One thing I would add is if you lose your Thai bank ATM card or it gets damaged or kept by the ATM machine, ihey will replace it on the spot if you go to a branch Thus there is no waiting for it to be posted to you, like what would happen in the UK Going on your latest performance Buzzin I would imagine that travellers cheques are dead Comment from : Peter Cook |

over the years i have found that some gold shops will give a good exchange rate , just pop in and ask if they will change some currency, they are more likely to do it if your exchanging quite a large amount , Comment from : Nigel Anderson |
I am obviously a mug, I use an ATM card for spending money and credit card for accommodation, get charged by the Thai bank B200 and my home bank b100 for the transaction and get out B10 000 lots wise that's stuff all and I don't have to worry about theft I have two wallets 1 contains my credit card and 50 of my money and some ID, the other has my ATM card plus some ID and once I have arrived I never carry them togetherbr On another note, when I go to Jomtien, that's when I hire a scooter for a couple of days just to get the biking bug out of my system Comment from : des render |

Definitely worth opening a Thai bank account, Bangkok Bank will let you do it on a tourist visa, you can get the paperwork to do it from a place called Mannerat on Soi 13/2brbrExchange booth wise, aside from TT there are a couple of blue Money Exchange Booths on Buakhao near the RCon Chicane and LK Royal Suites that offer really good rates as does the booth at the top of Soi 6 on 2nd Road Comment from : Paul Rodgers |
Last year i noticed that many TT Exchange"Shops" have diffrent rates So dont change your money at the 1st TT you see Walk a bit arround and check the others too brAt these times everyone i happy to earn some extramoney so it dont wonder me that they give better rates inside Little profit is better than no profitbrbrI also use transferwise You can hold diffrent currency on your account For example you put british pound into your account and change it into baht when the rates are fine brI often had the beste exchange rates when i was at home I hate this :) Now with TW i can change Euro into Baht when the rates are fine and dont need to stay in Thailand At the moment i have Euro, Baht, Dong, USD and Yen on my Transferwise Account because last year i had the plan to travel to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Japan brbrBut TW take a little tax for this service But its cheaper than ATM since CC like from DKB is not longer for free Comment from : Mi No |
Beach looks better after a year or so of no tourists I thought Hooters was over-price and over-rated, but to each their own I was living up near Korat in Nongki, used to ride a Honda moped to Pattaya and back 🤣🤣 Comment from : Rodney Ritchie |

Phulet will officially open to tourists without quarantee on July 1st, but I don't know about Pattaya This news has been in The Phuket News and The Bangkok Post As to changing money, I always use the exchange booths, of which there is no shortage The differences in the exchange rates are minimal Also, I always stay at hotels I can trust and keep my money in the safe I have recentty stayed at the Bayview and Bayshore hotels without any problems - Thanks for the many videos! 👍 Comment from : Lassi Vakkilainen |

thanks for this vlog, very informative, couple of points i would like to add: Kasikorn have always been easy to use, the one on Pattaya Klang down near 2nd road has some very good English speaking staff, i have also found they will exchange notes that the kiosks refuse (light damage and/or writing only), Indian foodbest for me is Tikka centre opposite the top of Soi Honey, good prices, and very good food The Avenue, i have heard the main part of the mall has been sold to an Indian consortium and will be converted to an Indian type of Nana Plaza (named Nan Plazavery clever!) Comment from : tony matthews |
really enjoy watching your videos good to get a face to a video! also makes me remember pattayaaaaaaa Comment from : Tales Against Humanity |

In all my trips to Thailand I have only ever exchanged US dollars as I am from the USA However I do have some cash in British pound and Japanese yen, you know from a previous time when international travel was permitted 🤦🏻♂️ Do you think I would be able to exchange those in Thailand? (Assuming they freely reopen someday) I know you can always find that place that doesn’t check your passport, I guess my question is more is it legal than possible Thank you Comment from : PittsVegas |
No need to be afraid of ATMs Just use an ATM that is affixed to a real bank during the bank's business hours That way, if you have any problems, the bank personnel will be able to assist you (retrieve your ATM card, etc) No need to be afraid of ATM fees if you use a bank that refunds ATM fees and has no foreign exchange fees (Schwab and Fidelity for example) I carry both with me on trips (leave one in hotel), so if something happens to one, I always have another backup ATM card Note: The Fidelity credit card has a foreign transaction fee but the Fidelity ATM card does not (not to be confused with one another) Comment from : maplecharlie |
I always used the yellow exchange booths, particularly the one near Arcon Bar I've used the curry house you mentioned, albeit 6-7 yrs ago But the best chicken Madras I've had on the planet was in New plaza about halfway through Best English breakfast used to be in the butcher's arms Now sadly gone Best and least costly eatery in Pattaya is on Soi Buakaou, nearly opposite Sugar A Go-go going towards Oasis ago-go Sometimes referred to as the tin cup cafe Meals from 30 baht, but it's 90 Thai cuisine, which I love Yet to find my favourite bar Far too many to mention Best accommodation is the first I ever stayed in, Flipper Lodge hotel, Soi 8 back in February, '07But strangely never been back in 9-10 subsequent visits Not even been to Thailand in 5+ years Missing Pat's, big-time Comment from : Manos para vida |
I've had a problem in the past trying to change currency which is damaged or has been written on but i agree despite the risks you will get a better exchange rate with cash Comment from : nicholas archer |

Travelers cheques are still available but less of a requirement these days with multitude of atm's popping up in holiday hot spots and credit or debit cards being used all over the world, in fact some places refuse them now as they are more of a problem to them than bank cards The only benefit really is that if you lose or have them stolen you can get your money back, but in buying them you have paid a small fee to insure them for this Comment from : Graham Johnson |
I always go over the counter at Krungsri bank, usually at the one in central festival You dont have any limits on how much you can withdraw, no fees and the rate tends to be better than other places I have used travellers cheques in Thailand but not since 2008, I dont know if anyone out there still takes them I agree with avoiding ATM's but if you do use one you usually get a voucher for a free can of coke in Family Mart lol Comment from : Michael Morgan |
I will be there as soon as they drop the quarantine! I have debated the idea of coming now for a month but cant see spending half of that locked in a government approved hotel room Comment from : HD Cordes |

If you want to exchange money in the airport, go downstairs to where they're all located, turn to the right (if I remember correctly), and use any kiosk that's not on carpet The airport fees end where the carpet ends, so you get a better exchange rate even at the airport Comment from : Glynn Callagain |
