I'd buy into a pooled account monthly and redeem a 1oz coin whenever the account balance allows Comment from : TS Lee |

Gold only investors are likely to be crippled in barter transactions Not because people will turn gold down, but because the value is so concentrated you will often be giving up more than you need to, had you focused on silver instead I have a small ocean of silver dimes and I will smirk at you if you are around paying a tenth of an ounce gold coin for the same thing I can obtain for one or two silver dimes Silver will be revalued to correlate with the mining ratio to gold---7 silver oz to 1 gold oz Comment from : Charles Savoie |
Another consideration is: If you ever have to sell a coin you may not want to sell a full ounce of all you need is a few hundred dollars Comment from : Steve Watson |
quick questionbrI read We are required by law to report any sales of 90 silver US coins that exceed a face value of $1,000brA one ounce gold eagle has a face value of 50 dollarsbrsooo, do i have to report a gold eagle sale? Comment from : Stuart Hollingsead |
Both 1 oz and fractional gold coins have their benefits yes you pay lower premiums buying a 1 oz coin but 1/4 and 1/10 oz coins are great for bartering also by my LCS will lower the premiums on 1 oz and fractional gold coins if you trade in silver for it Comment from : jdg_517 |
Great info, thanks!! Comment from : ThisHereWalnut |
I used to be obsessed with premiums but I just buy whatever I can afford to get every 2 weeks or so at this point which is either 5 grams bar or 1/10 oz coin If I lose a bunch of money on the premiums so be it I'm not investing my life savings in gold, it's mostly just for fun anyway Comment from : D K |
As of late I've been cashing in one oz pieces for 10x 1/10ths from Royal Canadian I think it's an overall better deal and they are inexpensive at about 1900 per ounce They also have the 1 × 5 1/10th in assay They are beautiful pieces of gold and easy to resell if you need to Comment from : Goldeeelock |
gold is worth the same as 10years ago, big gains Comment from : diluca1977 |

Gold for me is a savings account I blow my money on cocain and hookers, so I started buying gold instead of blowing it on blow Comment from : TurninRight |
I just started buying gold fairly recently I buy the 25 gram gold bars and 1 ounce silver barsbrbrI'm terrible at saving money so for me, the easiest and best way is buying fractional gold I'm not rich by any means I'm not even middle class but every week, I buy gold and silverbrbrThose coins are beautiful by the way Comment from : Mikes Gold and Silver Collection |
I love the 1'10th I don"t mind Paying the Premium , I think they will be more liquid when i sell them for My needs Comment from : Brian Smythe |
I have the AGE’s 1/10 oz but I also see the 1/10oz gold coin ‘WWII/ War in the pacific’ coins that are $15-$20 less expensive Do you favor them as well? Thanks Comment from : Eli Redshirt |

👍👍👍 Comment from : Just Add Silver |
As a new metals buyer I really appreciate this Thanks! Comment from : Bob Easter |
I think just getting your hands on whatever gold you can is a great idea I have been buying 25 gram PAMP bars for a year now, about 1 a month I get them on Monument Metals and do a wire to them, and you can get them for $1799 over the spot of gold doing it that way Comment from : Gameswithajump |
premium on 10 1/10 is about a half oz of gold Comment from : Tan Man |
I am a viewer that likes to hold physical gold and silver Comment from : Taze Kowal |

