Prepping for Florida summer bugout sucks From experience but there are upsides and downside I think food is way more abundant and we dont really have large predators Downside are tons of rain and all the trees are pine and insects and snakes brSidenote: Its funny how most preppers have a gun wall and since your in Canada you have a medieval weapons wall

Great videos I’ve never been a fan of the “Gray man” bag or gear Here is why; when SHTF happens, people are going to go after your stuff regardless of what are you wearing or carrying So it doesn’t really matter whether you got tactical backpacks, Or a Jansport backpack Might as well keep the tactical gear ready The only benefit of having gray man items is pre-SHTF to blend in

One thing I never see anyone mention in their bugout bag is a drill There is a device that the old guys might remember called a yankee drill It’s basically a small hand held drill that you can use to drill into wood, plastic and very light metals like aluminum, copper, and tin It would be useful in lots of situations and is only the size of a flashlight Just my thoughts I carry one in my bag for an emergency hand drill

A suggestion on the kit regarding the radio Would not a pair of headphones be a good idea If you are trying to avoid notice it would great dampen the sound from the radio Though ear buds would be best so one ear can be left listening

I have been doing major lifestyle changes for the last 50+ years and watch prepper videos for tips Here are a couple of my own Get used to eating a more varied diet which is lower on the food chain Currently, I grow a lot of our own food and we are now retired in southern France Sweet corn is a good food to grow and you can grind the dried kernels for cornmeal to make corn bread and polenta Get off the obsession with wheat I grow wheat, rye and bucwheat which I scythe and hand thresh, but I don't attempt to grow enough for all our needs Once we can't get baguettes and croissants, we will default to a low wheat intake Potatoes and dried beans are our staple crops, but I also grow sunchokes as a survival food We are flexitarian so that we can eat meat when it is available When I was a vegetarian, I got sick when I had a meat meal, so now we have a little bit of meat - mostly for flavoring - and are more flexible Get your body toughened up, down to your core metabolic processes and be mentally tough too I am universally excoriated as a doomer on social media but I don't care I give away a lot of food every year and that shuts 'em up

Another thing to take into consideration when choosing the right flashlight Relating specifically to flashlights that take batteries Make sure that you understand the more lumens of flashlight has the more energy it consumes and the less time you will have to be able to use it A lot of flashlights on the market today offer features that allow for different lumen options However some don't so keep that in mind when choosing the correct flashlight I agree with Canadian prepper 200 is sufficient for most applications It's the better rounded option for battery preservation

Flashlights have come a LONG way in technology Back in about 1997, as a police officer I bought a Surefire 6P, which was a great flashlight at 120 lumens I think it was about $150 USD Now a $15 pen light has more than 120 lumens
