Not only doing community college for two years to get a transfer degree but also take any required classes for your degree that are able to transfer to other universities in your state Currently I’m taking all my chemistry and biology classes at my community college because the curriculum transfers the same as taking it at a university brbrAnother thing If your state over running start (taking classes at the college as a junior and senior in high school ) TAKE IT it is basically free college you only pay fees and book costs Comment from : @darienhatton3816 |

When boomers act like college now is in any way comparable to back in their day, I cringe a little bit Comment from : @EllieofAzeroth |

Some other things to research about your chosen college and degree field: brWhat is the graduation rate? brWhat is the employment rate among recent graduates? brIs there a similar degree that is cheaper and/or quicker to finish?brWhere do I want to work later, and what are those employers looking for in a prospective employee?brDoes this college have a career services department that assists students in finding future employment? What service do they provide?brbrCollege is a MAJOR purchase, almost equivalent to buying a house You would never buy a house without inspections, research on the neighborhood, etc, etc Why would you go to college without researching it or your field of interest? Any major purchase should be done carefully! Comment from : @michellem9444 |

1) Go to an in state schoolbr2) Get your kid to do sports and get great grades for scholarshipsbr3) Take advantage of financial aid, and file FAFSA as early as possiblebr4) Appeal Financial Aid award to get as much money as possiblebr5) Have kid work and save in the summers Comment from : @puro9831 |

I just wanted to reply to Dave's comment "you just can't afford a Christian school" This is true for a lot of private Christian schools, but the school I am enrolled at is one of the most affordable schools there is to go to At Pensacola Christian College, it's $10,000 a year which includes room and board This includes 3 good meals each and every day! Also, most students are eligible for their 4th year free program Your entire senior year won't cost you a dime, giving you a chance to build up your finances before graduation day I felt the Lord's call to PCC both because of affordability and to have a closer walk with God For certain no one is condemned for attending a secular school and God can definitely use you as a light there But we should think about the influence that a secular school could have on a Christian We are fallible humans after all, even though we're believers in Christ With the busyness of college, its easy to let your relationship with God slide (even in a Christian school) In conclusion, be a good steward with God's money, but also guard your heart with all diligence Ultimately, do God's will for your life and He will never fail you Comment from : @anthonywalker4953 |

Study from old books and take the CLEP and get the college credits only cost like 79 per test Also modern states have courses to prep you for CLEP test Every college in the nation accept CLEP Comment from : @luisangelcastaneda1147 |

Depending on what you are trying to do, where you go to matters Not the School itself but how strong the department it is brBut going to a community college for the first year or 2 to get the UCCs out of the way is a great first stepbrThe college/uni you get your 4 year degree from can matter if you are going to gradschool brOnce you get to grad school welp good luck, I'm figuring that out now for history Comment from : @tonyshoeball7759 |

Was a little upset when he said the kids have no choice in their college 😐 Comment from : @lizziea5480 |

It was MY dream for my daughter to go to the Christian college where I had my first real job As my dad did to me, we told her we wanted her to go there and we'd pay for her to go her first year $32,000 and 10 years of pain later for the parent loan, it turned out to be a very expensive 1 week trip to Hawaii for her, the most memorable part of that year She got into the upper level choir as a freshman and HI was their spring trip that year But she certainly had an eye opening experience at how sadly hypocritical children of Christian parents with great hopes are For sure we will be using this hard learned lesson to guide daughter/soninlaw/grandsons as they prepare for that stage of life Comment from : @sigalsmadar4547 |

I have to disagree, there are different levels of quality and opportunities to big name schools UF has the best medical program in Florida Although your employer won’t ask where you got your degree, however having a degree from UF in their medical program will result in a much better education which can seriously further your opportunities within a company Another thing some companies actually do care about where you got your degree For example my fiancés mother runs the residential program at Creek hill hospital and she immediately filters out certain schools because their known to produce a less than desirable result of students Comment from : @donovangiles3977 |

