I think learning theories are considered to be like some scattered oral or written-form opinions Most of them not approved yet, others convey a personal respective for some obsessed scientists to create a show and hey look! I am here It's my theory and the result is NullbrIn my humble opinion, learning is a process It can be done by any means in anytime by anyone Comment from : Saleh |
I really don't get the part where the doctor says "these are only theories" or the part where the doctor says "of course you cannot prove it"brBy definition, a theory is something that you can prove, otherwise it is merely a conjecture These kind of statements leave me pretty confused Comment from : Elia Pacifico |

Hi! I am developing an essay about general theories on learning and acquisition of a foreign language and I have a question about the theories you explained They are supposed to be language learning theories, so I assume that they explain how people LEARN the language But what about how we ACQUIRE the language? Chomsky seems to explain how we acquire the language, not how we learn it Also, Karshen seems to explain that we can learn the foreign language in the same way we acquired the first (in a natural way) Would you consider important to divide these theories into LEARNING and ACQUISITION, or do you think it’s just better to explain them all together with a brief explanation of the difference between these two terms?brbrThank you and thanks for your time! Greetings from Spain :) Comment from : Diana Agudiez |

Language learning is not all about acquiring, it about how we deliver the words or how fluent we are Language is very important to us, it's all about on how we comprehend and how you understand the meaning of the words We learn language through our interaction to others we need to express our knowledge for us to be consistent by our own language Comment from : Im Sarah |

I think the combination of these theories would make an excellent learning program For example you may consider behaviourist theory by giving sweet-talk when they do it properly, for the Krashen's Monitor you just communicate with your students in the language you teach, for the cognitive you make them write down the basic grammar rules, for the conversation you make them watch short dialogues in the language you teach and make them talk to each other and lastly for the acculturation you may take them to the country for a month or 2 weeks so that they might have chance to use that language in order to be part of life there Comment from : Cihat Damar |
She is completelly wrong about the behaviorist approach It´s wrong what she said about it Comment from : Paulo Gomes |
Human beings naturally act of acquiring new knowledge, skills and values learning means bringing changes , by learning human inter to new society and culture when they learned new knowledge they act on it otherwise they lose it when say learning means bringing changes (behaviorism ) and when we say acquire new knowledge or gain more information (cognitive skills ) learning empower our brain and thoughts ,so it encourage our intellectual power to gain more knowledge I think all those six(behaviorism, cognitive , constructivism , universal grammar theory, orientation in new culture ) theories related to language learning Comment from : Fatema Mushtaq |
