Don’t buy anything with either an Intek or a Kohler Courage if you can avoid it Both are horribly flawed engines that are ripe for failure Head gaskets and compression releases go at very low hours on the Inteks and the Top Cover bolts will back out on the Courage and crack the crankcase unless you retorque them at least once a year Comment from : D S |
Great lawn tractor Comment from : jenardbolt123 |
The Easy Change does not change the oil or only about 1/4 quart, that’s a filter change not an oil change Comment from : Daniel Clint |

I heard in 1991 that the JD 318 was quite good and hydrostatic which was a little new for a garden tractor I found a 1987 model and bought it for $3200 , at auction There was one other person who wanted it, so I thought that I overpaid at the time It is still going strong with an Onan engine Routine maintenance and kept in the garage Comment from : Douglas Van Dyke |

I used to have the cheap Lowes grade JD 42" tractor, the deck welds broke off making the tractor a danger! I now have the JD X300 48"had to remove the pulley guards as they get clogged with grass, and added a shock absorbing seat because the stock seat is awful Also the deck flushing attachment is a jokejust makes the grass clippings wet Just pull the tractor up on ramps and scrape with a BBQ grill brush after cutting Other than that it's reliable and starts when I want it to Comment from : Hobby Cow |
I have a gx345 in Ohio I'm moving to a 1/2 acre lot and I'm looking for a good John Deere lawn tractor to buy got any recommendations? Comment from : Bord Fronco |
As a former John Deere service manager, stay away from the D and S series tractors JUNK They are John Deere branded for the Home Depot and Lowes The motor cowling may say John Deere, but in fact is a cheap briggs and stratton Go to the dealership and look at the X series More money, but you will not be disappointed a few years down the road I can't tell you how many times customers had very high expectations of the green and yellow brand, only to be seriously disappointed by the product within a year Comment from : Chris Moody |
Ah, the HECK with these newer tractors! Their ALL junk! They all are designed to break completely down within 5 years after you buy them I have a Cub Cadet tractor, a International Harvester Cub Cadet tractor 982, with a 50 inch mower deck, and it's STILL going to this day Also, have a 1973 and 1974 Power King tractors one used for plowing snow and landscaping the other for mowing the grass, and they to, are still going with good ole Kohler engines in them Go Figure Comment from : Dan Basta |
Never by a John Deere! Nothing runs like a Deere cause they hardly run! Don’t take it from me, they’re made cheaper and cheaper and every part is replaceable cause if it’s a john it will need to be replaced! That’s a promise Comment from : BHR Behavioral Health Racing |
I can tell you about the cub cadet, its steering system sucks, its very hard to operate Comment from : G L Archer |

I've had the cub cadet for 5 years now mowing 2 acres a week for about 9 months a year I can share real world experience In 5 years I've had to change the belt twice, battery twice, blades once, and spindles once I do yearly engine oil and fuel/air filters and engine still runs like new with no leaks or smoke The cub is a solid choice and I would buy again Comment from : ufosaboveus |
I just bought the new Cub Cadet and I love it Comment from : Mike Shortridge |
The best one is the one I have of course 😊 Comment from : James Voit |
Both made by mtd one cost more for the name and more breakable push button features that’s what John Deere sucks don’t know a person that got more than five years out of one before all hell broke loos with nothing more than problems after problems Comment from : Wes Monahan |

Go to John Deere dealer and look at X series Stay away from home depot The cub and JD at box stores share the same exact cheap transmission The trans is the weak point Cannot handle heavy work without burning up the hydro They are use and throw away tractorsboth of them Comment from : JohnnyRebKy |

