I have purged some of my writing of Latinate words and especially direct Latin phrases Germanic formality, old Norse roots, and Eastern Germanic words are far easier to understand and can be just as formal Bewildering, trek, enthrall, berserk, waver, kindred, toilsome, hinder, and heedlessly are some examples of the harder-to-understand English words of Germanic origin, but even still, if you presented the phrases in this video and these words side-by-side to someone who had never seen either, they’d be more likely to understand Germanic English is a Germanic language But I only like these more because they sound cooler to me Comment from : strxker224 |
