You're not correct in your interpretationbrIt's called junk silver because it has no numismatic value The value of the coin is based only on spot price of silver and the amount of silver in the coin

I visited a local Coin shop Saturday, and was talking about junk silver He had never heard the story about how, in 1964, a 1964 quarter would buy a gallon of gas, about 20-25 cents at the time If you had a 1964 quarter today, you could sell it at the LCS and take the cash and buy a gallon of gas He got it before I finished the story 'cause he understands the value of real money, and it's value over time

I think what we are going to find moving forward is Junk is going to draw higher and higher premiums as scarcity increases Where as they make rounds, Eagles, Maples, Brits, etc, etc, etc every year No more pre 64 coinage will ever be made

I really like junk silver US Constitutional is great but I like all junk silver Early British, Canadian and Australian is sterling 925 and I like the crowns, half crowns, florins, shillings, sixpence and Threepence coins I try to stay away from anything less than 80 but I do make some exceptions if it's one of the types I collect but I don't look for anything less than 50 silver At that point the premiums coupled with the sheer weight of coinage and only half of it silver is a burden so I pass on the war nickels and the 40 halves

Silver is ok, but I really like junk silver better because it has a history With that being said, I like gold better because it's always been number 1, but it also doesn't take up so much room