I've had my JD D140 for 6 years and love it I mow 2 acres with hills and it climbs the hill with no problems I added their bagger system and a JD 10P cart I haul wood, mulch, and sand around in the cart with no issues I was so impressed with JD quality I bought a JD 1025R sub compact tractor last summer and love it So, those who say JD quality isn't what is used to be are wrong I have several friends with various Deere lawn tractors and they all swear by them So I do believe that nothing run like a Deere I have nothing to say bad about other tractors but I love the Deere brand and recommend them Comment from : D Man |
I have the Club Cadet I'm very pleased with it When the hot weather hits, I'm not sweating it as much When the fall leaf season hits it's easy Comment from : Dennis Millmer |
In my experience the John Deere S240 beats everey other lawn mower I have ever owned I had owned Allis Chelmers, Husquvarna, Cub, Poulan, Troy and a couple I can't remember the name The JD far surpasses all the other brands as far as ease of maintenance and performance My S240 has a 100 steel frame with all 300 parts on it Kawasaki 185 v twin engine, 300 front axel, 300 transaxel, Divided seat and PTO Comment from : Tom n |
These are mostly crap mowers Poulon pro? Really? Comment from : Moonzie Moonzie |
My LT180 from 2005 still runs perfectly Just put new belts on it this summer Only Issue I ever had with it was a voltage regulator; I think it was $12 to replace Comment from : Chris Breidenbaugh |
My JD dealer will not sell E100 E110 e120 Say have trouble with smaller motor and cheap gears They start at the e130 Great mower Comment from : Ronald Grey |
I replaced my JD LA105 with a JD X570 54" deck It is a beast Comment from : Thomas Kendrick |
If you want a truly good machine, I recommend any Cub Cadet built before 2000, but especially a narrow frame tractor from the 60s/70s because they are built as actual tractors Also recommended is an old John Deere from the same time era, such as 110 112 140 210 318 420, etc Comment from : Tractors 101 |
I bought my John Deere LA105 in Sept 2010 at Lowes and have been mowing my 1/2 acre ever since with very few issues living in western Washington state, It's not possible to mow a dry lawn even in July Grass height is usually between 6 & 10 inches by the time the rain lets up enough to be able to mow I still haven't changed the oil and filter that was installed at the factory 10 years ago Gonna have to do that some day It still starts and runs like new I did have to replace the starter solenoid last year and the ignition switch this year I checked the spark plug and it still looks good I wouldn't own anything but a John Deere Comment from : David L |
Go John Deere with the Kawasaki engine Best lawn tractor on the market The S240 is an awesome tractor Comment from : Dave223 |

No Husqvarna?? Best riding mower I ever owned is the Husqvarna YTH1842 Bought new in 2006 and still in service today Never had one problem with it and has taken a beaten over the years in 15 yrs, only had to change belts once Proper maintenance and deck scraping is key Full synthetic oil and Fram/Purolator car filters get it done Comment from : Sally Boy |

I like 4 of rider lawnmowers not John der they brake down lot what happened to Toro rider lawnmowers? Comment from : John Mckenzie |
I’m sure any of these mowers are worthy when it comes to mowing I want to know what’s the most reliable, best built of the bunch Example in 1998 Consumer Reports Had Murray riding mowers ranked number one in build and reliability, while John Deere was Firth or sixth on that list So I bought the Murray 22 yrs later I’m still using that dang thing and it looks surprisingly good, no it don’t set forgotten somewhere out in the yard when not in use, it’s kept in a shed, and I have 5 acres to mow!!, I did add a snapper 46 inch cut, to help take some of the work load off the old 46 inch model But before you run out looking for a new Murray after reading this, plze know the real Murray company is long gone, The name has survived in a cheaper builder much like the name craftsman If I were to buy today, I’d get a Husqvarna garden tractor and make damn sure it had the Kawasaki engine 23-25 horse, those look to be well made, these here in this vlog are just pretenders Comment from : Dave Barnes Sr |
Don't like that quick change oil change on the John Deere That's laziness!! How do you get all of the oil out of the crank case!?!?brBad idea Comment from : PhillLsx Ga |
Toatal rubbish of course as the best ride on mower ever made is Westwood (Countax) made in England 🏴 due to its brush pick up Comment from : Chris H |

Should I go use or just finance a new 1 ? Comment from : Luis Alvarado |
LT, I agree, I have a JD E130 and it is a great lawn tractor, easy to service and extremely tough Thank for building the best! Comment from : Clayton Pulley |
I own the x350 Deere I will only buy a residential Deere because other brands are MTD and MTD isn’t a good brand Comment from : Diesel King |
It doesn't have an intake engine it has an intek Comment from : Micah Wagner |
I really need help deciding which mower to buy This will be my first riding mower and I have just under 1 acre of land to mow I have several trees on my land but they’re spaced out pretty good One small hill in the rear that isn’t really steep The JD E130 looks cool but I don’t know about that oil change they’re pushing I’m kinda stuck between Craftsman and Husqvarna Comment from : Rams_Lakers_4Life |
Craftsman the best to me and it makes a good race mower Comment from : saw man |
Sorry to say the best ride on mower is any mower with the Kavli blades full stop Comment from : Louis Garden |
How would the Husqvarna compare, it also has the Courage engine? Comment from : John G |
I am leaning towards a JD E120, but have to say that the Troy Built testing facility looked pretty sweet Comment from : Andy Stevens |
Troy Builts are trash It can't keep belts on the mower deck The pulleys are not aligned properly and when the belts get about 20 hrs it starts throwing them Comment from : Home Renovating Guy |
