single phase motors they need run caps to my understanding to create the break to creat a break in the line voltage going to the motor wen the run cap goes bad the motor will just sit there and start humming not moving if you see a fan motor that needs a run cap and the motor is humming not moving you can physically spin the motor with your hand and that will make the motor start working

Very nice explanation for general public but unfortunately it can set them to wrong path in long term Using analogies as water with electricity is detrimental in long term imho Get complex fundamentals right in the beginning and you have less issues in long run But this is me trying to be clever here 😂 The amount of complexity pure analog passive components will bring to the table is sometimes mind boggling