Gold to hold, silver to trade and barter The basic discussion us about premiums for fractional gold Fractions are convenient, but for making change I hold silver Comment from : Jay Jenkins |
This video and all the work you put into it explains perfectly what I've been trying to tell people for years I would never have had the patience to put this together so thank you for doing it Also, I would never have thought to compare the luckiest fractional buyer to the unluckiest whole ounce buyer That was brilliant Since the likelihood that that scenario is going to play out for anyone is pretty close to zero we can discard it as a probability But having worked it out as you did it shows people that even if all the stars are aligned with them the extra premium you pay on fractional coins isn't worth it Comment from : Mark Carey |
Many of us are not rich folks Most of us at best can buy fractional gold probably every year Silver on the other hand, many of us can afford to buy monthly Comment from : Alan Japes |
Very cool analysis, thanks Comment from : David Kalman |
does it cost more for me to buy 1/10th each month over a 1ozt a year? yes, I plan to hold for the long run and if I sell private party I can get that premium back when selling anyways so I am not too pressed I would rather spread the money over time Comment from : Dave |
I am in a situation where I am going to get 1,000 from taxes and 2,000 one time payment from my tribe around the same time Not sure if I want to buy a 1oz gold eagle or buy 1/2oz And 1/4oz Gold eagle Still trying to figure out what I want to do Any advice? Comment from : Frank Quigley |
Great video Comment from : BigRed Bullion |
I have noticed that most gold and silver stackers say that they can't bear to sell their gold or silver so that means that they must be building generational wealth for their kids and grandchildren Which is a good thing to do Comment from : Glamper Van Adventures |
Aside from the premiums, You're basically experiencing the factor of "Dollar Cost Averaging" Both ways require paying attention to the markets It's where you buy it is my mantra I buy both when I can! Comment from : Stack Silver |
Nobody is unlucky with PM's they don't go to 0 Comment from : 49spfein9999 |
If the sole purpose is just stacking than cost will be a bit higher, with my personal experience, emergencies occur too often to save up1800 in a timely manner Comment from : 49spfein9999 |
You can spread your wealth and hide fractional easier too Comment from : 49spfein9999 |
Considering fluctuation and circumstance, I'd say get what you can when you can also easier to have "change" early in the game too Comment from : 49spfein9999 |
This is an interesting video Lots of talk about this topic out there, but nice to see you skin this cat with the historical proofs Well done! Comment from : Vertical Stacker |

The way gold is going to be going up I buy some of these some of those I mixbrYes thanks for the information 👍 Comment from : Tony Flynn |

Would like to see this test on buying a quarter Oz each quarter v 1 Oz per year Some ppl get paid biweekly They could use that extra check to buy the quarter Comment from : Invisible Stacker |
Save up and buy the oz, let’s face it, if you need to sell the 1oz for money…you probably need more than a couple hundred or so Comment from : stratcaptain66 |
Video cool! Thanks for doing this analysis, great information to keep in mindbr🔥🦈🌊 Comment from : Silver Oceans |
I have thought about this since I started fractional monthly purchasing in May 2020 at lowest premiums I will now start saving for 1 ounce coins 🤗 Comment from : Chris Stanford |

Best fractional gold is old euro 20 francs Comment from : Bacchanal Brew |
How about 1/4 oz gold Comment from : Ira DeBoer |
doesn't matter really, from 1/20oz to 1oz what ever you can buy every month for 20-40 years you'll be a good stacker with a small fortune, selling off oldest/cheapest coins you bought first to max your profit Comment from : 010416182027 |
Mexican "Dos Pesos" gold coins are liquid because they number about 207 to an ounce, but the premiums have gone insane Before COVID came along I was buying BU examples at about melt plus 5 I had to buy twenty at a time to get them that cheap, but I can SELL them one at a time Dealers want to buy them because they are easy to sell to customers on a limited budget Even a 1/10 oz gold eagle is over $200 now and not every investor has the means to spend that much on a gold coin Comment from : jeffw1267 |
Who buys 1 coin a year 1oz I buy all of them I want the GOLD that’s all Comment from : Chosen |
I'm just an unlucky fractional buyer Rock on and stack on Comment from : Cache Katz |

Nice, the numbers certainly tell a compelling story Looking forward to the video you mentioned about getting premium back out of those smaller coins in the sell side! Comment from : Boris Gershman |
It's better to buy 1 oz each month :D Comment from : Jerzy z Białowieży |
Some States also have a sales tax, so if you don't meet the threshold, you lose even more with fractionals Comment from : Eric P |
Great insight It would be interesting to see a comparison with the 1/4 oz afaik, it is the fractional coin with the lowest premium, comparable to silver Comment from : Lobo Plateado Stacker |

