I bought one of these when I got back into collecting watches, It was one of the original models back in the day I had it for about a month before I returned it, though I didn't return it for any flaw, I returned it because I was able to get a Seiko alpinist at a really good price Now I'll confess, the reason why the alpinist was so appealing is because I have RSI pain and larger watches tend to exacerbate it That being said, the kamasu did not cause wrist pain for me despite its size I think this is because of its case length which is relatively compact for a 42 mm watch Just for reference, I own a Tudor black Bay Ceramic (41mm) and I can't wear it more than 3 hours without it hurting my wrist If I was going to buy another affordable dive watch, I would absolutely get another kamasu, you really can't beat the value proposition of this watch Comment from : Abeltensor |
I love my red dial Kamasu, I do wish it came with a nice solid link bracelet though Comment from : Someone Nearyou |

I don't understand why are automatic watches so popular because my Orient sun and moon goes behind one minute every week so I do not find it fun adjusting time so often Comment from : Miroslav Lesic |

My beater mako is unbelievably reliable Unfortunately, it didn't come with a sapphire crystal Comment from : Yeti Vanmarshall |

Im really looking foward to buy this one, but im afraid it will not fit my small wrist I think im a 62” inch wrist size Will it be too big for me? Comment from : Ignacio Lanusse |
The Citizen Automatic Promaster Dive Watch blows this Orient watch clearly out of the water and the Citizen is also ISO certified Who in the world would pay for this Orient watch when the Citizen has a similar price, sapphire crystal and is ISO certified? Matter of fact, the Citizen also blows the Seiko SKX out of the water because Seiko has QC issues and does not include a sapphire crystal Comment from : Yuutuub Critikkk |
I bought a Kamasu, but opted for the somewhat different "pepsi" ring version with round hour markers I regret doing that, especially since it was more expensive I like the stock blue dial Kamasu with the tapered rectangular hour markers brOrient is a great brand, for the price of the stock Kamasu, it is a definite winner Only drawback, the lume is not great Comment from : supermash1 |
Is the bezel inlay scratch proof?brI used to own a Ray II and i was disappointed that the inlay was made from aluminum and got scratched quickly Comment from : Hakim Mohamad |

Nice touch with that pilot metro m nib in the background Comment from : No No |

Orient maybe the best first best automatic, but Orient is a good for any purchase I like Japanese products, integrity brand quality All I need are Casio, Seiko, and Orient, not some over priced Rolex Comment from : Arnold Gibbs |
They have copied the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 007s Comment from : Romulus |
How do i know if my orient has a japanese mechanism? Comment from : Vanya_bandzz |
the way to review this watch should be to compare it with other watch of similar price range, not seiko willard or much more expensive watch, so does any watch of this price range had this level of quality or spec Comment from : Allah Turbo |
I started (well, re-started) with a Seiko SRPH87K1 for around €230, with a 4R35 calibre, in my opinion much more elegant Comment from : Daniel Karner |

