Looks like some chemical has leached the nickel right out of that coin but left the copper content untouched - interesting question for a chemist as to what chemical can do that Autosol is abrasive, so every time you rub it in, you remove a small surface layer of metal All that muck you see isn't muck at all, it's the metal chemically dissolved into the polish I'm now wondering if sodium chloride (sea water) will leach nickle from the metal and leave the copper behind, I'm convinced that red stain is metallic copper Funny, because I thought they used cupronickel for underwater pipes etc Great video Mr B!
