Good overall information I know it has changed since I was in (87-00) The benefits available have not changed but the amounts being offered have The only exception I would offer is that the medical is not worth the price the service member pays (Social medical care sucks but since the service member did not pay for it; a good reason for it to suck) Two attempts of a root canal on the same tooth that has been dead since 1988, medical procedures from combat-related issues that ended up ending a career after 12 years I'm not sayingI'm just saying

When I was in the military I had no idea they were ripping me off until I got out and went to work in federal law enforcement In the military you get 24 paychecks a year (1st, 15th) but the rest of the government get 26 paychecks a year (every two weeks) so two months a year you get 3 paychecks The military says they give you 30 days of annual leave with pay but actually they are taking a month of pay from you A new civilian government employee earns 208 hours or 26 days of annual/sick combined leave a year the first year and still gets two more paychecks The military was what I needed when I joined but I think I/we should get paid the same number of checks as any other government employee

If you want to make bank down the road you should invest I ended up getting $20,000 in bonuses first thing I did was take that and invest it At the rate im going if I only use that $20,000 and dont keep adding to my investment which I plan to do About 20-30 years down the road I'll be at $160,000+ Keeping in mind I have family that does alot of investing who will help keep my investments safe for me while im deployed on ship and wont be able to have access to what I need to maintain my investments Say I add maybe $500 a month and that amount I stated earlier could be way higher This is just something im doing to prepare myself in the long run for an early retirement, Im currently 24 I'm open to making the military my career so in the long run, if I choose to stay 20 years, I'll be relatively set when discharged savings and financially wise

I will say as an E-3 with BAS and 2 years and less of Sea Pay , The pay gets a bit tough sometimes , But The extra boost at E-4 with 3 Year Sea pay boost definitely Helps , As Long as Nicky Stated in the Video , you try Your best to Minimize your expenses and bills to that E-1 level if you can maintain that , your golden Its Easy to get Carried away and blow your Checks in Port on Hotels and Nice fancy Cars and what not , But Always keep track of Your Finances and Budget yourself

I have an 8 year contract in the Navy as an LS and have served the first half in active duty When I was asked if I would like to stay in active, or drop into reserve for the next half of the contract, I couldn't say "active duty" any fasterbrbrI joined the Navy later than most, in my mid/late-twenties, and have a pretty fair experience of civilian life after high school It's hard to find a decent job if you don't have the right degree, skill set, experience, or connections, medical insurance is expensive as fuck, (healthy) food is expensive, and the day to day grind of the dreaded 9 to 5 is almost soul-crushing Also, job security isn't a thing for most placesbrbrCivilian life is hard, at least harder than the Navy Sure, the Navy is somewhat more strict-ish, but I found that to be just what I needed in life I'll probably stick around for the full 20, if anything

What you didn't address is the fact most people actually leave at the e-4 mafia 4-6 yr contracts, is not because of pay, it's because of the unnecessary stress leadership puts on people for no reason and because we're millennials, we thrive on options and flexibility to grow which would also mean entrepreneurship and just being free again Guess what the military prevents most of? Those thingsbrbrPeople aren't afraid to leave and people aren't definitely afraid of not signing up for the military There's a reason why we are undermanned

And say a surg tech position in the navy can I get certified outside if I leave after I serve my time? I just don’t understand when we would be able to finish school I have my pre reqs and 2 semesters of nursing school completed I need to finish somewhere I just don’t know where or when!
