You definitely know if they are using you Mine has NEVER “asked” me for money! I am the one who asks him what he needs, and he always says “nothing, just take care of our family” But, I would try to pick up little things he would say, and make sure he has everything I put money on my phone number and email, so he IS able to call multiple times a day, with no minute limit He would NEVER ask me to add to it I’m fact, he tells me we could limit it more to save money, and I’m lucky enough to not have to do that, which I reassure him of Same with me driving to visit every week…he says I don’t need to spend money on it so often If he started really asking me for money, I would get super suspicious! I feel like asking “hey, I ran out of *whatever*, can we budget for me to get more this month” is way different than asking for crazy money Idk That’s just my experience Comment from : Ashley Harris

My husband is in a state prison “camp,” and they do their own laundry It’s interesting to hear him talk about some of the things he does He isn’t in a “cell,” though, so they roam around other than their “lock down,” which means no showers, yard, etc He describes his as a really big bunker with bunks He hasn’t been in the camp the whole time, but now they do most things themselves It’s crazy Comment from : Ashley Harris

I would like to ask a question about finances I’m married to a man in prison Actually this is his 2nd sentence, I met and married him while he was in prison When he got out he went back to his drugs and I left Didn’t talk to him for years he had people searching for me and recently he found me His 2nd arrest was financial crimes and someone in his past life sent him the maximum amount they can receive as an inmate I’m still his legal wife, he was searching for me because the prison put a hold on the money because of his crimes that are now time served The prison has released the money but he should never have that much money in prison Has over $1800 on his books besides the large chunk the prison was investigating The only person that could get this money is me his legal wife, do you know anyone that would know what I need to do to get this money out of the State prison He wants me to have it Had many searching for me Do I need a lawyer or is there steps I could research?? Hi ladies I could use a little advice, if you have a moment? I have a pen pal in prison in Texas I care about him a lot, but I haven't heard from him in awhile I feel hurt because I never even got a Christmas card from him, and nothing for Valentine's Day or my birthday either ☹ However, he told me that he is not well so I am trying really hard to be understanding and not to take it personally I have a chronic, debilitating illness, so unfortunately I am unable to write as often as I know he would like And I feel very guilty for that I would like to be able to do more for him, but I am on a disability pension and I can't afford to send him money on a regular basis But I always send him a little something on Christmas and on his birthday And I have sent him books on a few occasions too His birthday is coming up at the end of the month, and I would like to send him a little something (just so he knows that I haven't forgotten him) Things are a bit tight for me right now, and like I said I have not heard from him in months I was going to send him $15-20, but I don't want him to think that I am being cheap or that it is a reflection of how much (or how little) I care about him My situation is different from a lot of you ladies He is not my spouse and we are not related I met him through a pen pal ad, and our relationship is strictly platonic Is $15-20 a reasonable amount to send him? I figure he can use it to purchase a few of his favorite snacks from the commissary or something like that I really wish I could do better, but I also have to factor in the exchange rate (I am in Canada) plus the fee that Jpay charges to transfer the funds into his account (their fees are outrageous in my opinion!) and a cash advance fee I would really appreciate input from you ladies If you don't think it is enough could you please advise me as to how much you think would be appropriate/reasonable? And I know this from experience, unfortunatly from both sides (mostly the inside) It is as important if not more, at least for me to recieve a letter from your loved one and/or have money on that phone to talk to them I'd take that over commissary anyday!
