Do you have a sub-compact tractor? What were your main concerns when you were shopping? Comment from : The Mindful Homestead |
For you, this makes sense Most people on small acreages (instead of an active homestead), would be better served getting a ZTR and a tandem wheel trailer to rent and haul other implements We have a side by side it’s a five way blade and a receiver, and an end dump trailer that we can also attach to the Kubota ZTR brMy neighbor takes 4x as long to cut grass with his Kubota middeck mower and sometimes 8x as long to move snow Snow blowers come with a lot of concerns, including jamming, gravel, jamming, wind, jamming, having to throw same snow twice or more, jamming, turn radius, did I mention jamming? Comment from : Steve Hansen |
You don't even need a homestead to benefit from a tractor Even on half an acre you can do so many outdoor projects without hurting yourself Install a pool Dig drainage trenches Trenches for electrical Mulch, raised beds etc etc Comment from : Comments Allowed: |

I agree wholeheartedly that your local dealer is one of the most important things about buying any tractor Pick someone with a good reputation that will go to bat for you with warranty issues and provide service after the sale If it's a Massey Ferguson dealer than that is a plus 😆 Comment from : Old North State Outdoors |
My Kubota B2620 is by far the BEST investment on my acreage Comment from : Ryan |
If you want to use your body labor don't get a tractor If you don't, do! Comment from : Henry Morgan |
This was the review I needed Just moved to a 3 acre property and needed a tool with the ability to mow and move a bit of soil and gravel Comment from : Gas Masher |

I love my Kubota L4060 LE (a regular compact/utility size) even though I haven't gotten yet from my dealer hahaha ! Seriously though I may buy a subcompact in the next 5 years if I find a use for having two tractors of course Comment from : Eric Owens |
Great video Right on I had small wood lot for 30 years before i got my BX 2 years ago I can do in 2 h what used to take me 1day or more with a wheel barrel and an ATV (+ small trailer) I regret not buying one 3 decades ago Now with 150 acres + i am looking at a bigger one like the mx5400 Fyi: i will sell my Bx for at least what I paid for it It keeps good value Comment from : Jean-Yves Durocher |
A tractor would help me so much just maintaining my driveway Gravel driveway washes out and the road at the end of my driveway as well Also I need I need to make more trails!! Comment from : Dan Jim |
Mine didn't come with a skid steer quick attach for some reason Comment from : Isaiah McMillian |
Heck yeah, you need a tractor You buy a place so you can justify a tractor! Buy an old one for a reasonable price They don't lose value - inflation hedge! And, for a known brand, you can still get parts even for 50+ year old tractors Comment from : David Lewis |
I bought a lightly used BX2670, I use it for all kinds of things, blowing snow, moving stone and dirt, countless pallets of materials I could not imagine not having one and doing that work manually Comment from : xdude2x |
Man easily justifies what he wants to For many owning a compact or subcompact is like owning a boat or a camper or a motorcycle Something that never gets discussed are the real long term requirements of a tractor All I see are the green and orange ones and how great they are Talk about features How much plastic on them? Simple things like cruise control or bucket level indicator Resale only counts when you care about resale I don't plan to sell mine so I don't care Almost all of these stories are about non commercial use The green ones get built by different companies every few years Comment from : Chris Malchoff |
I purchased a BX 2380 with belly mower and loader I love it but put ballast on the back! It is tippy! Comment from : Don Raptor |
No I need a simple set of radiator hoses for my BX and they’re listed as obsolete You might want to reconsider a Kubota BX Comment from : Chief Joseph |

Boom ! I like it ;-) Comment from : THOR DEUS VULT |
From Australia my BX23S which I love cost an arm and a leg approx $33000 however payment plan made it easy I have 5 acres mostly scrubby bush country with clay soils and went for the BX mainly for the maneuverability of the mower which has been great but it's meant many of the jobs I want to do as in carry soil with my very limited in size 4 in 1 FEL and extremely slow and weight handicapped Backhoe and although it punches above its weight next time round I would opt for a size or two larger and get a separate mower I find I am constantly working the BX at it's limits or beyond Comment from : Jonathan D |

Thank you for the video it was very informative Comment from : axe |

Potentially dumb question but when you buy one of these does it come with the mower deck and the front bucket as well or is it just the bare bones tractor and you buy the mower deck and bucket additionally? Comment from : Jacob |
Great advice there at the end regarding "the dealer" I was kind of sold on a brand until you said that Thanks Great video Comment from : Neil MacKinnon |

I got a riding mower, works as a plow and some ground engaging stuff, but it's definitely not a tractor We definitely don't need one, though of course it could be nice for some things It's technically considered a "lawn tractor" butlet's be honest Comment from : BarelyFree |

observation: There isn't any question that yard needs one Quite frankly the next size up would be better I assure anyone debating buy one that they will forget the cost the next day Some things we buy in life works that way You will constantly be down the road delivering, visiting, or helping a widow with free plowing Any widow near me is free for life I plow 15-20 drives mainly for fun Comment from : itsruf1 |