This is the most ridiculous advice I have ever heard So his advice for college savings is try to get scholarships and pick a cheaper college I guess his plan for retirement planning might be to not want anything that may cost money in retirement and start playing the lotto Comment from : @bradstorch5584 |

Community college gets a bad wrapits sad that kids going to big colleges seem to look down on the kid saving money staying home and doing cc the firstv2 years In reality those kids are making a good financial decision Comment from : @Barkeroni |
|
I personally found his statement on kids having no say in what college they attend to be absurd Yes of course parent involvement is key and should be constant, but the student should have a say in their future Currently one of the leading causes of college debt is career unhappiness Grads are unhappy with the career they chose and don't actually use the degree that payed thousands for, hence they don't use it and are unable to pay off their debts It is actually VERY IMPORTANT that teens have a say in the college they are going to attend to ensure that they are happy and with their studies This could help ensure they keep their career and their degree is not useless If a teen wishes to attend a college that seems impossible to pay for, scholarships are an option And something many people don't know, letters can be written to the colleges in which you can request they offer more scholarship money for the student or ask them to lower tuition All you have to do is work and research Teens should have a say in their schooling Forget what this guy says about that (Note that's really my only complaint on this video) Comment from : @arianediamondrivera2668 |

Thankyou Dave! Comment from : @taylor_____7511 |

Dave just roasted this lady Comment from : @Skankhunt-tf1tt |
|
mmmmmm dave you are missing some important things here i agree with most of the things you are saying reputation does matter not always, but some times they do they depend on majors also, it's better to look at all the scholarship and grant options rather than flat out reject all private schools most private schools have better financial packages than public schools not all community colleges are a sure thing for transferring either i wanted to hear you more on 529 plans versus other options in other words, money stuff Comment from : @shiwalogo2 |

Can go to a CC to save tons of money Comment from : @aerohk |

instead of saving for your kids college, which they may use it, why not save for your kids retirement instead? $5,000 invested for 67 years at 10 would be close to $3mil Comment from : @dluff |

Community College is not always a viable option Some degrees require attendance to a state college or university for a full four years in order to complete the required courses In some cases, 2 years spent at community college will prevent you from getting certain tech degrees in 4 years Comment from : @scottyb1300 |
|
I finished a video about college on my channel check it out! Comment from : @isaacestates637 |

Make you kid work I saved about 1500 dollars with a minimum wage job over the summer (not great, but still something) GO TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE!! I get tuition refunds , so i get about 2000 back into my bank account Comment from : @harryskittyz |

Better have a “We can not afford to help you with college!” chat with the kids right now! Give them the real picture now because the fantasy is not affordable! They need great grades, a resume that has some cred, and a job, especially a job that helps pay for it! Comment from : @beachygurls6 |
|
He talked about going to a community college and State College cheap college cuz it don't want him no one really cares about what college you go to as long as you went to a college I mean for bragging rights I guess but realistically you going to brag that you spent more money to go to this one place now okay I'm he also talked aboutbrbrWhich is what I was going to take from me cuz I was already in college a very good not that expensive very good very very good college for where I'm at very active but thank you Jesus it's so good use the my scholly app to you, shows that apply to he said he recommended a thousand but I know that just means just keep applying to keep applying don't stop when you feel like you applied to another just keep it on this keep going just keep going he's basically said if you apply to a hundred you may not get 99 of them so keep just keep applying and if he talk about if you just keep applying eventually you will get enough money to just pay for your entire tuition he also talked about the act and make it a very high score on that which God already told me I should do Comment from : @antank5703 |
|
This is so true Comment from : @lockdown1312 |

