I know I'm a couple years late to this vid, but I've been going down the rabbit hole of margarita recipes recently and stumbled on what I think is a neat variation It is very similar to the last recipe in this vid, but I use a good repo instead of a blanco and an orange liqueur called Naranja instead of Curacao or the usual trinity (Triple Sec, Cointreau or Grand Marnier) The combination of the repo with the Naranja gives the drink this really neat "smokiness" (best way I can describe it) that you don't get with other recipes It's definitely a vibe that won't work for everyone but has become my favorite way to make a margarita

made your fav marg and must say it's my fav too now, not including the deviations where they use fruits, but the little hint of orange from the Cointreau makes it smoother and very dangerous during hot summer days

I lean towards #2 :) Reposado, Gran Marnier, fresh lime, Agave syrup and a good sprinkle of quality salt Very nice balanced drink But I also like the shake and dump method ! :) :)

Great recipes but I would say that the original recipe of Tommy's Margarita calls for the use of tequila blanco, not reposado Of course, you can still use reposado, which simply gives you a different flavor profile But if you really wanna stick to the roots

Fun fact: nobody in Mexico drinks margaritas, it's just for clueless tourists Regarding tequila Mexicans drink shots of it and also paloma, wich is a cocktail made out of artificial grapefruit pop soda with lime and salt Regarding cocktails, Mexicans prefer Micheladas made out of beer with a thousand spices, sauces and chile There are several regional variants of this such as Chelada, Michelada, Ojo Rojo and more

I've made a lot of margs in my time behind the bar I feel like all of these would be great for different occasions! My preferred actually uses 2oz repo tequila, 1 oz lime, 075oz coin, 05 agave Repo and coin over rocks always tastes better to me, but of course it's personal preference Also fun to float blood orange cordial

Hey Leandro, just wanted your input I tried a margarita according to your spec and it came out to tart imo I liked sweet stuff My specs and ingredients were the same, I used exotico tequila blanco, tasted pretty good on its own to me, and I used agave in the raw Should I up the agave by a quarter, dial down the lime my a quarter, or both? Or should I just use cointreau instead?

I notice so many cocktails have lime juice in them, can you substitute with lemon juice instead? I know the taste will be different but i really don't like lime juice, I've tried it so many times but just not a fan of it!

At Tommy's Mexican Restaurant the repo only wasn't even recommended Any good tequila was still a Tommy's I used Calle 23, Tapatio anejo, Fortaleza still strength etc

Just stumbled onto this video and decided to go to the store and make the third version I'll never buy premade margarita mix again This is so good I did a small tweak, years ago we had margaritas made with a float of grand Marnier So I tried adding it and it gives it a little more citrus kick!

Agave, or any other syrupy sweet, absolutely ruins a tequila Sweetness needs to either only come from Cointreau, or maybe some sort of fruit puree that is there to make it a different flavor

The classic Margarita is right on the back of the Cointreau label: 2 Blanco 1 Lime Juice 1 Cointreau Perfect I don't like spending a lot on tequila for mixed cocktails I'm not going to bury $50 Forteleza with flavorings I find Tres Agaves and Arette are very reasonably priced ($25-30) and make great mixers

I was messing with margaritas and trying to perfect them I was messing with white/rested tequilas and grand marnier/Cointreau as well as light/dark agave syrup When I had two different ones poured out I tasted them together and it made a great drink so now I go the extra mile to make my version 1oz rested, 1oz white, 1/4oz Cointreau, 1/4oz grand, 1/2oz light agave syrup It turns out awesome ***don’t forget 1oz of lime :)

I prefer the Traditional Margarita, but I tweaked it my way I ditched the orange liqueur a long time ago I take the money I save there and invest in a better tequila instead That way, the tequila remains the star of the drink I also like to add a TOUCH of mezcal for smokiness So all on all, 2oz of good 100 agave tequila (I prefer blanco), 3/4oz fresh lime juice, 3/4oz 1:1 simple syrup (or to taste), and 1/4oz mezcal :)

i'd also say be conscious of you lime juice 255075 change through out the day lime juice being one of the few citrus that flavor can change within a few hours of being pressed (why you see limes turn brown) they oxidize faster when cut and after id advise test tasting the lime juice for tartness before committing to that much
