What's its use considering the fact that the earnings are reinvested into the business anyways? Shouldn't we care more about the volatility of the stock/dividends?

Yeah it's good info but it's not enough I still can't understand from this how to calculate the EPS of a firm, or when calculating PE ratio, how do I find out what the EPS is? Is it the yearly EPS ?
