I guess if I look at previous videos you'll have answered questions for a new person Enjoy your videos Comment from : John Lovell |

I buy cheaper fractional gold bars because I’m fortunate enough to live close to a lcs that will trade them up for a 1oz gold coin Cheers! Great content! Comment from : Buddy |
Cheaper gold bars might be a good way for a poor man to buy some gold Comment from : Randy Simmons |
IMO, if you’re buying bullion, invest in a scanner 🤷🏻♂️ Comment from : WatchChat |
Lol “cheap” gold bars?…you mean the 5 gram bars 🤣 Comment from : WatchChat |
Bars are good for those that want to melt down- buy reputable- now days all buyers have way to verify that are scanners Comment from : Shaf Serious |
I'm stuck buying Gold Bars and generic rounds because its the only thing MN does not have sales tax on I really like the gold Buffalo's but not if you add 8 sales tax on top of the premium Comment from : Joe Poser |
Would this also apply to the one ounce gold bars from the Royal Canadian Mint? Since they're serialized, I was wondering your thoughts Comment from : labby2 |
Bars ftwwwwwww Comment from : jsjw |
Its crazy how 1 oz of gold equal the same for 72 oz of silver crazy Comment from : IM NUGGET |
Buy a bar, melt it and make jewelry out of it 😅 Comment from : S C |
I don’t see either option as a “wrong choice” My wife’s gold is 100 coins, while mine is 100 in 1-oz bars (exception is a 1/4 oz Singaporean coin) Bars were the best choice for me because they yielded the most gold at lowest premium and overall cost, and I’m holding them for the very long term Comment from : Slapdat HughJass |
In my state, we pay sales tax on coinage but not bullion So a 1 oz coin costs me (right now) about $150 more than a 1 oz bar I have not bought any bars for the reasons outlined here, but the extra 75 on coins is a painful pill to swallow Comment from : Charlie Pouliot |
I like bars and use some as a system of barter instead of getting separated from my coins Comment from : Silver Leaf |
Buy from a reputable dealer who has a xrf machine and u should be fine buying a gold bar Comment from : Engineer In Motion |
I buy and sell regularly and have customers that prefer bars , I only buy from reputable sources and stay with 1 oz and smaller so it can be sigma and or xrf verified without damage to bar or assay cards br💪😎👍🇺🇸💰🙏 Comment from : CRB |
I have a sigma scanner, seems very reliable for bars up to 1 ounce, the only good fakes are tungsten filled and not easily faked in smaller bars but larger bars are definitely harder to detect counterfeit products br💪😎👍🇺🇸💰🙏 Comment from : CRB |
i bought one bar i dont like it because i cant play with the damn thing 😒 i lke to hold my gold fan it out on the table and drop stack it you cant do any of that sht with bars in assays Comment from : Pickle rick!! |
I just prefer Coins 🪙 So do "coin" shops 😆 Comment from : Florida Stacker |
I fully agree with what you say I buy gold bars because I plan on melting them to make jewelry in example Cuban link chains and rings I'd cry to melt a beautiful coin Comment from : Bobbi Holliday |
Finally Been waiting for the 2is1 opinion on this one Comment from : Caleb Lummer |
I keep things simple, gold eagles, buffaloes, maples, and slabbed peace dollars Comment from : Art Boston |
I figure if JM or SD is selling the bars ,they have been verified I keep my receipts for re sale Comment from : JayMoney |
If they are real and the premiums weren't so bad, I'd buy them all day long Comment from : Robert Waterman |
Any buyer /dealer worth anything can tell you easily My local guy took scrap, coin, bars, jewelryetc You got to have a trustworthy, person, with skill and experience Comment from : Basic Beach Community |
Thanks for the advise and opinions I do have a bunch of smaller gold bars and 10 gram bars that got killer deals on basically at spot price and i know they are legit cause i bought them from legit dealers Im not a fan of gold bars as much as coins but i guess my plan was to later on trade them all in on larger 1 ounce coins or something as it is hard for me to come up with the cash for full 1 ounce coins all at once Comment from : y |
Yess Anything I buy it Dollars are trash Comment from : Brandon |
I think gold bars are much more difficult to verify I just watched a video where the Sigma (basic) read a gold bar as 100 dead center legit and the XRF machine showed NO gold content at all That's scary I've had a few 1 oz gold bars over the years but dumped them all when the price was right Probably still have a few 5g bars somewhere The pre-33 fakes are pretty good nowadays Even the doggone slab holders are fake like you say I'm with you though - not a fan of gold bars They are lower than last on my list Comment from : Vertical Stacker |
You can't beat the Lady Fortuna Comment from : Barbara Dimascio |
Hay u got that troll Mmm Comment from : Arnival |
In Minesota you pay sales tax of 75 on coins verses a bar Thanks Dork Gov Waltz! Comment from : paul lemmons |
I buy those gram bars as presents Other than that, I stack Gold coins Comment from : Unknown Person |
I took advantage of that spot deal Even though I have a Precious Metals verifier, I can provide some tips on how to tell if a bar is fake or not just by looking at it Comment from : SalivateMetal |