I really really really want this awesome toy The problem is I am no Bill Gates, so I have to justify it financially, and no matter how I look at it I can’t With 0 84 months financing a $30,000 tractor with basic implements would cost $357 per month That’s every single month for seven years! I might need to move some compost or wood chips once a year, do some digging and grading once every few years, etc If I hire a professional with a big tractor every time I need and pay $100 an hour, I can’t imagine spending more than a $1,000 a year That’s less than a quarter of the cost of owning it And that assumes me hiring a professional ten times every year, which is not going to happen The only reason to own a tractor like this is the same reason people own speed boats, sports cars, snowmobiles and the like It is a very expensive toy to be enjoyed by those who can and nothing more Please convince me I’m wrong Comment from : Different Handyman |
Great job I purchased my B2601 last year and love it I can't imagine not having it, but you're right that you should have a definite need for a tractor I actually damaged mine, which you may have seen So you're also right to recognize the equipment's limitations Keep up the great work! -Ed Comment from : My Cluttered Garage - Outdoors and DIY |

Hey bud brWhere‘d you get that price overview from ? I dunno maybe this is a German thing but buying always brings me to a dealer location page and they mostly say call to get a price, only on the solis page I get a price So did you just hit Tütchen Kobota Website or is that some dealer website ? Comment from : jfly609 |
Hey bud you may want to put dulleys on it, much more stable Comment from : Iron Leather Wood |

My late wife and I owned our property for 8 years before we had saved enough to by a L3200 It completely changed the land ownership experience I recently added a B2301 to my equipment and I have never regretted any purchase Add my side by side utv to the mix and I'm able to do whatever task or project comes up It really helps to be able to tackle any job Comment from : Cleon Main |
💥 Great video! I find so many uses for my BX tractor on our small property It handles whatever I can throw at it brbKeep on tractoring/b Comment from : A RITTER BIT WILL DO |

A "good zero turn" is at least 12k Buy a bx For the same price and gradually add attachments! A zero only mows law A subcompact is a platform for growth limited only by $$$ It's a big only but at least it can grow with you Comment from : John |
Well spoken! Dealership relationship is important I have a Gravely zthd zero turn My dealership will keep my buisness by the way they treat me I even buy my oil and filters from them Even knowing I can order online cheaper Respect is a two way street Comment from : Troy eager |

We have been in our house for 6 years and never want to here the word wheel barrel again lol What are the limitations for the bx? We have a lot of tree clearing (ash) I need the back hoe but couldn’t afford the B series with one so I’m torn between the 2 Heavier lifting or backhoe Thanks Comment from : Kevin Nilsen |
Hey My dad was looking at one of these for our 2 acre farm It looks cool and is affordable for us Comment from : Jacob Bio |
Yeh, even if you're not "farming", if you have a few acres and you do your own landscaping, with fallen trees to clear occasionallyit's just hard without having at least a loader I got by with a garden tractor for a few years and I was like, ok enough of this jazz Comment from : Pond Acres |
great vlog 👍 Comment from : Moondiver |
Just watched on my tv We had a John Deer compact tractor and I loved it, but since we had the 90HP Internationnal and needed the skidder we changed the little guy for the beast I do miss it though Comment from : Quebec Homestead |

Sometime soon! Nice rig Comment from : Break Free Homestead |

When I was weighing the pro and cons of buying a tractor, my wife's response was "Well the tractor want costs $24,000, if you mess up your back doing stuff around here $24,000 in medical bills will add up quick" Case closed! Next week I got my tractor! CHEERS! brPS added bonus is the tractor has become my psychiatrist! :) Comment from : Brian Hutchinson |
Wrong color orange :-p Great advice Certainly a tractor isn't for every homestead But, if they make sense, they are a HUGE time and back saver I like to say, they help you do dumb stuff more quickly!!! And I 100 agree dealer relationship is key Comment from : The Homestead Journey |
I enjoy your channel! I have had a Kubota BX2380 for 6 months I have very hilly and wooded acreage, and the tractor feels tippy on most side slopes I cannot access most of my yard because of that I have added 3 inch wheel spacers and wheel weights on the rear wheels, and all the tires are loaded If I did it again, I would just rent a skid-steer to maintain my gravel driveway Live and learn! Comment from : Lodge At Misty Hollow |
What you say in the intro is very true, usually you don't need a tractor brWe have been here 5 years without one, even though it would be tremendously useful We personally chose to build infrastructure, make some improvements on the house, etc firstbrBut I cannot argue that a tractor would be a huge asset here, too! We mostly need a loader and a box scraper, personally Comment from : Oak Knob Farm |
According to Neil Messick, running out of diesel in these newer tractors is no big deal Comment from : Jeffrey Freeman |
A sub-compact was absolutely the right choice for our homestead We have had a BX23S for about eight months and it is such a great machine We were on our land for about a year without it You are right that you don’t NEED a tractor on the homestead but it sure becomes invaluable when you have one We also use our Land Pride pallet forks more than the bucket Just picked up a GS1548 for maintaining our gravel road and it was a great investment Great video! Comment from : Slab Fork Homestead |
