Carter James
It's so impressive that they incorporated the train tunnel into being part of the race I guess it's because the 7 version wouldn't let you drive through the tunnel, so Nintendo is like, fine, you wanna drive thru the tunnel, you can, but now you must go against the train without getting run over by it

Rizal Jr Antonio
How many carriages on a train in N64 or Mario kart a Deluxe booster course?
Comment from : Rizal Jr Antonio

gregrocks66
They reversed the railroad crossing The old one has e bells on the crossings that is used in todays railroads crossing where as the new ones sound like mechanical bells which in todays railroad crossings are hard to find since electronic bells took over Should of put a GS type 2 or 3 e bell or a Safetran type 3 e bell or a NEG e bell Those seem to be the most common Especially the type 2 GS e bells

KrazyKaid
I love the remake, it’s just I like the original more… it wasn’t overdone and there was a lot of charm to it Also I prefer the mk64 music over the mk8 remake Glad to see Nintendo knows about this track and it’s fans :)

LilDemona
The train collision in the Nintendo 64 version is better in my opinion
Comment from : LilDemona

Sean Botti
I know this may sound dumb but, why does the train in 8 Deluxe have 3 coaches instead of 5?
Comment from : Sean Botti

ExoRosalina
4:04 why the Mario Kart 64 is not Lap 3? :(
Comment from : ExoRosalina

Jacob Ochoa

DotNet - Imagination Square
They really have to stop saying these maps are ugly because I think this map is so pretty! (I mean there are some exeptions like the entirety of Wave 1 and all city maps but they're improving if you ask me!)
Comment from : DotNet - Imagination Square

DotNet - Imagination Square
This map turned out really good on switch, but why did they not speed up the wheels on the train
Comment from : DotNet - Imagination Square

Valentin Knight
It would be nice if you faced other comparisons with other circuits

Alexandre DARPA
Hard to compare the pleasure of 2 different timesbrToday mk8 is just awesomebrIn 1997, mk64 was beyond every of our gamers dreams
Comment from : Alexandre DARPA

υмвяα ʝєαииє
Everything is perfect, the only thing that I didn’t liked is the reduced train size, literally the best part of this track is how everyone is waiting for the train to pass, it’s even funnier when you hit them lmao
Comment from : υмвяα ʝєαииє

Alvin TOS
In the Tour version, you trick off the the train when you touch it
Comment from : Alvin TOS

Prison Mike
This is the Mario kart 64 track I have the most fond memories of and I didn’t own it but I got to play it a few times
Comment from : Prison Mike

Vince Sergi
Not being able to chase the train is an instant 1/10 for me I loved chasing the train
Comment from : Vince Sergi

Chompy the Beast
Wow, they kinda made it a good deal worse Sure the visuals are different (not better, different), but not being able to go into the tunnel is just lame

Comment from : KamikazeDreamer

David Díaz
no me gusta que siga el mismo camino que el mario kart tour
Comment from : David Díaz

QuadrepedTrainerAnthony
The comparison of the on train collision is what slightly disappoints me with the new Mario Kart games The impacts are so nerfed that most items or obstacles just don't feel as intimidating as they used to be I miss when your kart would go flying high in the air from bombs and blue shells as it felt powerful and actually a decent item now they're just like a simple green or red shell
Comment from : QuadrepedTrainerAnthony

Sliman Al
Wish Diddy Kong Racing gets a remaster
Comment from : Sliman Al

i'd rather pick n64 than switch

Comment from : Linksoer

Alkaris
Crossing the tunnel in N64 doesn't show you as passing the goal posts, but this remake of it does
Comment from : Alkaris

Keaton Kitsune
So you can no longer drive through the tunnel? Automatically worst course ever
Comment from : Keaton Kitsune

FartDemon
I think the switch graphics might be better
Comment from : FartDemon

Comment from : Kingnewcomer

robinson32993
I wish they would remake Ocarina Of Time just like they just did with this Mario Kart 64 course
Comment from : robinson32993

Whit Siever
It funny because squid do not exist in a landlocked desert
Comment from : Whit Siever

Scott Varley
I don't know why they thought they could improve upon perfection
Comment from : Scott Varley

ThePurpleCheeseMan
I still love the 64 courses so much Kalimari Desert is one that I'd get really competitive against my siblings when playing the og back in the day I would love to see all of them back but if we can't get them all, I'd at least hope to see Bowser Castle N64
Comment from : ThePurpleCheeseMan

FitzSports
A couple of things to point out between the N64 and Deluxe version of Kalimari Desert is that the train in N64 has 5 carts behind the train and in Deluxe there are only 3 Another thing to point out is that the first set of railroad crossings are beside each other in N64 and in Deluxe they are across from each other and in Deluxe the other set of railroad crossings is missing which I don’t really understand why they took that one out, maybe because of that ramp that appears in the second lap or something
Comment from : FitzSports

Dwoprus
omg they both had trains
Comment from : Dwoprus

GameDjeenie
4:27 Wonder where this green pipe lead
Comment from : GameDjeenie

LordYggdrasill

Comment from : LordYggdrasill

Mack
I love the flow of this video Mario kart 64 was a big part of my childhood so it means a lot! Though if you wanted to be slightly more faithful you could have used the pipe frame kart which is based on the 64 design
Comment from : Mack

Merim Kastrat
2:02brbrLakitu: HEY! You are going in the wrong way! Turn back! I said turn back!brbr2:14brbrLakitu: Hell no I aint dealing with this shit, get your ass back on track

