If you’re traveling with your spouse, or with someone that shares your accounts, take cards with different account numbers That way, if one of you gets robbed, the other person still has usable cards We found this out the hard way

Of course I wouldn't never will to go to risky (criminal) places with out a very good reason and preparation: 0) Self defense & fitness enough for that travel? 1) Safe Luggage (locks), 2) Anti-Theft behaviour (never alone), 3) Theft event: give quick back response Perhaps a theft is just the tip of a whole gang trying taking you to get money to free you
Comment from : Bernd Colve

Nite ize makes a locking s carabiner you can use on all your bag/clothing zippersbrIt’s simple to sew a pocket inside the waistband of your pants/shortsbrGet a passport card and carry that It’s a government issued ID and can act as a fill in ID until you can get your passport bookbrClothing Arts (and many other companies) make awesome pickpocket proof pants/shorts

Stash the vast majority of your cash and your card in your jeans/trackies/sports pants waist band (find ones with ample space) Only take out about eg $100 for the day You carry a second card containing about $100 to use during the day and load it as required brbrIf you get mugged you'll only lose that or possibly less

HI, thanks for this great video! I'm about to move to South America and I feel it's necessary to have a decoy phone, so that my Galaxy S21 doesn't get stolen! I'm thinking of having a flip phone as a decoy cause most people will silently laugh! So I'm a picture taker and want to do some vlogging, would anyone recommend me to get a gopro or just to carry my expensive phone concealed, and only take it out for pictures? Now with a flip phone or Blackberry, would I still be able to use Google maps for example, if I'm lost? I did grow up in flip phone era, haha, but I've forgotten about them I'd rather not take the expensive phone out, when trying to find a location-- Any help or advice would be amazing!!

I use a runners wrist wallet instead of a purse Nice story I kept my “stash” money (should use ATMs instead!) in a calcium chew box in my suitcase (who would look in a vitamin bin?) In a hotel in Venice I must have taken it out of my suitcase and didn’t see it when leaving the maid actually turned it in and I got it and all my money back! (I did give her a €50 tip for being honest!)

Good tips I have a fake wallet with only a couple of dollars I save all sorts of plastic cards that I get in the mail and put in there Also, old bank cards from institutions that don't do business with I iron the numbers flat and demagnetize the strip on the back (probably overkill) Since I'm not a woman I hide my money and passport in a leg pouch that my socks come up over To get money out, I just go to the bathroom and take out what I need Usually, I already have what I think I'll need for the day I don't use ATM's but that's up to you Also, I treat my fake wallet just like a real one I may put a few dollars (whatever, the local currency is) into it next to the few dollars I usually keep it in Travel Fashion Girl seems to keep more than I do but she is comfortable doing that Just always be aware of your surroundings in both big crowds and when there is either next to no one around or no one around And just because you might be a big individual and don't think you can't be a victim

Thank you very much for sharing your advisebrI traveled half of the world and never lost a penny until last year in Madrid inside of a four star hotel during the breakfast my shoulder bag containing some money, passport, check book, some credit car was stolen by a thief who acted having breakfast with another guest in the same salonbrWe were very furious and sad Could not even transfer to another hotel or buy a local sim card w/o a passportwe reported the theft to district police station , they were very polite and sorry about the incidentbrLuckily i had a copy of the credit cards, passport, driver license in a separate areabrinside United states embassy we noticed few people who lost their purse containing money , passport and other valuables the vice counsel issued a new passport within two hours, i spend all day to contact the banks to report the theft upon arrival in Madrid, T-Mobile sent me a message the every minute of phone call with cost 20 cents and Text are free but it ended to be over $350 per minutebrPolice found my shoulder bag next day, the thief only took the money equal to $200brluckily I had divided our cash money in couple of different areabrThe hotel manager was very nice and refused to charge us for three days fare since it happened at their propertybrI leaned a great deal about the gypsies in Europe thieving from the tourist The thieve was recognized by the police from the hotel camera and immediately apprehended as we left the hotelbrUpon arrival to us, I received a message from T-mobile that my phone bill exceeded $650 dollars due to the roaming charge brAfter explaining the situation, they were nice enough to give me a break and reduce it to $330brI hope you will never have to deal with that kind of situation as I did

One thing my friend does is have a second wallet with only $20 and a fake ID/passport in it (his "ID" says his name is Eye Gottch Ya and has a picture of Goku from dragon ball z) The wallet is a exact same as his real one with one minor difference that only he would knowthat is the real one is skinny and the fake is fat He puts the fake in front of the real one so they think that they got the real one Also if he is wearing boots or tennis shoes he duct tapes local currency of up to $200 inside the shoes in case he was robbed for real
Comment from : emily mees

FaerieDust
Re: passports: in a lot of countries you're legally required to carry your ID and visa Your passport is probably the most important item in your life when you're traveling - it's also the only valid form of identification in most countries (other than IDs issued in that country, ofc) The only time I might leave my passport out of my own reach would be if I'd be spending a day at the beach or something, though honestly I'd rather just carry a waterproof pouch for my passport, phone, and money

Carry a paper copy of your passport with you when you go out You may need it brIf it is safe to leave your passport in your suitcase, it is safe to leave cash and credit cards there too If you leave money under your pillow, you are asking for it to be taken! The housekeeper may even think you have left it as a tip!br Money withdrawn from ATMs costs the same wherever the ATM is located It isn't more expensive at the airport Some credit cards waive some fees overseas, check aroundbrCurrency exchanges are more expensive brI've traveled the world for more than 40 years without having my pocket picked or anything stolen from my hotel room, even in the poorest countries, without using a money belt, bra bag or traveling bag (those are heavy! ) Being so paranoid insults the people whose home you have gone to visit
Comment from : Peggy Cleary

Proper Gander
Keep your important things like cards in a card case in your money belt or a zipper pocket on the inside of your jacketbrKeep some coins in the tiny pocket watch pocket of your jeans so just in case you get into a sketchy situation, you can give or throw thosebrKeep a decoy wallet with an expired credit card and some (fake) bills you can hand over/throw to get out of a sketchy situationbrNever keep everything in one wallet! I once got robbed, trying to paythe lady gave me my coins back, saying it is too much and with some sleight of hand, slipped a 100 euro bill out of my walletbrLuckily, police were waiting for them to rob someone so they could arrest those street 'vendors' and I got my money back