Really unless a bar has some historical value to it (like a bar from the gold rush) I will just stick to coins as well There is a whole sub-set of collecting vintage bars (especially silver) that is fun too, but I wouldn’t stake my savings on them Comment from : JDre2155 |
One nice bar is the Britannia with the Lady Britannia soldier on the front That is a very winning design whether in 5gram gold bar or 10oz silver bar (I bought the 5 gram gold for around $300) I have never tried to offer one to an LCD but I'd be surprised if they weren't very interested as those gold bars are stunning to look at not at all boring like say the Heraeus or Valcambi And the price is around the same Perhaps you've seen them already in the grey assay with 'The Royal Mint' at the top Comment from : Slow Ride |
Generally speaking I think coins are the better option I'd love a big cast bar but it doesn't make sense when you do the math and consider the pain at the other end (selling being more difficult and getting a worse price than equivalent coins) I did buy a bar recently though not something I'll make a habit of Comment from : Sovereign Saurus |
Congratulations on two and a half years! Your channel is my favorite on all of YouTube I learn, appreciate your perspective and I always enjoy looking at the fun coins! Happy Holiday wishes to you and your family! Comment from : Michael McCoy |
I have found most all dealers in America will much prefer buying gold coins from customers rather than bars I stick with Eagles, Buffaloes and Maple Leaf coins for the most part Comment from : Ryan Tinney |
Another good video, sir!brAll of my Au is in coins, with 90 of those being 1 ozbr90 of my Ag is in bars, and the only reason it's not closer to 99 is the 2 bags of "junk" for SHTF trading goods (you know, just in case - 'cause I like to cover all bases 🙂) Comment from : davidylyl01 |
I am looking at a gold piece (One that I don't normally buy, I buy 1/4oz coins -ASE/Maples/Brits/Phils) from a reputable on line dealer but I ran across this France Gold 20 Francs French Rooster Coin (1899-1914) AU for 354, I too live in the US, but I was wondering would you buy this coin at this price and is 'liquid-able' ,,,thanks! Comment from : Eli |
I'm just sticking to coins Comment from : B² |
how do you feel about the britannia bars, their detail make it less likely to be faked or no? Comment from : Marc McCreary |
Lol The Apmex app was so slow at 8 am Couldn't even load the Maple 🍁 leaf at spot After 15 minutes of trying to use their app I went to SD Bullion and bought the Sovereign at 1/2 off premium Do you think Cyber Monday at Apmex? I wish they would just run a special every hour so perhaps the traffic wouldn't crash the site if it staggers through the day on at spot items Comment from : UP dan |
Thanks for discussing interesting topic RCM 1 oz gold bars have security features similar to RCM coins Probably we can rely on that The main question is how easy you can sell them if you have to? May be someone can share his experience I always admire your video quality and presentation Comment from : AK |
Thanks for the great info Comment from : Alfred Miranda-Rodriguez |
I have some gold bars, I only buy my gold from reputable bullion dealers But bars actually are not that much cheaper than coins I have way more coins than bars because of this A generic 1 ounce gold maple is often at par with the bars I like the Perth mint 1 ounce bars they are $100 cheaper than coins They are short and kind of look like a gold nugget Thanks Comment from : 1000silver |
25 years already? How time flies, friend Thanks for all you do 👍🇺🇸👍 Comment from : Abraham S Lincoln |
I’m lucky 2 get 1/4 eagle 1 time a year brbrBut never bars Yuck Comment from : Arnival |

Government minted coins is my preference During covid era I was stuck in a middle East Country for 18 months could not get home or more truthfully could not get back in if I left This Country sells Pamp Suisse bars by a regulated government agency with the serial number registered to my ID Everything was closed nothing to spend my surplus tax free money on, so for 18 months I bought the bars I don't like them I will not buy anymore and hopefully in 20 years time I can sell them to fund part of my retirement and flip the middle finger to Covid I will never buy another bar and the money I spent on bars was what I would have spent socialising etc During the covid lock down Whatever I get in the future is unexpected savings from the past with these bars I would always buy coins over bars all things being equal Comment from : gerry2828 kelly |
If you're stacking, you need a verifyer! So what about the bars at my lcs that are in the assay? Are you saying the dealer cracks them out, acid test's them an re-seals the bar???🤔 Isn't the assay basically a COA? Comment from : Henry von Muegge |
Pamps veriscan has proved to be very reliable for me If you go bars go pamp usually thats my go to Comment from : Tyler Fortin |
Bars as in Kilos or 10oz Bars Remember how are you going to make change Comment from : Mac Clark |
Thanks for answering that question for me! You must be a mind reader Lol Comment from : Caleb D |
Keep the gold bar in its packaging and your paperwork and you can sell it back to the bullion dealer your bought it from Comment from : Tactical Truth |
