I have dyslexia and I can tell you This method will NOT work for a child with dyslexia This is teaching a child memorize sight words, rather than phonemic awareness I struggled so hard to learn how to read as a child because it was all about memorizing words, rather than learning to sound out the words brNow I'm teaching my son who I suspect has dyslexia to read I searched high and low for an approach that would work for someone with dyslexia It is called the Orton Gillingham method And I found an amazing homeschool curriculum that uses this approach It is called the Logic of EnglishbrNow I'm helping my son build a solid foundation of phonemic awareness and learning the phonograms (instead of letter names) I'm more hopeful that he will learn to read with less frustration than I experienced as a child
