But I don't have foreign friends even If I wanted to learn Russian or Portuguese how would I use the language, I don't have the money to travel, I personally believe that learning languages can be either worth the time or a waste of time, So the only two languages I find useful for my life are English and Spanish maybe for you those languages are french and japanese

I am a born polyglot since the local environment I grew up with is linguistically diverse Yet, I started learning (foreign) languages as a hobby later in life I started Spanish when I was 15 as it amused me to see thousands of words in Spanish that are similar to what we use everyday (I am a Filipino anyway, and Philippines did have long history with Spain) My method, however, didn't work and I get frustrated for a decade It was until the pandemic that I started using italki where I met a Spanish polyglot who taught me his life hacks, and I did managed to become 'conversant' in Spanish after a year Now, I am starting to acquire French and German altogether, and I can say that this is indeed my passion in life brbrSince I learned foreign languages 'in a real deal', I began to feel like I am became a different person than I was I feel just like I woke up one morning and I became confident about myself I started to feel not be averse into anything new and uncertain, and I am always in to staying out of my comfort zone I am not rich enough to afford travelling abroad, but through learning new rules and complexities of a language, as well as making friends with people from different culture, it helps me widen my perspective brbrThis new hobby has made me a new person that a timid and insecure me from a decade ago would sure be proud to see

It's possible for a person who reads on a medium level (B1-B2) after many hard work and a large amount of time to can read a book in English (of course understanding the whole book as a native speaker)? I read two first books of Harry Potter, The Expanse (sc-fi series previously I watched the series) now I read Steve Jobs written by Walter Isaacson ( I read in my native language couple months ago) I try read every day articles from BBC News but they are hard to read in my opinion :D