My local coin store deals in silver, gold coins and bars He has an XRF, no problem analyzing bars He says the most fakes he sees coming in the store are fake American Silver Eagles People thought they got a great deal online and got burned, did not buy from the major well known dealers I have a mix of gold coins and bars, like them all Comment from : Mark D songs and stuff |
I’m a bars guy No coins Comment from : John Talbot |
I was about to get a postal money order tomorrow for the SD gold deal but now I think I'll just stick with quarter ouncers insteadbrbrEDIT: Just read about SD cancellation policy so now I'll just take this bar at some point with some other gold bars to a goldsmith and exchange towards the purchase of 24k gold chain Comment from : Julius Striker |
No bars for me! Happy Thanksgiving! Comment from : 72cmcinc |
Back in the day, my best girl was missing a leg, she was by far the best but at first glance you wouldn’t know it- Comment from : Zander Sohn |
I picked up my first bar A 20g Britannia No regrets 👍 Comment from : from Ontario |
I totally agree with everything you said and that’s basically my philosophy as well However I don’t think it’s bad to scoop some bars at spot right now given how crazy premiums are I like a little diversification Happy Thanksgiving I really appreciate all your videos Comment from : The Real Perth Mint Stacker |
I agree and only buy buffalo or Eagles for gold I will say i buy 100 oz silver bars from a reputable mint just because premium and storage of silver coins is bulky Comment from : Tyler LaBelle |
I buy my silver in bars and my gold in coins Comment from : sir stacks a lot |
I bought bars before and had them melted down to make a Cuban chain brbrNo regretsbrbrCoins are much harder to fake, are more pleasant to handle and don't get stuck in a piece of plastic for the rest of their lifebrbrCoins only, all the waybrbrIs that a 2 ounce lunar rabbit? Comment from : Vytautas Vaicys |
SD has buffalos for 55 over spot and kanga's $3999 over spot! Comment from : QuadTap |
Absolutely! I do buy 1oz gold bars specially the PAMP suisse lady fortunas and lately the British Britannia gold bars I do buy my gold from reputable online dealers and I'm not interested to sell my gold anytime soon However, I did invested in a sigma verifier machine for a peace of mind Yes, the machine was not cheap, but I have bought a great deal of PM in the last 6 months that I could not afford not getting a verifier machine Another great videothanks Comment from : Will Larrea |
Where is the cheap gold?brHow can I buy it? Comment from : MrPillow |
Thankful for all you do for our hobby and on-line community! Happy Thanksgiving Comment from : Jay Windley |
Nope Comment from : dustin hatch |
I guess I'm lucky that I have several options for selling gold bars They all have XRF machines So for me it's a no brainer to jump on the gold for spot deals when they pop up Comment from : Richard Contini Jr |
If your house caught on fire and you saved all your 100 dollar bills they would vanish If you have silver coins gold coins they would still be there burnt or melted and still have value to sell to coin shop or refinery Comment from : Robert M |
Silver bars Gold coins brBetter Living Walmart 😘 Comment from : Well Tender #1 |
Depending on where you live, the gold bars might be fine I have never even seen a gold bar except in pictures Maybe its because I have told the dealers right up front I wasn't interested? Comment from : Glen H |
But if you want to buy cheap coin sovereign coins, I say go with the Ducat or the 20 swiss helevita, francs or roosters I find that you still get the recognizability of a countries gold sovereign coin You know that it's most likely real because it's from a state mint other than a private mint Happy Thanksgiving Comment from : Jimmy Licari |
credit suisse and pamp are nice though! that lady fortuna gets mebrbrim also so tempted to get a 50g castbrbrim sticking with eagles, buffalos, and maples though when you rolled that tube out that became my new goal one day! Comment from : jacob manalang |
PAMP has an app for scanning the bar code on the gold bars packaging I have the Sigma Metalytics verifier too which cost me about 800 USD Comment from : josi bart |
I agree they done the stat's in Australia, gold coins 1oz and 1/4oz are the most popular to buy and sell and for silver it was 10oz silver bars and 1oz Silver coins are the most popular to buy and sell in silver Comment from : Frank |
I don't think that I'll have a problem moving my engelhard bars Comment from : Will Weed |
Great video Comment from : Nick N |
Since they have a history of your purchase, you can sell it back to the same dealer Comment from : Anthony Colangeli |
I own some bars( LCS purchases), for two simple reasons First, at the time I bought them they practically did not have a premium Second if I ever have to sell some gold, it will not be as painful to sell the barsbr I literally see myself crying if I ever have to get some Fiat currency for Buffalo Willeybr( my eyes are watering now just thinking about it )br🦃🥧☕brHappy Thanksgiving Comment from : AJ |
I've been eyeing the SD Bullion "at spot" deal for the 10 gram bar Just can't seem to leave my GAEs!! Comment from : Daniel Manly |

I prefer gold coins, but I did get a 10 gram gold bar at spot price cause dealers usually don't pay much over spot for coin anyway😀 Comment from : J |