Debt-Free College, from someone who in 2 months will graduate debt-free, largely because she had smart parents when she was 18 :) br1) bWork/b And save a fixed percentage of your earnings into a seperate savings account Especially while living at home with no real expenses, you need to be socking away the majority of what you make (I had to learn this the hard way) Keep a certain amount for yourself to spend and enjoy, but be diligent with your saving br2) bScholarships/b I had scholarships covering the majority of my tuition all 4 years, and only paid about $1200-$1400 every semester Very doablebr3) bTake college credit courses while in high school/b AP courses are ok, but taking the actual college-level course is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better (wondering why? I can elaborate) Many places have programs that allow high school students to take their courses and get a head start, so look into what nearby colleges/ universities offer The more credits you get out of the way, the fewer you'll have to pay the big bucks for later br4) bLive at home,/b if you can and for as long as you can Living expenses, especially in dorms, will usually be as much as or more than your tuition I was fortunate enough to live only 20 minutes away from my university, but that obviously isn't the case for everyone However, most everybody has a community/small college nearby Taking your core classes there and going to university later will save a ton br5) bPrice shop your school/b It really, REALLY doesn't matter where you get a bachelor's degree from, what DOES matter is that you got one and made good grades If a big "prestigious" school will cost you 10,000 more a year in loans for the same program than another school, don't do it br6) bKeep your major in mind while price shopping,/b as monetarily they're not all created equal It's okay to spend a lot if you're on track you become a neurosurgeon, it's not okay to spend a lot for a BA in film studies Comment from : @AlyssaTaylor9 |
|
Where do i go for scholarships ? Are those websites like prepscholar and all those legit? Or just a waist of time Comment from : @Mackofalltrades |

As long as these kids go to a community college with some grants and cash from the parents/part time work, they should be able to get a degree without taking out a loan And they should definitely write in for scholarships I wish I had known this when I was young Comment from : @scoobydoo7346 |
|
Air National Guard gives you money for schools from federal & state level That’s just being in military part-time one weekend per month Comment from : @RJ-ok5hf |
|
Encourage your kids to take dual enrollment if it is offered, encourage A’s, and know that most colleges only make you stay on campus the first year, after that you can stay off campus and make your own foods Many books can be found online for reduced rates Go to community college first if you have to or a trade school Comment from : @Stephanie-ku8wl |
|
If you plan to go to law school, school matters to employers Other fields not so much Comment from : @Mitzi73 |

|
Dave must be a pastor because hes always preaching!!! Comment from : @mannyjeanpierre4062 |
|
This is very interesting though he did not mention trade school or Vocational School because you want to know why you would talk to go to college at a very earlier time call the 1970s everybody was told to go to college and work hard nowadays people are just going to trade school or vacation of school considering the last month they added 300,000 plus new jobs Colin seem to be the backbone in some people's mind but not trade school that's why the degree from college doesn't get you a job anymore it's all about the experience and skill not the degree so much and why you think college are in the business of just making more money to get more students to pay higher tuition if anybody remember couple years back New Jersey college I forgot the name of the college $30,000 on a new conference table instead of improving the college itself and another one built a statue for God knows how much money that worth again that does nothing even involve College so in conclusion college is a hit-or-miss thing if you're lucky or not lucky that's the best premise for college Comment from : @bradhaughton6698 |
|
Kids need DADS Comment from : @ccpanel |

They should just go to commity college instead It cheaper but your still gonna get a good career path Just because you didn't go to a 45k a year college doesn't matter Like Dave said Parents should never pay for there kids school Comment from : @madbear3512 |
|
A bit off topic: i still have a credit card debt of about 1500 I saw online someone saying 'any idiot can sell books online' So I started 2 weeks ago Money is comming in faster than I though Really good cheap and easy way to get rid of a debt I get books at $1 at piece from a thriftstore and sell them for like 5-7 bucks Extremely effective Comment from : @dzandbergen2 |

My husband works at a medium-sized private college, and a local community college Same instructor Same textbook Almost the same syllabus, excepting items pertinent to each college Private college tuition per semester hour: $948, more if the student utilizes the school's "block tuition plan" but only takes 12 semester hours Community college tuition per semester hour: $119 per semester hour Comment from : @loriloristuff |
