The big issue here is not just greenhouse gas emissions When you look at the entire system energy input and source to work produced An engineering stance The ev system is far more efficient If we reduce our reliance on digging up things to move us around that is good If you consider gas or diesel as if they magically appeared in the form of a fuel, and drill down on the smallest component of the battery you are going to have a skewed outlook Batteries in EV's (example Tesla) are made to function for 500,000 miles If you add up the cost of maintenance for the years of service you can easily pay for a new battery at 200 or 300K mi I had a E350 Mercedes before the Tesla and it cost me almost $3500 in maintenance the year before I bought the Tesla If you multiply that out over the life span of the car (20 years) that is $70,000 you could literally buy and replace 4 batteries with that same amount of maintenance money I own a Tesla with 115k miles on it Purely from a cost stand point the car saves me $600+/month in gas It basically pays for itself with gas savings alone When you add to that the fact that ev and all other Lithium based batteries are recyclable, soon we will not have to mine nearly as much of the materials We just need to develop those systems Pat, Love you man I just read your book again and it is great information Maybe it is time to not just read an investor leaflet about fossil fuel and get to the real facts on this subject The petroleum that goes into plastic is a much much bigger issue than the petroleum that goes into cars That is where the system really needs to change or that will really kill the planet I understand that it has been some time since you released this so it may be time to go back and add the rest of the information Thank you for all of your contributions
