You have some fantastic content on your channel At 53 years old, my wife and I achieved a net worth of $1 million back in 2017 Fast forward five years, and it has grown to $24 million Despite our combined annual salary of just over $100,000, we have adopted a frugal lifestyle We continue to drive older cars, prepare meals at home, and make use of leftovers Additionally, we have two children currently in college Fortunately, we had saved for their college expenses, and they are contributing by working part-time As a result, they will graduate without any student debt Comment from : bernado felix |

What nobody explains, how do you verify you are getting the credits! Comment from : Pura Vida |
Just a small correction to this If you served during the years you specified, $100 per month is added to what you earned that year So your annual income in those specified years will possibly increase up to a maximum of $1200 more a year SSA will recalculate with the updated annual income figures and it may bump your SS check up a little bit You WILL NOT get a $1200 increase on your monthly SS check but every little bit helps Comment from : Bruh Man |
What if I served from 2009-2015? Comment from : AaronsVids2 |

Does Social security not already know this? If not, how do you apply? Comment from : DNixon |
This program adds to your overall income factor It may have little effect on your actual monthly Social Security benefit because the increased earnings do not automatically mean an equal increase in monthly benefitsbrbrThe Social Security Administration will calculate how much you will get in benefits based on your highest 35 years of earnings Exceptionally few Military incomes will be in that 35 years Comment from : Bernard Chandler |
Hey Tony, I served in the USMC from 8/1980 to 12/1993 Honorably Discharged Am I qualified? Comment from : David Fox |

I got $5000 when I applied for my Social Security No I quit after 5-1/2 years Social Security did tell me I had to show my discharge Here is the Joke in 1962 I doubt I earned more that 80-100 dollars a month, big deal since an E4 probably makes over $30,000 a year when we served for almost nothing 1957- 1962??? Comment from : Ray Brown |

My husband got all excited, but alas, this information isn't correct, as others below have stated, the amount is added to your earnings and, since 1957-2001 it has already been automatically added, and in january 2002 it was stopped Comment from : Linda L |

Here is the straight talk right from the SSA blogssagov/military-service-and-increased-social-security-benefits/ Comment from : jstil44 |
This is a little misleading The SSA web site has a fact sheet about this subject at wwwssagov/pubs/EN-05-10017pdf The important take away is this statement on that fact sheet: NOTE: In all cases, the additional earnings are credited to the earnings that we average throughout your working lifetime, not directly to your monthly benefit amount Comment from : Davis Wallace |
Tony,brYour research is lousy From 1968 to 2001, the military credits were automatically applied to Social Security recipients Beginning in 2002, the program was cancelled Thumbs down 👎 on this video Comment from : SteveTheFazeman |

This is total BS! Not going to happen! Social Security is near broke with no solution in near plans You have to look at the stonewall in Congress! It isn't going to get solved anytime soon!!! We'll be lucky if we don't lose SS altogether by June! Comment from : Rick Lord |

I suggest taking down this video as the assumptions you are making (and hope you are giving people) is totally wrong The extra credit given while on active duty during the “covered” years means very little to the increase in your monthly social security check Even with 20 years active duty I am a retired Army Colonel Thanks Comment from : David Hill |

I recently started receiving my social security retirement I served 12 years on active duty during the years 1979 to 1992 How do I find out if they included this credit in my social security pay? They really don't provide much information about the calculations used to determine the benefits except your earnings charts Comment from : Barry Martin |
wwwssagov/benefits/retirement/planner/militaryhtmlbrbrIt does not increase your monthly benefit by $100 but it increases your earnings credited for that year up to $120000 per year Comment from : Jody Harris |
Your video is a little lacking I spent 6 years in the military in the early 70’s When I look at my SSA pay records, it shows that my military earnings were recorded However, nowhere does it show whether I have additional money added to my SSA pay rate How do I determine what comprises the monthly SSA pay rate? What do I look at to see whether an extra allocation was included in my monthly rate that is attributable to my military service? Comment from : Kenn Lee |
Dear Sir, I am a 73-year-old that could really use that extra money I served honorably in the Marine Corps from 1967 to 1963 Could you please send me the link or the information that I need to contact Social Security? This old veteran would be eternally grateful to you Thank you and God bless you sir Comment from : Reginald Carnes |

