There will never be another film like this trilogy It needed just enough technological development after Star Wars, Jurassic park, and titanic, but within a decade of return of the king, avatar would establish a new process of just doing EVERYTHING virtually And bring the technology, the era of a film studio trusting a filmmaker so completely with this sort of massive endeavor is over If this were made today, it works be micromanaged to death by the studio (sort of like how the new Star Wars films and the rings of power or even the hobbit trilogy) It’s sad that nothing like this will probably ever happen within my lifetime, but at least we have it

For how unrepresented women relatively are in the films, it's so cool to see how many women were involved in the whole production Like a third or more of any group of warriors/fighters/riders are women in male costume Orcs and soldiers etc Just really nice to see

I thought the movies the trilogy and the hobbit series was just amazing and followed the books pretty closely and I just loved it because I read all the books in the early nineties and absolutely lost my mind when I saw the movies

What saddens me the most is how so many of the big films nowadays can have an uninteresting behind the scenes Now the film itself might be fine, but before VFX there was some story behind every effect and how some ingenious method was found to get around it Now there’s plenty cheap effects back in the day that ppl forget about cuz of nostalgia, but even the most normal movies had some cool stories about how they managed to do effects or how shooting went on-location Ofc LOTR was a lot of VFX too but increasingly now the only story that we never hear is how much overtime the VFX artist in a shitty company had to do

Im glad to see that the orc actors that had to actually carry Merry and Pippin while running got chroma key blue track pants instead of having to wear the armor leggings while running and carrying a full human in makeup and costume