Comment from : CanadaBud23

Comment from : Totem_Luigi

FluffyDigby
I have to say this really makes me appreciate the track more, I may not be a 90s kid so I didn't grow up with Mario Kart 64 but I just love the atmosphere of the track, a orange desert mainly revolving around passing a train, it's calming and with the train tracks it becomes exciting to both watch and pass the train along with the western/country like music
Comment from : FluffyDigby

Ivan Franco
That's some quite changes🤔
Comment from : Ivan Franco

Windsc4r
Left out Japanese version n64
Comment from : Windsc4r

Jackson Waldrop
Hovering would’ve ruined this and other tracks I’m glad they didn’t do that (Waluigi Pinball would’ve worked because you wouldn’t have changed the whole track) I’m not apposed to hovering I just want it where it wouldn’t ruin the essence of (like Wario Stadium) Toads Turnpike, Piranha Plant Slide, Neo Bowser City, and Dk Jungle worked because it worked it in without ruining the essence of the track Wario Stadium just said throw it in and cover what used to be there with mud (What I’m trying to say is I see Wario Stadium but I don’t feel Wario Stadium)
Comment from : Jackson Waldrop

74SonicMario
It's really crazy how lonely the original track feels That applies to a lot of games on the N64, but this one especially How you can just stare off into the distance and there's nothing but flat ground for miles, how the music only has 2 or 3 instruments, it's really got a vibe only the N64 can pull off It's cool to see how far Nintendo has come in terms of design and liveliness, too
Comment from : 74SonicMario

Cliffordlonghead
Ok
Comment from : Cliffordlonghead

Marionaise
In order for the lap to be counted in the old Super Mario Kart, you have to drive through the tunnel with an active star But that only works in rounds 1 and 2
Comment from : Marionaise

fireaza
Ha ha, they replaced the VERY Japanese rail crossing alarm with one that actually sounds correct for one with an American setting!
Comment from : fireaza

ALDO Nueve
The 8 DX version is a fusion between the original and "Kalimari Desert 2" from Tour, also retaining a ramp from the T version of the track
Comment from : ALDO Nueve

Kaori Ch [すこん部][星詠み][Secret Unit]
While I like the looks of the new train it's sad that it's still shorter than the original, meaning it's blocking the crossing not as longbrbrAnd as almost always I'm not a big fan of the remixed music
Comment from : Kaori Ch [すこん部][星詠み][Secret Unit]

LeetHaxington
Less is more The new version has a couple of nice things In particular, the billboards, mesas, and sun are cool Some of the ramps and things look fun Here's my rant on all the newer games in the series:brbrI dislike all the force guiding and babying in modern mario kart though You can't drive off and explore a little because there's magic walls for no real reason If you screw up and hit the train, you get bumped to the side once You used to have a humiliating multi-hit penalty with a long acceleration ramp up time The train is even shorter in addition to you basically going instantly into max speed now brbrHonestly, I'm surprised they didn't put a fence around the entire track to make SURE players don't even attempt exploringbrbrJust all the magic glowing guiding arrows are distracting and take away from the scenery It just makes the vibes feel like a sweaty try hard race sponsored by mountain dew brbrThe new go karts look like when your casual friends group invites you to go on a bike ride in the park, and that one guy shows up in tour de france outfit with tinted glasses and fingerless gloves and a $10,000 professional bike The original game gives off the vibes of friends goofing around and somehow go karting was suggested as an idea so everyone branched out and went along with it for a change of pace It's like they had to frantically convert places into tracks because God King Mario demanded on a whim that all his friends attend an impromptu gokart tournamentbrbr(I also dislike the parachute animation I'm open to the idea of gliding, but this doesn't make sense and it lasts too long It seems like it takes away from part of the game in some ways On this note, I also dislike the extremely over the top constant animations for everything Like 360s for getting an item It doesn't make sense and it's too distracting It feels like it's mocking the game)brbrGo off the map? The rescue guy is instantly there and he moves like 10x faster to get you on track There's barely a second to process what you screwed up, let alone face any sort of penalty brbrThe graphics are technically better, yes, but it looks like they took the original material as literal law and just upscaled it The result looks like cartoony clay Which would be fine if everything looked like that Things just feel off though If you don't understand this point, it's like if someone upscaled a pixel art pikachu for pokemon and the modern games are these 8k retro-digital greyscale pixel black squares in the shape of a 3d pikachu, rather than pikachu being like a recognizably yellow fur-covered animal creature brbrbrbrbrThe worst part about the new game is whatever the autopilot mechanic is that's on by default It turns for you, but perhaps worse, the courses just feel like they're built with that in mind You're not even really racing anymore It feels like you're coasting down a casual highway
Comment from : LeetHaxington

HappyScary Moxley
4:29 I hadn't notice the warp pipe above before

Nintendo Born
I like that the train still says 64
Comment from : Nintendo Born

Lord Spyro598
In this scenario I prefer the original over the remake
Comment from : Lord Spyro598

FreakishTech23
One thing to note the cpu players in Mario kart 64 would actually stop for the train when it's in the way They don't always come to a full stop right away and may hit the train anyway but they'll still attempt to stopbrbrBut I noticed in Mario kart 8 deluxe they'll keep driving forward regardless if the train is passing or not Mario kart 8 deluxe Cpu players will not stop for the train
Comment from : FreakishTech23

1colonelsanders
The new train hit is so boring and useless And the fact that you can't go in the tunnel is stupid
