Hello, my husband had 28 yrs, he is 71 and I am turning 62 in April I would like to wait on SS until 67 if I accept the annuity benefits would this reduce my social security benefits? My SS benefit at this time would be about 170000 so I am thinking of waiting until 67 due to the 30 penalty if I take it now Thanks for any help

HellobrGreat content,brI have a question, I will be 60 this year and have 23 years of railroad service so far, I have also been contributing to social security for over 30 years so far, is it true that I will have to forfeit one or the other when I retire?brbrThanks

First, thanks for the information you put out, I hope others find it as beneficial as I do Second, the nerd in me is coming out and I don't remember you addressing this in any of your previous videos As you stated, Tier 2 is calculated by taking the average of your 60 highest months of earnings * years of service * 007 brbr(1) Are those individual 60 months of earnings capped in any way to a maximum amount? br(2) If they are capped how is that amount calculated? br(3) Logic tells me that if there is a cap on earnings it would probably be tied, in someway, to the cap on Tier 2 contributions br(4) How are "years of service" calculated? brbrThanks, in advance, for the response

Hey John, a two part question for you What happens to my social security credits when I retire from the railroad? I worked many years at various part time jobs while working my main job on the rr and payed into social security also Part two is should my wife take her social security payment or just the railroad retirement spouse portion when she is eligible? Can she take both? Thanks John, love the information you provide!brFrank R
