I find it cheaper and quicker to dry clothes and bedding on a clothes horse or backs of chairs with a fan a normal cheapbr would use in the summer use it to dry your clothes and the other tip just hang clothes on doors and soon as you have had a shower get the towels hanging in the bathroom the heat will try them

Trisha Morgan
No way I could take a shower in 4 minutes

If you have a condensing combi boiler, set the boiler output temperature as low as possible, whilst it still heats the house ok, as the boiler condenses (takes hear from the waste flue gas) and works at optimum efficiency when the return water temp is 55c or below Bear in mind 10-15 will be lost as the radiators give off heat, so the boiler temp could be set at 60, even 65, but 55 would absolutely ensure the boiler operates in condensing modebrbrAfter using the oven, leave the door open to utilise the heat remaining in therebrbrIf there are curtains over radiators, fix a shelf over the radiator to direct the heat into the room rather than behind the curtains OR tuck the curtains on to the sillbrbrMake sure the heating goes OFF before you actually go to bed as there will be residual heat in the radiatorsbrbrOpen curtains to let sun into a room to naturally heat itbrbrTurn off the kettle just as it starts to boil as usually it will boil for a few seconds before the auto switch off occursbrbrProgrammable radiator valves can take the place of mechanical trvs Why heat the bedrooms all evening? Why heat the living room when you are leaving for work in the morning? Just heat the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen

Why should I be forced to freeze and starve when the people who caused this are doing alrightPoliticians of all parties can claim their heating and lighting bills,Full heating in Parliament, no coats on office staff and politicians, Utility companies still charging inflated rates even though the gas prices have dropped at least 35

Excellent video, we live in the State of South Australia in Australia and our power became expensive in the late 90's so we learnt to do everything you say Possibly a bit more extremely, we wash in cold water ( as it comes out of the tap), our showers are only 3 minutes and winter heating is not used at allsummers are hot here so we increased our insulation and our entire home has insulated roller shutters on windows and our sliding glass doors, fans for cooling and our air-conditioner is very rarely used We have added solar panels and Evacuated tube solar hot water so our water heating is completely free for 11 months of the year, with the electric boost used every 3 days or so for the other month the result is our 3 bedroom home uses less than 5kwh per day annually 🙂

Some really good tips brWashing clothes at 30 or less sometimes is good I use biological powder which works well brbrIt’s also worth mentioning that some electricals use power when you really wouldnt think they wouldbrbrMy washing machine, when turned off, Shows no lights or anything But it’s still using 11 watts of power I usually use it twice a week That’s a lot of multiples of 11 watts to power nothing every week!brbrI have a energy meter that goes between a socket and plug Really useful brbrGreat video 👍

Bikeadelic
these tips are just common sense
Comment from : Bikeadelic

Bikeadelic
it's not a crissis it's a conbrit's got nothing to do with what's "happening at the same time" it's energy companies want more profits look into it

Many thanks, disagree with the dishwasher one though, newer dishwashers will use very little water and power to clean a full load compared to a whole bowl of hot water

Although LED's are incredibly efficient , They are also incredibly expensive LED bulbs in my kitchen used to cost 80p GB, until they got popular, now they are 550p each and the so called 50,000 hours predicted use is actually more like 50 hours, They seem to have chinese built in obsolescence, so not really cost effective

Mark Hainsworth

Thank you, Anna for your tips Where I used to live I did not need to worry about energy saving Although, I was careful for saving the planet's sake I have moved into a new home for the over 60s and I am now responsible for my electricity consumption I did not realise that unplugging appliances could make such a difference I religiously unplug anything I do not use I do not only want to reduce bill but saving the planet too Another reason for keeping costs down is to lower the profits for energy companies and share holders They have more than enough money already Sorry, I'm getting political here! Ha ha I will certainly use blankets instead of switching on the heating I will only plug my laptop in when it needs to be charged Thank you again for your useful tips

Some very useful tips on show 🙌🏿brbrAnna, will you be signing up for the Chase debit card that has just launched in the UK? Earning 1 cashback on everyday debit card spending is very enticing (even if the offer is only for one year) Better than Barclaycard’s Rewards card which is offering cashback at 025 daily

Very useful tips Anna !!!! UK currently has many problems as I watch on the newsbrMy tips are: invest in energy ETFs & stocks At the end, you will get the money you spend on bills back + high profits Carpets & rugs can make your house warmer Getting a dehumidifier will decrease the need for heating And last but not least, having a partner who likes staying in bed covered with warm blankets, drinking warm beverages and watching movies together, will help pass cold weather faster :)
