I don't know where you got this information but the economic truth of the matter is what you have studied is only worth what someone is will to pay you for it And the economy is so bad in this country that you are privileged to even have a job Corruption and nepotism has destroyed this country Our politicians have betrayed us and the only people making any real money are organised criminals For example Eskom has been an opportunity for criminals to steal from the people in this country And it will never stop because corruption is too lucrative

I know you guys are young and want to be rich straight out of university However, it is about building a career Do not base your future on the starting to early experience salaries of degrees Education is suppose to help succeed in your career in the long run , not the short run Look at the type of problems you would like to solve , how you would like add value to society , what would make a meaningful career for your life Money is not a good motivation Additionally, you will not be able to compete with people who actually care about what they study Life is a competition and people with a weak motivation do not make it far

One thing on the BCOM degree i want to add You dont just become a CA because you have a Bcom Its a grueling process You first need to make sure that the Bcom you are studying is SAICA accredited, not just any old BCOM from whatever college After your degree you must still do a post grad The fields you must be competent in for CAs are financial accounting, management accounting, auditing and taxation Its not easy guys think carefully and do your research!

(USA here btw, but did live in SA growing up) brMy sister went to med school, currently a residentbrShe has over $230k just off of med school loans thats without her cost of living and her under grad degree (which was $140k) brShe now works 80+ hours a week and get payed around $1130 a hour, which if u work it out is lower than minimal wage in the us She spent 8 years studying and now has to specialize for the following 4 years to become a peds (pediatrics) surgeon Thats 12 years making literally no money and it only increases your debt, medicine is not a smart way to become rich PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont become a doctor for the money