This entire video is completely FALSEbrTony has never drawn social securitybrI have been on social security disability since 1981brSocial security determined that my disability began on the same day that I walked off of a military base for the last timebrTony should say exactly where he got this frombrIt sounds like he just made it up, or imagined itbrSo, how do you apply for these benefits?brWhy would social security not be giving these benefits without applying seperately?brNone of this makes a bit of sense, because none of this is true Comment from : jim carrington |

$1200 per year of earnings x index, calculated to apply to your monthly average, this goes thu the bends points For me, 9 years active will add about $27 a month Not $1200 a month to my ssn check Comment from : Clutch Carson |

Can you please set me in the right direction to apply for these additional benefits? Comment from : Stephen Meacham |
Thank you, Tony, for your video Please consider fact-checking and doing research (due-diligence) first so your subscribers/readers have the correct information As I am sure others have or will comment, there are points to be corrected One is that veterans who started collecting social security on or before 1967 needed to record their service when applying for social security That was 57 years ago Tony; making this only applicable to someone who is 118 years old today if they applied at age 62 I don't think there are too many watching this who are that old Another error is that from 1968-2001, the credits are automatically added, and the veteran doesn't need to do anything The last point is that the veteran will NEVER see and ADDITIONAL $1200 per year or anything close to that in the SS checks The $1200 (max) is added to their SS contribution that will add a little bit to their output when they retire When it is all done, I think there will be very little difference in the monthly check increasing The benefit provided $100 for every $300 in base pay so the only ones who would obtain the maximum benefit when they stopped this program would be an E9 with over 20 years of service Again, very few truly benefit from this and as you know since base pay is most of our SS contributions, not much goes into it while we are in service The majority of what we contribute is done after we leave the military and SS is based on our highest 36 years so if we start collecting at age 62, anything before age 26 won't even be counted which is perhaps most of the people watching this brbrGod Bless and thank you for your video brbrPlease do a little research as this info was found in less than 3 minutes of searching google brSOURCES:br wwwssagov/pubs/EN-05-10017pdfbr wwwssagov/benefits/retirement/planner/militaryhtml Comment from : TJ TJ |
Wow did not know this, thanks Tony I'm still a little confused on how to figure this benefit I served 6yrs active and the remainder of my 24 yrs in the reserve components How do i figure the benefit? I'm getting ready to file for SS benefits at the end of the month and, retire at the end of July Comment from : Joey Carter |
You don't say what to do to get this And how about if I am already on SS Was it factored in How can I tell, explain it better Comment from : Patrick Foley |
Tony I watch a lot of vids and this is BY FAR the most helpful if it works out! Thank you! Comment from : Vincent Papa |
Thanks Tony for the info I did look it up and yes we military vets do get additional credit, but it is not paid directly on top of your monthly SS payment It states that up to $1200 per year will be added to your SSA contributions which may mean you will get a bit more monthly payout, but not $1200 more per month Comment from : Anthony Dunbar |
This is all wrong information You will not receive an extra $1200 on top of what you qualify for This is an extra $1200 a year that will be added to your military earnings For example, in 1982 I might have earned $10,000 while serving in the military The Social Security Administration gave me credit for earnings of $11,200 in 1982 That just gave one of my high 35 years of earnings a boost Remember, your earning in Social Security are always adjusted for inflation So, that1982 creadit of $11,200 in earnings will seem like a lot more 40 years later when you retire I earned a decent wage through my career as a letter carrier with the USPS (32 years) and I currently receive $2,12100 in Social Security benefits So, as you can see, although I almost had 6 years of military service, I did not receive an extra 1200/mo Also, the SSA knows what years you served in the military through your earning records You can show up at the SSA with your DD-214 until you're blue in the face but you will not gettin one penny more a month than you are already earning Comment from : JoJo White |
Thank you very much Tony, I had no idea I just learned it from you I will check into itThankS Comment from : Row Row |
How does one go about applying for this additional benefit? I spent three years in the Army between ‘70 and ‘73? Comment from : Radcdpiii |
Sorry man, you are wrong It adds up to $1,200 per year ($300 per quarter) of earnings while on active duty, not an extra up to $1,200 per month SS monthly benefit Comment from : U Socrazy |
How do you apply got this?brbrYou have the reference in the social Security documents for reference? Comment from : Gold Geologist |
