I know I'm a couple years late to this vid, but I've been going down the rabbit hole of margarita recipes recently and stumbled on what I think is a neat variation It is very similar to the last recipe in this vid, but I use a good repo instead of a blanco and an orange liqueur called Naranja instead of Curacao or the usual trinity (Triple Sec, Cointreau or Grand Marnier) The combination of the repo with the Naranja gives the drink this really neat "smokiness" (best way I can describe it) that you don't get with other recipes It's definitely a vibe that won't work for everyone but has become my favorite way to make a margarita Comment from : Rollo C |
Y u no use Da kuoper lol Comment from : Jonathan Arellano |
With your favorite margarita recipe can I use grand marnier or cointreau cannot find dry curacao only blue here in canada Comment from : Coach Garcia |
made your fav marg and must say it's my fav too now, not including the deviations where they use fruits, but the little hint of orange from the Cointreau makes it smoother and very dangerous during hot summer days Comment from : Orlando Holenweger |
Good afternoon My wife and I have adopted your Tommy’s Marg as our fav We tried all three and had fun doing so Anyway- can you translate that marg into a frozen recipe? I know you had said on one of your previous vids it doesn’t always translate by just adding ice and blending Thanks and great vids Comment from : pecoswild |
the best margarita I have ever had was at the bar in the Hotel California on the Baja Mexico don't know what or how he made it but it was great Comment from : Dixter |
I lean towards #2 :) Reposado, Gran Marnier, fresh lime, Agave syrup and a good sprinkle of quality salt Very nice balanced drink But I also like the shake and dump method ! :) :) Comment from : Rick Neighbors |
replace curaco with grand marnier on the 3rd marg and you got my recipe Comment from : alakazoom |
Great recipes but I would say that the original recipe of Tommy's Margarita calls for the use of tequila blanco, not reposado Of course, you can still use reposado, which simply gives you a different flavor profile But if you really wanna stick to the roots Comment from : Georgijs Nesterovs |
Fun fact: nobody in Mexico drinks margaritas, it's just for clueless tourists Regarding tequila Mexicans drink shots of it and also paloma, wich is a cocktail made out of artificial grapefruit pop soda with lime and salt Regarding cocktails, Mexicans prefer Micheladas made out of beer with a thousand spices, sauces and chile There are several regional variants of this such as Chelada, Michelada, Ojo Rojo and more Comment from : Chepepon Carlos |
Fantastic sir Comment from : Raminder Kapoor |
The way this dude was shaking that Margarita, I thought he was going to start dancing LOL Comment from : Lala Shelala |
I've made a lot of margs in my time behind the bar I feel like all of these would be great for different occasions! My preferred actually uses 2oz repo tequila, 1 oz lime, 075oz coin, 05 agave Repo and coin over rocks always tastes better to me, but of course it's personal preference Also fun to float blood orange cordial Comment from : Maria Regina |
Hey Leandro, just wanted your input I tried a margarita according to your spec and it came out to tart imo I liked sweet stuff My specs and ingredients were the same, I used exotico tequila blanco, tasted pretty good on its own to me, and I used agave in the raw Should I up the agave by a quarter, dial down the lime my a quarter, or both? Or should I just use cointreau instead? Comment from : Mark Bower II |
I always get a margarita at Andalusa's (sp?) and one at Hussong's when I'm in Ensenada Both claim to have invented the margarita The margaritas all over Baja are like your first except they use Controy orange liqueur Comment from : Tbob tbob |
finally someone using actually GOOD tequila! Comment from : Mike |
At 0:32, it should be liqueur, not liquer Thanks for these videos! Comment from : Natasha |

The Smile 😊… Killer 👌 Comment from : Peter Att |

I notice so many cocktails have lime juice in them, can you substitute with lemon juice instead? I know the taste will be different but i really don't like lime juice, I've tried it so many times but just not a fan of it! Comment from : michelle Hansen |
Love that juicer Brand? Comment from : Randall Payne |
My favorite is the Spicy Margarita with Jalapeño I have tried making it with a generic Tequila Blanco, but Reposado is simply better since it has more taste to it Comment from : Marina Sundström |
Where can I get that citrus press? Comment from : nothersheep |
No salt , you fail it’s tart because no salt Comment from : Greg Thompson |
❤️Superb! I want all 3 immediately! But can anyone explain the need to strain drinks which have nothing really to be caught by the strainer? I don’t bother but should I?🍸 Comment from : Mark Rensiew |
At Tommy's Mexican Restaurant the repo only wasn't even recommended Any good tequila was still a Tommy's I used Calle 23, Tapatio anejo, Fortaleza still strength etc Comment from : Ernesto Suarez |

