The financial aid is a scam and is not instant as that commentor said It only offers "up to 75" off each individual course within a certificate, and each course is $49 if purchased individually So, even if you qualified for full financial aid, for an 8-course cert like IT Analyst, you'd end up paying the same price as 2 months of Coursera Plus At least with the Plus membership you can jump around to different certs if you want to

I've just watched this video First let me give you a little bit of a breakdown of my experience I just started my second year (completed about 13 months) of the Coursera Plus program I paid 41496 a year which comes out to 3458 a month I have completed about 16 courses including a very good Python course from the University of Michigan called Python for everyone I am currently in the middle of two Google certs: Google Data analytics Professional Certificate and Google IT Automations with Python Professional CertificatebrbrIs it worth it? For what you pay, I would say yes I do think this guy spreads it on a little thick with the jobs you might be able to get but still I just enjoy the classes If you do the Coursera Plus you have to go with the $41496 a year BTW if you run into problems with paymentsCoursera customer service is almost non-existent Be careful

As long as they keep the courses updated on Coursera, I could see them being beneficial, but I am highly skeptical about the Google IT cert Last time I checked, it didn’t have a date later than 2020 I’m sure the learning is amazing, but a lot of employers don’t even look at this cert unless they’re ones linked with coursera brI also laughed at the review that said they didn’t even care about the core2 A+ certification A lot of companies make their employees renew their most current certification, and if you don’t renew it you can technically be let go from your job At the same time, many employers, use job application filters If you don’t have a certain CompTIA certification, they won’t even look at your résumé I would recommend only take the information from this video as a grain of salt There are other YouTube videos, claiming their coursera certification alone was not the reason they got hired alone More like an add-on of another solid credentialbrNow I’m not commenting to discourage people, but there is no easy way of going about it br -Certs open the door br-Skills/Personality get you hired br-Performance of said skills will determine if you do or don’t get fired

The problem with Coursera is the courses have a time limit meaning you have to completebrthe course in a specified time frame which if you work full time, this will be difgicult for some people

just did their foundations of cybersecurity in 3 hours - been in the industry for about a year now so it was all a breeze Not super helfpful and very surface level however for someone looking to get started definitely an ok first step nice to get a little cert compared to the hours spent beating myself up over not figuring out a THM flag or something lol brbrI'd say it's worth the time and tiny cost but definitely too surface level for a serious technical role

I went to college to get an accounting degree I realized in intermediate acct 2 just how much I despised it Finished anyway just for the degree since I was mostly there Took 15 years to get my first entry lvl position (I live in a poor, backwoods state), for the huge sum of 950/hr in 2016 I don't know if I would prefer any of the certifications more, but the small time/cash investment is the most appealing thing about them If it ends up being a dead end, you haven't thrown away 4+ years of your life and 40ish thousand dollars
