Because a lot of people are pointing it out This video was made before the insane increase of used car prices Some of these cars have creeped above the 15k mark Some of the GXs are going for over 20k These cars are still really good value for the money but just not that all cars have increased in price since I first uploaded this video

Great list, one thing I’d say is that the first gen Chevy Avalanche is a good choice instead of the suburban because of shorter wheelbase but it’s essentially just a suburban with a different body style They come with a 53 vortec and if you find a Z71 it already has skid plates and everything you need to get off road You can also fit 32inch tires with only mild trimming of the interior wheel well liner Avalanches are also rather common and 2002 model won motortrends truck of the year

In my opinion the Montero is a much better deal than the gx470 They are both going to outlive you and both are about as capable as each other The biggest difference is that the montero doesn’t make as much power but has an insanely good approach angle Oh yeah and they’re 10 grand cheaper

To be fair they are all bad im keeping my 1998 Lada Niva 17 2121 4x4 it only costed $200 to buy it , $480 to fix it all and another $209 for beginner offroad modifications and its only $889 in the end i love it and i would drive it until i die and im only 21 yo 🎉

Me who has 1994 Lada Niva 17 4x4 2121 who only costed to get for 600 euros , 100 euros for fixing it all of damage and 300 euro for only putting necessary off road modifications thats basically 1000 euro offroader perfectionest here not to mention it can be overlander easily sence its manual old school is better

Had a tough time finding anything within budget last year around this time, settled for an often overlooked 957 Cayenne GTS, thought about the Touareg as well but ultimately the V8 in the Cayenne sounded too good to pass up Still a good video with some surprises like the Xterra, a vehicle I overlooked in my search

You missed the biggest thing about the Nissan trims in my opinion The OR/pro4x have the same rear axle as the Titan! The normal axle is fine for light wheeling but blows gears relatively easily if you rock crawl or really stress them brbrAt the same time, PSA here, the front diff is weak regardless of trim: you can either wheel very hard or you can increase tire size beyond 32 and be very careful not to lift or bind up, you CANNOT do both Unless you add a locker or even better upgrade to a Titan front diff which is pretty cheap and has much better axlesbrbrThey're not time bombs though We have 2 in my house and we beat them pretty hard I mean I'v REALLY pushed mine and had no issues, I just have to stick to 32" tires and keep the bouldering to a minimum

the info on the 3rd gen 4runner is incorrect- production from 1996 (not 95) to 2002 (4th gens started in 03) Also- the E-locker was offered since 96 I have one for sale if anyone is interested

Calling the 46 in the f150/expedition reliable is a bit of a stretch in my book I wouldn’t say they’re junk but wouldn’t be my first choice to get me home from the mountains (I own a salvage yard that deals with mostly domestic vehicles so I have a fair amount of experience with them)

Nissan frontier nismo is the same as a pro 4x it's just a older one But watch out for the pink coolant issue thing they have I think that was like 06-07 had those issues

Interesting to listen to , I’m from the uk, most of 20 year old stuff here is rotten from our damp climate , rust is a killer here , stuff has gone crazy prices also over here sold a TJ in 2010 it’s twice the price now , Grand Cherokees WK can be found at reasonable prices , which I’m about to maybe purchase XJ are rare and rotten , pickups are wrecked generally from being used by un caring trades men , Toyotas are crazy money if you can find one It would be my choice if I could 1 find one 2 find one I could afford ( also mainly diesel here we have never really accepted stuff that does 10/15 mpg now gas at $13 dollars ish a gallon )

I paid 1k for my 2001 Nissan Xterra XE in 2020 I negotiated with the seller as he wanted $1,500 He thought because of the plandemic, everything was going to lose value It runs and drives fine with some minor issues, which some I've already taken care of like the sway bar end links, inner and outer tie rods and the upper and lower ball joints

This is a very good listing I like that you weren't biased to a particular manufacturer or Import vs domestic These are almost exactly what I would recommend Some might think i'm crazy, but I would honestly add in a Subaru Forester Early 2000's model that is They are so much more capable than people realize It will never compete with a built larger vehicle for large obstacles, but with basic mods it is easily a top contender and extremely reliable vehicle They are used in Australia very frequently, and I believe we can all agree that they have some intense terrain
