Old coins all the way!!! That is true coin collecting imo as it's all about the history attached to them and the people who had owned them through the ages Comment from : Discovering History |
1879, the year of the battle of Isandlhwana in Natal (which I fought at) What a rip-roaring coin! Comment from : Sir Rather Splendid |

Ik this video is a bit old but I still thought might as well comment I started collecting as a curious 11 year old checking my change for the hope that I might get Kew Gardens or a jemima puddleduck Eventually I became curious about gold and tried to persuade my parents to get gold coins as an investment (due to the sorta fixed price gold tends to go at) They said no and I was quelled for a while but after discovering this channel I became really interested in historics and I learned everything I could about what makes a coin rare etc (this channel was honestly a big help with that) Fast forward to today and I’ve started to collect rare historic proof sets, starting with 1953 and working back Anyways has for the issue on slabbing I’d honestly love to hold my coins in my hand and feel them but they are better protected in a Slab and it saves me the trouble of having to get them slabbed myself 😅 Anyways ik this comment has been a bit long so I’ll just sum it up I’ve personally progressed from simply wanting the odd rare 50p, to looking for true rarities Comment from : Manraj2006 |

I learned more about British history from pre-decimal Australian coins, and pennys from other Commonwealth countries than I ever learned at school There is always a story with old coins Comment from : MaxShiraz |
Hello, new subscriber here With the premiums on US bullion, I have been buying gold sovereigns and those various 20 francs instead for stacking purposes I've completely fallen in love with the older coinage (though not as old as that noble) Comment from : metalsanddials |

I keep up with my ASE full collection, but I'm very much into filling my older coin albums I traded off 64 oz of my generic silver for a 1893 Eagle and a 1907 Eagle I like being the care taker of these older coins, for future generations Comment from : Stacking PERPETRATOR |
The only modern coin I would ever buy is a 999 silver coin for Stacking or somthkng like the V75 I can flip for a profit 99999 of morden is not my style Comment from : Corey Nagle |

HI NUMI I LIKE BOTH OLD & NEW I LIKE TYPE COLLECTING MOST OF TODAY'S COINS WILL NEVER REALLY BE RARE AN 1817 1/2 SOVEREIGN IN 64DCAM WILL ALWAYS BE RARE Comment from : Donald in New Mexico |
Progressed as you say bullion to commemm to provenanced historic The mints got way too greedy with commem I worry about fakes in the historic market so take as much care as possible there, but these items when the stars align are real treasures imo for all the reasons you say, history artistry market action etc Bullion also is never forgotten as it was and is core alternative emergency investment in controlled size Fascinating hobby though!! Great Channel and great content again! Comment from : Real Ryal |
What was the first coin? Is it a pattern? Haven't seen it before Comment from : iCookie (e100k) |

Interesting thoughts Do people tend to be one thing or the other? For me I'm a little bit of everything I will flip a coin if I can, I buy and keep modern coins, I also buy and keep early milled and hammered I have my core collection which j don't intend on selling but if someone made me an offer then who knows Comment from : The HRS Channel |
I enjoy all but I adore ancient and medevial Just got a 8 gram gold stater of Philip ll of Macedonia, father of Alexander the Great (20 drachma worth)brLovely coins you got :) Comment from : C B |
Years ago I used to collect ancients, Greek and Roman, but never developed a consistent theme among them and ultimately sold off most However after watching the videos on your channel and others, I got back into collecting, and have taken an interest in the early US (bust-type) half dollars Indeed, there are some impressive modern releases from national and private mints, but I'm more the person who would prefer to collect coins from the time of the event or person being commemorated Comment from : 80s Sojourner |
NICE NUMI !!! Comment from : Mark B |

👍👍👍👍 Comment from : Elias Cruz |
That's a horrible portrayal of Britannia on the 2021 gold brThe noble you've shown is the best of all brThank you, Numistacker 👍 Comment from : Shashank Golikeri |
Hi Numi It is rare that I purchase a modern coin 95 of my collection is made up of old world coins Ancients thru to about 1930 As a history buff I will purchase a coin then do a lot of research on it Comment from : officeguy3 |
Early milled & hammered coins are the best coins to collect (personally) My channel covers all things English Medival coins Something about the crude manufacturing, the stories that these coins tell with society so different back then Hammered coins had a real monetary value, clipping was classed as the highest of crimes against the king or Queen History is amazing Great video numistacker Comment from : The Hammered Corner |
Coins with a true history are my favourite I am not a fan of "collecting" modern mint releases which honestly rely on low mintages and who can press the purchase button the fastest on release daybrAlso, that Noble is fantastic Comment from : MrENT18 |
i collect a little of everything Comment from : charles adkins |
Good video , always look forward to new content So I've managed to get two of the new silver Britannia's (both designs) but missed out on the three graces and Una and the lion : ( , For me , I collect old and new , mainly British coins , but many from other mints also I only wish that the Royal Mint would give more than a dozen hours or so notice via email, before the launch of limited edition coins , as I've missed out many times because of this Comment from : Chris Howe |
I moved more into ancient coins and looking forward to researching the individuals on the coins on Wikipedia I mean what drives my purchases is the artistic look of the coins themselves with the history tied to it Great video numistacker always a pleasure 👍 Comment from : Silver Speed |

I still can't get over that Noble from the 1300s! And regarding grading my feeling is if you can't hold it you don't really own it Plastic is for credit cards not coins! Comment from : Braden |
I collect both old+new numi from a little hoard of Gallienus coins 253-268 AD, through to 2021 Proofs, it's whatever catches my 👁 👍 Comment from : VOODOO SKRATCH |
Perfect Una for 5 or 6 grand is insane for the coin that was £180 initially Personally, I'd love to get old sovereigns but many of them are just too expensive I just love all sorts of coins and thanks to You, Numistacker I get more and more educated It would be nice to meet You one day during the coin fair in London once the government allows big gatherings and events I would also listen to a weekly podcast regarding coins but I know that that would be difficult to organise All the best, Numi!!! Comment from : Konrad Mroczek |
I like both old and modern,,, I buy the story behind coins,,, and i like low mintage releasesI love ancient, hammered, early milled best i thinklike your wonderful noble,,,, my all-time fav gold hammered is the angel,, even dreamt about that coin a couple of timeslol hoping one day after a few years stacking coins I can get my hands on one the modern coins are great too, my first coin in my serious collecting journey was the 2 oz silver una i sold it and bought a nice 2017 piedfort which graded 70so for me,,, my journey is all about evolving my collectiontrying my best to pick coins I think will be good to grade and keep id love to sell some of my coins to evolve my collectioni find it hard to part with coins thoughbrid dearly love to buy my first 1 oz gold coin, and then the 2 ozlike that beautiful 2 oz Britannia with the Corinthian helmet portraitone day I hope to get to that level great vlog as always, rounds of the Sunday perfectly Comment from : STACK STACK SAVE UK |
I started exactly like you said NumiMy first coin was a bullion a Napoleon I,then some commemoratives and proofsAfter a year or two I switched onto 18 th century gold and now I am very much into roman and byzantine goldI just find old gold much more spirited and “transcendental” in a wayI also do love silver coins but they have to be extraordinary somehow to please my soul and eye Comment from : Xander The Great |
From my standpoint, modern commemoratives are nothing but cash grabs for the mints There are usually too many minted in most cases & they’re missing the most important elements of coin collecting — history & rarity Comment from : Golden Slumber |
You could say it's a little confusing! Good video and thought provoking too! 👍 Comment from : CoinPig |
