Edgar you are absolutely correct with your experience with the truck stop card system Any managed system whether bill changer or card system needs to be monitored and properly maintained If a critical part of the system goes down (and malfunctions) management needs to respond quickly to get the device up and running as quickly as possible and to make good on any claims Obviously that was not your experience This can happen with any system coin or card If you can not get quarters for your washer, your in the same boat as with a defective card system Comment from : Karl Hinrichs |

I had a horrible experience with the card system at the truck stop I go to regularly The card machine would take mine and other's money and dispense cards that don't work It was so bad I complained to the corporate headquarters They eventually replaced the machines using a change machine with the "quarters" options When a card system isn't serviced regularly people won't use the machines Comment from : Itravelbackintime |

I have a Laundromat that uses both card and coin and most definitely you will have customers that no matter what you do to try to get them to use cards (even offering to return the deposit upon surrendering the card) they will not use cards Others who have used cards have discontinued using them because they keep on forgetting to bring the card back forcing them to buy a new card to continue to use the technology With the recent price increase of the cards I've had to bump up the price from 050 to $100 providing another reason for customers not staying on card systems Also, if you ever consider purchasing a card system pray you do not get a "lemon" system I got plagued with computer motherboard and hard dish failures as well as touch screen lockups resulting in equipment downtime In fact, I'm happy I have coins also because this is my security buffer In the event my card system becomes faulty Would I purchase $60k card system in the future? NO! Comment from : Edgar Vazquez |

How realistic or cost effective would it be to have both card and coin systems in the same laundry facility? Do you have locations where both options are available? Comment from : Al McGee |

@AmericanArab - Laundry Card systems have been around for 15+ years and I have never heard of a system totall going down (but that does not mean too much) The systemshave 2 seperate and independent computers each with their own power supplies and battery back-up If one computer goes down the other takes over seamlessly On the remote chance that both go down, then there are "wizard cards" that will allow an attendand to start the washers for Free Then at least you are running Comment from : Karl Hinrichs |
