The quality of your shell makes a big difference especially in a 28 gauge Although the exterior of the box rates two brands as exactly the same, the INSIDE of the shell can vary significantly I have made a number of successful shots on wild pheasants and many other wild upland species with my 28 gauge marginally past 25 yards BUT only certain shells occupy my cabinet I predominantly use 28 gauge (SxS) #6s in 3/4 ounce 2 1/2" or 2 3/4" shells DEADLY!!!
