Thumb's up for yet another splendid presentation You've watered that idea that's been growing in my head since your earlier presentation of one of finding a nice affordable "Alexander" bronze I already have a nicely detailed little late 2nd century Pontic "Amisos" brass piece with Ares and that sheathed sword motif, but it's nowhere near as thick and "ponderous" as your lovely earlier examples I believe I picked that one out of "Mixed Foreign Coins" tray at a coin shop when I was a kid basically looking for "the older the better" I've since tried a couple of "Uncleaned Ancients" lots: Mostly 3rd or 4th century Roman stuffthe odd earlier emperorsbut nothing as splendid as your lot shown here Comment from : BilgemasterBill |

Where do i start,my first roman was a Sestertius of Severus Alexander minted in Rome, found in a bag of world coins,i was hooked with this brass clad copper coin,it sits in my wallet,i collect bronze, recently found a Crispvs ae3 camp gate minted in Herculea, the common coins speak to me,their history and the fact i get to clean them and uncover something no one has seen for nearly 2000 years or more 😜 Comment from : Alien Woods |

Thanks for this informations I like your films very much! It's helpfull, because it is in English and, I am German and selling coins And, Greek coins are far away from my normal interests Could you make a film about this absolutely little Greek coins from the 4 Century BC? 8 to 10 millimeters and not one gramm weight Skepsis, etc I have a group of them and do Not know anything of them Comment from : Daniel Kahlhofer |
Love your channel, but it would be very interesting and informative if you told us how much you paid for some of these coins For instance this “cheap” lot How much was it? Please include values of future coins in your videos so we can know if they are ones that we could afford Comment from : Mike H |

I dare say the mint worker who struck the wrong image on the 20 gram weight coin was probably executed, and not reprimanded (!) Comment from : Keith Atkinson |

Another beautiful videobrYou have been a huge help to me getting started in this fascinating hobby Thank you!brI recently picked up a group lot of 10 Maximinus Thrax denarii, including his first liberalitas (his assession donative) which really tickled my fancy Comment from : Very_Reasonable |
Good job Leo! And a wonderful lot of Greek bronzes, the quality well above average! Is not the Ptolemy obol from the Alexandria mint? At least that was the traditional attribution by Svoronos Comment from : Numischannel |
This channel is a God send My late father loved ancient coins and I inherited that love It’s wonderful to see someone who shares it Comment from : Flavius Julius Constantius |
Excellent video!brbrA small comment: At 15:46, it actually translates "(coin) of the People of Antioch under Silanus" I think it's important, as it was to the Greeks, to distinguish between the place (the city of Antioch) and the people, ie the Antiochenes or the People of Antioch Comment from : Camerinus |
This was a good one, you should do a series of buying and identifying lots Its fun to see what you get on some cheap auction lots Comment from : Diogenes |
I've had a ton of fun sifting through bulk lots, and it really helped me hone my IDing skills Some notable finds are: An antoninianus of Volusian as Caesar, an Alexandrian dichalkon of Augustus with an Ibis on the rev, a bronze provincial of Caligula from Aezanis, and a Siscia minting of Gallienus' famous zoo series featuring a stag Comment from : CattManDan |
Can you do a video on Coin Shows? I live in Florida but all our Ancient Numismatics Coin Shows are just a bunch of cheap bronze coins Comment from : Burning Coal |
Thanks so much this video is exactly something I was hoping you would post! I have 25 Roman / Greek coins coming soon, it’s always so exciting! I was wondering if you could make a video explaining the selling process of coins you have better examples of Thanks! Comment from : Matthew Moore |
I purchased a group lot last year just for the educational exercise There are still a few I haven’t figured out I agree that it is a great way for beginners to start I do want to see a video on Mithradates VI coins Great job on the video! Comment from : Peter Romando |
Must admit I'm not one for cheaper lots like this, but I can the appeal Unless a base metal coin is REALLY nice, I usually just stick to precious metals Even in moderns, I only have a few base metal coins, and they both decently valuable So for me personally, I like to go after the better stuff Again, not knocking lots or more budget coins in general, but they're just not for me Comment from : NumismaticMaster |
Very informative video as usual! I have yet to collect any Greek coins, maybe I'll start doing that now Comment from : zach robberts |