Just stumbled onto this video and decided to go to the store and make the third version I'll never buy premade margarita mix again This is so good I did a small tweak, years ago we had margaritas made with a float of grand Marnier So I tried adding it and it gives it a little more citrus kick! Comment from : Juncti |
the end card on your preferred marg is missing the 5oz orange caracao ; ) Comment from : Sean Metcalf |
Your recipe for preferred is missing the curaçao Comment from : Zachary |
Agave, or any other syrupy sweet, absolutely ruins a tequila Sweetness needs to either only come from Cointreau, or maybe some sort of fruit puree that is there to make it a different flavor Comment from : Alireza Alivandivafa |
The classic Margarita is right on the back of the Cointreau label: 2 Blanco 1 Lime Juice 1 Cointreau Perfect I don't like spending a lot on tequila for mixed cocktails I'm not going to bury $50 Forteleza with flavorings I find Tres Agaves and Arette are very reasonably priced ($25-30) and make great mixers Comment from : LR Vogt |

I tried your preferred Margarita, and it's good, but I think the tequila gets a little bit lost in the mix I'll try it again, but this time with 3/4 oz lime, 1/2 oz curaçao and 1/4 oz agave Comment from : Admiral Stiffplank |
Great and enjoyable video! I always loved to do kind of a mixture between a Tommy's and a regular Margarita, so great to see that this ist not an absurd idea but your favorite, too 😃 Comment from : DerOrangUtanKlaus666 |

I love your videos so much because they have taught me a lot about making and perfecting drinks as I'm relatively new to this, but in all honesty my absolute favorite part is the cocktail shake The sound is just so satisfying to me for some reason 👌 Comment from : ψ hadestheinfernal ψ |

I’m not drinking a margarita unless it’s got a salted rim, idk what you’re on Comment from : Vai |
I was messing with margaritas and trying to perfect them I was messing with white/rested tequilas and grand marnier/Cointreau as well as light/dark agave syrup When I had two different ones poured out I tasted them together and it made a great drink so now I go the extra mile to make my version 1oz rested, 1oz white, 1/4oz Cointreau, 1/4oz grand, 1/2oz light agave syrup It turns out awesome ***don’t forget 1oz of lime :) Comment from : Brycekiller1 |

Just a note at the end on your preferred margarita, the recipe on screen doesn’t include the Curaçao Thanks for this Definitely gonna try the preferred👌🏼 Comment from : David Thomas |
I prefer the Traditional Margarita, but I tweaked it my way I ditched the orange liqueur a long time ago I take the money I save there and invest in a better tequila instead That way, the tequila remains the star of the drink I also like to add a TOUCH of mezcal for smokiness So all on all, 2oz of good 100 agave tequila (I prefer blanco), 3/4oz fresh lime juice, 3/4oz 1:1 simple syrup (or to taste), and 1/4oz mezcal :) Comment from : M B |
This is the first time I have seen agave syrup in a margarita for whatever reason In any case, your version looks delicious I mistrust any magarita recipe without curaçao or triplesec Comment from : Tim Seguine |
Can we get a frozen variation Comment from : Rohit Verma |
I think I'm gonna pass on the salted rim going forwardbrI like the idea of just a sprinkle of flaked salt on the surface far betterbrI'm gonna start using agave syrup with fresh lemon juice in place of a sweet/sour mix I makebrAt least for margaritas :)brMy fav margarita has been one where I finish with a float of Grand MarnierbrNeed to tweak it to your specs :) Comment from : Ian Slessor |
At 8:14, your recipe doesn't list the orange curacao as an ingredient Comment from : Loco Tx |
For the look, go for bblue/b margarita Comment from : Bill |
i'd also say be conscious of you lime juice 255075 change through out the day lime juice being one of the few citrus that flavor can change within a few hours of being pressed (why you see limes turn brown) they oxidize faster when cut and after id advise test tasting the lime juice for tartness before committing to that much Comment from : SAELIOS MUSIC |
can you make a "get comfortable with a shake video without making a weird face tutorial" for you not for me Comment from : SAELIOS MUSIC |
Damn I want a drink now ayyy why do I do this to myself Comment from : Thatonefoo760 Jimenez |
