My Dad told stories of Soldiers and Merchantmen returning from battle or a sinking being charged for tea by the Red CrossbrHe hated the Red Cross because the Salvation Army gave those things away to the men for free(1940s) A young woman working for the Red Cross quit, because she could no longer hand out Red Cross chits to disaster victims They were told to take the chit to the Salvation Army to receive food and shelter Her job was a lie to make the Red Cross look good, because the Salvation Army gave aid to all ,free of charge(late 1980s)

And that is why I did not donate to one of these so-called charities After the 2009 fires and 2011 Floods, people were left high and dry waiting for all that money they saw donated My brother lost everything in 2011 West End floods and he after 12 months only got about $20000 that didn't cover the building materials Only for my other brother who spent three months of his own time free of charge fixing up his unit did he get his place repaired A lot of that money will end up in people pockets in so called admin charges Your better off just walking up to a victim and handing them the money At least they will get it
