Did you get this sorted in the end? My sons and I want to do a similar thing We want to extract the nickel from some nickel silver cutlery That is copper and nickel and maybe zinc I can't find any information on how to do it

You shouldnt use HCl, try nitric acid for fast process or sulfuric acid if you want to go cheap the precipetate with aluminum, dry it and use a magnet ;)

Curious I have tons of waukesha88 metal at my job the boss gave to me because our local scrap yards refuse to take it It has mostly nickel and some tin iron bismuth and chromium materials in it I want to seperate the nickel from it do you have any ideas I checked out the Monds process but it looks very complicated Any suggestions Please help

You are deliberately misunderstanding 18 USC Ch 17: COINS AND CURRENCY by cherry picking portions out of it to comfort the casual YouTube viewer You are also conflating two separate parts of the statute to make your spurious claims of immunity from the statute What's shown in the video is in fact highly illegal and could result in serious federal prison sentences and huge fines

That was a very akward video, plus you probably shouldnt be using acids for science experiments in your moms kitchen, contrary to what most people thinkthat vent hood over the stove isn't going to dispel hydrochloric or sulphuric gases - although I love your curiosity for as theres not alot of info on "nickel" - you probably shouldnt deface US currency on a YouTube video as it is a federal crimefood for thought -

Yo You did this just about as well as I could and I'm a college chemistry student I was looking into this for the other part of the reaction (hydrogen generation) because nickels are an easily accessible source of metal I totally recommend you keep pursuing chemistry if that's what interests you because you certainly have the skills

U could isolate nickel by passing h2s gas through the soln in presence of HCl this would ppt only CuS and Ni ions would remain in soln But a very large amount of H2S would be needed to ppt all the Cu ions as CuS
