UPDATE: The person I mentioned in this video ended up downgrading from the 800 Mbps plan to the 400 Mbps plan, which Xfinity says saves $20 per month Everything is going well for them so far The user says there's been no difference in the download speeds, which are more than 200 Mbps over Wi-Fi My guess is this person was sold an 800 Mbps internet plan even though their older router (owned, not rented) doesn't support those speeds Comment from : Michael Saves |

I would like to see IF you cancel your Cable Bill How do you deal with Internet Providers and DATA CAPS You Tube TV is very expensive I contacted DirecTV and was offered For One Year $7400 less expensive than You Tube TV and for 145 channels not 85 Comment from : Tony Salazar |

These are very valid points for the vast majority of people For us, though, we're staying with the 800 Mbps Xfinity Internet because that level offers better latency We have a gamer who is very sensitive to delayed ping For him, our current service is adequate, and it hits my maximum value point (translated: I don't wanna pay more) I'm waiting for AT&T Fiber to hit my neighborhood which is less expensive than Xfinity, and signing up for it at Costco has some compelling immediate and long-term benefits When the gamer goes off to college, we will be adjusting our Internet service level In related events, we are just about to drop Xfinity Cable TV for Hulu + Live TV Its service barely edged out YouTube TV's attractive offering and we'll see how Disney's October 2023 price increases affect my decision Comment from : Mike Risner |

The only time you need more speed is huge file downloads or a online gaming person/family Comment from : Deb Hufnagel |

I switched to T-Mobile ($30 per month) and I'll never go back to cable for Internet access ever again There's no more buffering, no more router issues or outages in parts of the house Even my outdoor stuff works flawlessly now Just walk into a T-Mobile store and you'll be up and running 5 minutes after getting it home Comment from : Andy Benach |

Xfinity prepaid internet $40 no caps 50 mb brMore than enough unless you are uploading 4k video Comment from : luvdady |

This exactly happened to us last week we got a bill from spectrum (Internet bill) $174 for 300 Mbps We had absolutely no idea why our bill was so high until we called Spectrum and they told us that our Mbps was 300 (That’s when they actually told us that there were other plans as well😒) We downgraded to 100 mbps because it’s crazy how much it was We don’t even have Cable or phone service with them Comment from : Gustavo Rodriguez |

I use my wired network as much as possible And unfortunately, even though I have a 10/100/1000 capable wired network, most a/v hardware tops out at 10/100 The Roku Ultra internal wired adapter tops out at 100 Mbps Never have a problem with any content at this speed So your correct as to many are overpaying for speed they don’t need However, with wireless devices faster is normally better But again at some point there is a level of diminishing return And in some cases people are paying for internet speeds that their older equipment can’t even provide Good article!! I have a 75 Mbps internet connection and that has been more than enough for me and my wife for years Only if you are uploading/downloading large files multiple times a day or gaming a lot, would you even notice a difference most of the time Comment from : Vaibhav Singh |

This seems to be the new scam, upcharging for speeds most people don't need brCurrently thinking about switching companies since ours is charging current customers the same price for 50 down that new customers get 500 down for Comment from : M M |

I still have Fios Gigabit because if I get any slower speed, it would be beat out by T-Mobile 5G on my iPhone and I can get over 800mbps even over Wi-Fi 6 Comment from : David Empire |

My parents are in their 80's and get tv "free" through their homeowners association The only time they use the Internet is to check their crossword puzzles They don't even watch the HD channels on their TV Xfinity of course gave them the highest Internet speed, paying over $150 a month Once my sister and I started paying their bills, we noticed it and got their cheapest plan Probably cost my parents $10,000 over the years Comment from : Richard smith |
|
We have T Mobile home internet, our other options are pricier We could get radio WiFi, Hughes or Star Link but we only pay $30 a month We get 200 down and that's plenty Companies pushing higher speeds are just playing on the perspective that faster is better and worth paying a lot more Comment from : Larry Johnson |
|