Its a real beauty 🫠 Comment from : Alexander von Humboldt |
I have one Great watch! Comment from : kamran102 |
got the dark red with red bezel and slapped a strapcode BOR bracelet on it Damn it looks and feels good! The original bracelet is not doing the watch justice U need a tapering bracelet of higher quality than the original to match this beautiful piece of machinery! Comment from : Kim Andersson |
My first automatic (other than the Doxa I inherited) was a Seiko SKN805 If I member correctly, the second was a Chinese "homage," the third was an Orient TriStar, and the fourth was a blue-dial Kamasu Now I own six Orient dive-style watches, including a "Baby Triton," which I think is a better watch That said, my black-dial Mako II gets the most wrist time of all my Orients Comment from : Ranger Smith |
love my orient, it's a great watch Comment from : Bb |
The Kamasu was my first automatic watch purchase a few months ago Absolutely love it Threw a nato strap on it right out of the box I find myself using the bezel to track elapsed time quite oftenbrbrSeems like a great gateway watch Great video! Comment from : Lee Richardson |
My first automatic whatch the orient ray, i think it looks better than this, now theres no safire but till today i have 0 scratches on it Orient is amazing Comment from : NVC |
The same watch as my Orient Ray, but the Ray is beautyful, this thing not Comment from : artbergmann |
I am having a hard time deciding which Kamasu to get Blue is out since I already have a blue face Seiko diver I am leaning towards the burgundy or black🤔 Comment from : Alex |
Very good presentation I like Orient a lot I don’t understand why one needs to spend more money I can’t see a reason to do so or I possibly would Seiko is excellent as well Also Casio is nothing to laugh at either brAs a general rule Japanese companies are very reliable to do business withbrIn my youth for work reasons I would go to Japan a few times a year I like the culture and the people very much Comment from : Arnold Gibbs |
This is not available for 200$ everywhere I could see the cost in India is 45,000 INR which translates to 570$ and that’s a huge amount considering per capita/ average income in India Comment from : Raman Sharma |
Do all watches go up in value or hold there value? What's a good brand orient, seiko, citizen?? Am new at this Comment from : B3TO D2024 |
I think all the colors are so attractive, yet the black just has such an elegance about it Comparing all my watches, the black Kamasu is just the best all arounder I own It's on a Strapcode bracelet as the stock one is garbage and the hollow end links caused the springbars to deform in only a few months Comment from : derbagger22 |
is there any better bracelets ? Comment from : S M |
Which oneOrient Ray II or Kamasu if not worrying about a sapphire glass? Comment from : Orlando Brown |
Great videos by the way!!!!!!! Comment from : Orlando Brown |
For warranty which is better amazon or jomashop? If I remember to get warranty you need to buy from Amazon and Amazon ship no third party, but jomashop has it's ok warranty? Comment from : Orlando Brown |
I need to upgrade my ray 2 it's essentially the same way but mine is all scratched up due not having a sapphire crystal Comment from : Joon Lee |
I had this watch, the movement felt gritty winding it Sold it Comment from : JIM VAV |
Love my Kamasu but it started gaining time If I didn't reset the time it would gain between 3-5 minutes in one week :-( I contacted Orient on Sept 13th and made arrangements to send it to the only repair center in the country in California I have been in constant contact with them but I still don't have my watch back yet on 11-24 Is this the normal turn around time for a repair? I love their watches and the low cost for a high quality automatic but the repair process for this brand could seriously use some improvement Comment from : Kevin Tobias |
Could you please elaborate the Mako and Kamasu confusion? I gave the red dial jdm version of this watch, got from Amazon Japan but I still didn’t get which one is Kamasu, which one is Mako or which version This is really confusing 🧐 Comment from : Martell Barchaletta |
I have a good sized collection containing German, Swiss, and Japanese watches But I’ve never owned an Orient Since Black Friday is tomorrow…maybe I’ll have to do a serous search Great video Thanks Happily Holidays Comment from : Kyle |

200 bones for a entry levelthat's not happening Give me something $100 or below Comment from : J Gz |
I dropped a brand new Seiko 5 and it would have been fine except the glass case back chipped sending a glass fragment into the works Honestly, I barely dropped it No more glass case backs for me I bought another Seiko 5 and I hand wound it and the rubber seal buggered right up in it No more Seiko 5s for me The Orient watches are a good value, however keep in mind that repairs to Orient watches have to be done in house as Orient does not sell parts for their watches to anyone! Comment from : Cameron Krause |
Thanks for the video, this kamasu the Seiko 5 sports and pagani design pd-1639 are the ones I've been looking at for a first automatic, I have a 75 inch wrist size and currently I still wear my trusted casio duro which is on the limit in size, which one would you recommend thx in advance Comment from : Peter Vernelen |
I have Orient Kamasu and Seiko Sumo Hulk and can say it compares I think the red dial is better but I have a sunburst green for a low key design Despite being small I like it since it fits my wrist better but I prefer a larger case and face of the sumo as I am used to big cases The sizes are not very far from each other and is very tolerable even for my small wrist Comment from : Pinikpikan TV |
its for around 400 usd in my reigon but I still really like it, should I get it ? Comment from : dron rajpal |
I bought it this summer 2022 in blue - My first automatic it's honestly a great watch for the price ! Comment from : Blunt 33 |
I have a Version 1 and a Version 2 Tremendous value Obviously the crown is too small (easy fixnot sure why they ignore it) and the bracelets are cheap but otherwise great pieces! 👍 Comment from : SPG 565 |
It is a shame that after a common complaint from everyone out there, Orient ignored the small crown issue when “re-designing” the kamasu Comment from : N/A |
its a very solid watch for the price Truly one of my most impressive pieces in terms of value The hand winding is not the smoothest but small pick It's a great watch Comment from : P W |
Beautiful watch , can you tell me what color is this watch that you are reviewing, Thank you Comment from : jranda1051 |
