Hey MarketP, thanks for the video I've just finished my bachelors in economics and psychology and now don't know if I should continue with economics or pivot into development finance since that's what I eventually want to be doing but I feel like I have to do the economics honours year (equal to 4th yr bachelors in the US) then pivot when I'm doing my master's sorry to ask for your opinion but I'm really stressed about feeling like I've done enough economics to give me the necessary foundation for a career in development but I also feel I'd gain more technical skills if I do this extra year of economics

Doesn’t this assume stable relative marginal returns to education? Economics for example is far more rigorous in PHD vs undergrad, and this is a requirement for applying the theories in the real world In Math by contrast, an undergrad degree is already highly rigorous albeit without the research component of a math PHD However math undergrads are typically well positioned for many technical and competitive jobs in finance, consulting, programming etc because they have proven their chops in the major and built mathematical maturity On the other hand, a PHD in math typically moves one specialization away from real application, and I would think this could help explain the diminishing marginal utility of an education in pure math

Hey man, I’ve just found your channel and especially enjoyed your “6 lies about majoring in economics video” I’m in my last year of high school in Australia and am tempted to pursue a B Comm or B Econ, but I’m curious as to what the real differences are between the two I have a super general simplification of econ = public policy and comm = business, but I know that’s far from the actual truth If you could give me some insights into what a work day in this sort of industry looks like, that’d also be very much appreciated!brCheers mate
