Barry Williams' parents actually hired a witch doctor to help remove the curse of his lisp and turn it onto Susan Olsen Amazingly, the curse transfer worked, but in a twist of fate the audience loved the lisp that the character Cindy picked up from the spell and decided to keep it in the show instead of re-casting the part And when the animated series aired a few years after the show ended, a wizard bird character was introduced based on the witch doctor who had performed this ill-advised transfer It is also rumored that the witch doctor himself was given an uncredited cameo in the show as thanks for his unintended help, but nobody has ever confirmed this