Buenas noches amigo interesante vídeo guste de las monedas gracias por compartir un abrazo👏👏👏👌👍👏👌🙏 Comment from : Roberto Pérez Catalán |

i live in Germany and we went from a ID free buying limit of 20k €, down to a 2k limitwhich means i am allowed to buy/sell investment gold (purity above 900) for 2000eur ( basically 1 ounce) without showing any ID or filling out any formsit´s like buying breadbrand since we dont know how things may progress in the future i like to stick to fractional coinswe may get a lower anonymous buying/selling limit than 2kmaybe only half an ounce or less Comment from : robertlefou |
i am trying to save up silver, copper, coins for retirement Comment from : Gem Cox |

This is interesting research and thanks for making the video! However, this only pertains to gold eagles If a person wants to buy fractional gold there are other coins that can be had for much lower premiums than the 1/10 ounce gold eagles For instance, for the last 3 years I have been buying 20 gold coins from France, Belgium, and Switzerland They can be had for about 8 above spot price which is about what the premium is for a 1 ounce gold eagle The 1/10 ounce gold eagles are running at about 16 premium Comment from : silverhair stacker |
Excellent video I think the overall message is to buy gold when you can because it does better than fiat in the long-term Comment from : B² |
Subscribed! Your video us exactly what has been on my mind Comment from : VAZZ 22 |
Fractional gold is actually more than purchasing an ounce because you're still paying a nice premium for a fractional gold coin Comment from : 🐲 My Kitten Is A Grand Master 🐉 |

Great comparison Ive been on the same fence for awhile: full ounce VS 1/4 ouncebrbrThe moral of this story, STACK regardless of density and try not to get too absorbed into the premium If you set out to STACK long term ANYONE who STACKS will win if they STACK for the long haulbrbrThank you Heist! Comment from : HoosierStacker |
The one issue that makes buying more gold sooner is the rate of increase of the national debt That to me makes it even better to buy more immediately Comment from : Paul D |

Excellent work my friend The numbers are very revealing Overall, no matter what you do, you will preserve your wealth over that 10 year period Nicely done research sir! Comment from : SalivateMetal |
Even though I've heard premiums usually remain on fractional gold when selling, gold to me is more about wealth preservation over the long termbrso I'm not worried about liquidity so much So it's 1oz gold (on sale lol) However, silver can be more suitable as a unit of currency or barter in a SHTFbrscenario- or otherwise Plus the affordability factor makes 1oz silver coins or rounds a no-brainer In other words, buy both, but for separate reasons Comment from : INTERNETVID |
Or you could buy $250 or $5 gold pieces that have a nice history to them Comment from : Silvadel Shaladin |
Good video I pretty much buy what I can afford with my disposable income If that just means a 10th ounce than that's it If I want a gold Buffalo I just save up for a few weeks Which will be my next buy Comment from : Silver Steeler |
Great comparison, thanks for it! Comment from : István Fejérvári |
Personal my favorite coin and size is MORE!! Truly though I think upon resale you will have a broader sales base with fractional coins especially if it continues to increase in value less will be able to make the whole oz purchase Preesh the video Dog Comment from : SilverHustlin13 |
Great comparison! Looking forward to seeing the selling comparison Comment from : Rick Gee Profit Coins! |
Yes, I hold both Comment from : Sterling Cannabis |

I absolutely love you perspective on metals as well as your content I hope you're an art teacher You certainly have one creative mind Thank you for sharing with the community Comment from : Jimmy |
I believe 1oz purchases are best but not everyone can save like that Plus market fluctuations so it may be butter to buy when you can Just my opinion Comment from : Savage Stacker |
Buying gold at the worst time each year brbrbraises hand/b 🤨 Comment from : A Y |
The premiums always remain on fractional gold and they are far more liquid too Those are a couple of reasons the bulk of my gold stack is fractional In fact I only have 3 coins that are an ounce or more I appreciate your research on the data you showed Comment from : CyberCurtainTwitcher |
I appreciate the UPMA gold dollar, silver dollar and goldback savings accounts offered by Alpine Gold They peg your paper to metals unlike the bank plus they offer 0 buying spreads unlike your LCSbrbrEdit: 0 buy/sell spreads Comment from : Mitchell Hoffarth |

Bro can’t we do both? Comment from : Silver Britches |
Great video My experience tells me that the very people who say they can only afford 1/10s are the same people who can't afford to piss away money on the ridiculous premiums that come with those 1/10s Bottom line: save and buy full ounces Comment from : geifsanderson |
