : Irene Griego |
|
My father in law purchased a lot of these coins from the American mint When I discovered what they were worth I was a bit upset knowing what he paid for them I gave them all away to family members who were interested in them Comment from : Techn Moto |

The late JT Stanton (co-author of the Cherrypickers' Guide) once told me that "integrity is EVERYTHING in this business (numismatics)" He could not have been more right Thank you for maintaining that standard of integrity that you have, Dan Keep up the great work Comment from : Barf Rockskin |

went to my father-in-law's house saw he had a coin collection most of them from American mint I talked him into letting me open the plastic sealed containers and I'm not shitting you one of the "coins" was freaking cardboard Comment from : Michael Gatewood |

I’d pay $2995 for the ASE in a lighted box now two years after this video was postedwhich means someone could’ve actually made money buying from American Mint if they bought those $2995 ASE + Box deal 😂 Comment from : Blake |
|
I don’t really mind fakes bif/b they are clearly labeledbrbrI actually have an 1893 S copy as a placeholder in my album but it clearly says “COPY” on it so there is no risk of anyone being fooledbrbrIt was something my local dealer gave me for free when I bought an NGC MS63 1884 CC Morgan from him 😆 brbrSpectacular likes to cut into them until the underlying metal is exposed so it’s obvious they’re not silver Comment from : Blake |
|
I don’t think the government should even allow them to use the namebr “American Mint”brbrI think a lot of people are fooled into thinking it’s the official US Mint It sounds too similarbrbrIf these people think they’re buying from the official US Mint they don’t think they’re getting ripped off Comment from : Blake |
|
Great info Dan Comment from : Gerard Ramirez |

I have the Marine silver dollar that the mint made several years ago Comment from : Jeff Shaw |
|
Shameful that a company can get away with calling themselves the 'American Mint' That is pure, intentional deception Comment from : Phil Blane |
|
Honestly I think it should be illegal for a company to label itself in a way that clearly seeks to emulate some official connection/storefront to or of the US mint I don't think anything good has ever come of it, just lots of people parted with their money for tripe Comment from : James M |
|

My dad collected coins from American Mint several years ago He thought he was buying something valuable When I found out he was purchasing coins from American Mint, I talked him out of collecting They are worthless! He paid anywhere from $29954-$8999 per coin American Mint preys on people who don't understand coin collecting How does this unscrupulous company get away with ripping people off? He wasted so much money I'm just grateful I found out sooner than later Thank you for sharing this information! Comment from : Kendyl Campbell |

Very kind of you giving them coin medallions away, made me smile That American eagle in the box actually is quite alright, we said it at the same time too it made me laughbrBlurring out the copy can only be with the intention to be deceitfulbrI bought a 1822 capped bust half dollar, although the price seemed fair for me the COA said it weighed 35 grams, I think I kept it for a laughbrThanks Daniel another nice video, see you soon Comment from : Danny P |

I have heard stories of people buying by mail order coin series by some random mint that cost thousands of dollars and the silver was only worth a couple hundred dollars It's best to stick with coins from real government mints from around the world or buy silver close to spot from reputable dealers My favorite buys are government minted coins as close to spot as possible because when you go to sell or trade, you have numismatic people, precious metal lovers, preppers, manufacturers that need the metal, etc - you have the widest range of potential buyers Comment from : ralph wiggum |

I heard China has copy coins ( not always marked 'copy') of virtually every coin ever minted in the history of the world They bypass the counterfeit laws by marketing them as "souvenirs" brI've seen videos in the past of giant ( and I do mean huge) warehouses of these false coins Comment from : jimmy fortrue |

Ah the American mint You've only scratched he surface in why I despise this con artist company Note the fine print right above the price: "Includes a free preview" I purchased some coins from them I wasn't under any illusion that the coins were a good investment nor that the coins would have any numismatic or bullion value They had a coin I wanted so I purchased it NOT noticing the "free preview" prose above the crossed out price So you can't just order coins from them, you're getting coins on approval Which is absurd, the ONLY reason you'd buy coins on approval is if you needed to see them in person such as a circulated coin Everything they sell is new, they don't need to send you an overpriced coin every month, they could just send you a picture in an emailbrSo here is how they run their racket You get an elderly person or other naive person to buy your coins they you send them the coins on approval If they've got your credit card number they'll be charging it, but some oldsters might think they are getting free coins and rack up heavenly bills As you alluded to, they are fundamentally dishonest company, but much worse when you see how they operate Avoid them, and keep in mind that at least one "free preview" will have to be returned at YOUR EXPENSE And you better get insurance on it, or they'll just say they didn't get it Comment from : Pyrolonn |

I'm a mail carrier and I deliver those American Mint catalogs all the time They always go to elderly people but I can't stick my nose into their business and tell them not to buy that stuff Some of those 14K gold coins are selling for over six times melt value The Platinum Eagle replica, which is 1 oz of SILVER (layered in platinum), goes for $195! You might as well spend $1K for a real platinum eagle What a ripoff And don't get me started on the Mystic Stamp catalogs Comment from : jeffw1267 |

Your honesty is priceless this world is filled with coin crooks and I been seeing it getting out of control on eBay lately People are charging to much for raw coins lately on there For some of those prices they are charging as if they are graded by the top teir services and these are raw coins Also others are still high but not as much but it is still high and the reason why I say that is because if I buy it for that price I am expecting it not to be clean Some coins are very obvious that have been cleaned others are not I paid 80 bucks for a coin that I t thought was Me 65 or higher and it did not appear clean to me but it came back a clean designation grade If I am paying that much for a raw coin in an eBay auction it should not be clean If the seller is aware if it is clean they should not sell it as a non clean coin it should say clean Although I still think the coin is not clean I looked at ms65 and 66 pictures of slabed coins on eBay and it looks the same as those coins Comment from : Christopher Simpson |

Thanks for the great info that yet again helps all of us know how to recognize coins of real value, and also how people are manipulating images of coins that are copies to attempt to sell a coin for more than it is actually worthbrI haven't bought any coins in quite a long time, but did buy a lot of coins when I was traveling the world in 2004 & 2005brI have a lot of commemorative coins I got while in Russia, and some mint coin sets while in other countries as well as their paper money in as good as condition as I could get thosebrSome of the paper money is no longer used in those countries since the Euro took overbrI would love to get your advice privately about thosebrWhere do I email you to discuss that with you?
