A number of years ago I saw the Sunfire MKIV sub {10" drivers} and I fell in love with them I run them in pairs in my two theater rooms I picked up one of the Sunfire Signatures {12" drivers} and it does pump out more oomph, but it just didn't seem quite as clean as the combination of two of its smaller brethren Comment from : Mark Janis |
Ive had different powered subs over tye years and they always have problems Ive had 2 or 3 amps go bad and seems like you have to spend a lot to get good sound So I found a pair of infinity kappa 12” woofers and paired it with a class D crown amp bridged to 1550 watts Sounds awesome, no more amp problems, and it wasn’t much to buy it One day Ill build 2 separate really solid cabinets and spread them out in the room Comment from : slipagent6 |

Can you please tell me in your opinion what is the best "most accurate" high fidelity subwoofer under $1500 for playing primarily "MUSIC"?!brbrTHANKS 😊 🙏 Comment from : Liam |
Tbh, subwoofers is probably one of the most important part of a ht or stereo setup, it's easy to find good speakers voor 500 usd but the good sbs start at that priceand 2 or 4 are better! Even a diy solution including the amp and dsp goes easily above 500 Comment from : Stanislas De Nijs |
Excellent & informative content as always, Gene! brbrUpgrade bug is here I currently have dual SVS PB1000 pros I want superb high output, but want to keep the tight bass aspect of the subs I have right now, plus super low distortion (at low frequencies/high output) brbrI’m either going to go with dual Monoprice Monolith 15in THX Ultras or SVS PB3000s Which one do you recommend? Comment from : THAT A/V DUDE |
No REL ? Comment from : Marcus Aurelius |

If I run two X15s up front and two X12s in the rear, will that really mess things up with the different sizes? Or should I do my best to stick with four X15s? Comment from : Brian Smith |
Pls answer me sir svs pb 3000 or rel 1508 witch one is best Comment from : vinnu nani |
finally added second X12 few months ago along with Paradigm 525 Power amp adding 2nd X12 made the bass at the back seat so much better, what good about X12 is its size is very good for fast movement for music also may be one X15 might do the job or two X12 might be better for bass distribution cost $100 extra over one X15 Comment from : GTI MK7 |
Hi gene thx for your videos, they are very informative Just one question who is James larrison?? I have heard his reference in your videos a lot but can’t look him up Can you please give the link to his channel Thx Comment from : Jag Singh |

I know its kinda strange but I wanna hear more ppl talking about how Yamaha servo subs are because they're ridiculously cheap for servo subs Comment from : Ubacow |
I have 3 SB-4000 subwoofers and I've never in my life felt anything like what these monsters can do Just when you think they can't get any louder or shake your house any more they always come out swinging with even more power when it's demanded from movies like Cloverfield or Godzilla The bridge scene from Cloverfield is such a good bass test AND surround sound demo Comment from : Ripley HRGiger |
I wonder what is your opinion on the bic acoustech pl 200 or pl 300 subwoofers Unfortunately I can't justify a budget to afford two 1000 dollar plus subwoofer The BIC subwoofers seem very close in specs but half the price And I would think it can produce great bass maybe not hifi, thx certified 🤷♂️ thanks for your videos Comment from : Richard C |
Is the Outlaw Ultra X-13 available somewhere? It’s not on Amazon and also not on the Outlaw website Comment from : ArrogantBaSStard |
Got my PSA tv2112 todayamazing While my sub wouldn't qualify for this list I have to wonder how the author left PSA out? I would put a PSA tv1512 up against any of these Wonder if the author knows about Power Sound Audio? Comment from : Snaus Pockets |
Good list and video, I currently own the Rythmik FV15HP (upgraded from a Klipsch R-120SW, and man was it a HUGE upgrade What surprised me the most (other than size/weight) was the power the Rythmik puts out I'd say the power rating on the Rythmik is conservatively rated as it performs as if it had WAY more power than what is advertised I run it in 1 port setting only running 2db HOT and man, this thing is insane The amount of bass over the R120 is just ridiculous, it literally gives that deep chest hit/pump and it is so refined and clean without needless rattle or distortion I am wondering what it would be like If I ran it 6db hot as recommended on the forums or hell, even a second FV15HP one of these days maybebrbrFor anyone looking at the Rythmik, I can definitely recommend it 100 You will not be disappointed by the power and clean/refined bass this subwoofer puts out My Movies feel way more immersive than before and movie watching has become fun and enjoyable once again Comment from : Shadoku |
No klipsch ??? Comment from : james wilson |
My son had a 51 surround set from Logitech, the Z5000 I think they were called These are computer speakers and are certified THX speakers at ca $500 new, for amplifier, control unit, and 5 speakers brbrThey sounded horrible, so I don't give much for a THX certification Comment from : akyhne |
Why are you wearing headphones? Comment from : BP Y |
One of the best postings period Helped me in my decision to purchased or rather upgrade from my PB-2000 Pro to the PB-3000 and from the SB-3000 to the SB-4000 The jump to the PB-3000 was a big jump in delivery although both subs, the 2000 Pro and 3000 are similar in size and both sound good Comment from : reggieburris |
Paradigm is excellent machine Comment from : Saturnino Dizon |
In a 20x24 completely symmetric/enclosed/dedicated theatre room using a dual sub setup (SVS PB-3000s), would you place both subs on the front wall or on opposing side walls? Comment from : TheAverageJoe |
Im glad you made this video ive upgraded all my speakers this year except the subwoofers and i need some sound advice Comment from : Mrtscrp30 |
2 Dayton audio um18 flat packs, a crown 1502 or similar and a minidsp dsp hd 2x4 Add a bit of paint and a fun weekend in the garage DIY isn't for everyone but it's a pretty easy project and pretty hardcore performance for less than 1800 Comment from : aaron schen |
I would love to see you guys reviewing the Arendal 1723 series Most of these subwoofers are for people in the USA I want to see some alternatives for Europe too And the Arendal 1723 1S looks very nice Comment from : Junker |
Can you please suggest on having two active subwoofers or two passive subwoofers with integrated/ power amplifiers? Which one works best? Comment from : Kiran Kumar Terapalli |
Powdered subwoofers Comment from : Creamy |
Hello Gene First of all, about that issue from some viewers about sharing lapel micplease be quiet, you're probably listening through Logitechs So there's thatbrbrNow, here's my dilemma: I bought SVS PB 2000 and I own passive 13 inch reflex self made I didn't find useful info about whether it's possible to connect pre sub to SVS and passive sub directly to the receiver? Or is there an option to share SVS's amp and drain some of its juice to the passive sub?brbrThank you Comment from : gilaxia |
Couple of funky pups and we oughta be good to go 👍😎👍 🤣🤣 Comment from : Justin Metcalfe |

Love my SVS sealed sub Comment from : Sir Jon Smith III |
I have a pair of SVS PB-3000 Love them Please note you cannot just plug them in and go It takes a little education The SVS Phone app is perfect It explains all the functions, but In addition I learned how to improve them by utilizing the Audioholics Website forum I am actually still learning Thanks Gene! Comment from : Gavin J |
Man, about 1/2 way through the video I looked at the corner and thought wtf, it's 3:30AM?! Oh Comment from : don040870 |
Reduced room modes (smoother in room response), increased head room, reduced distortion, lower F3, smaller subs are easier to move and position in room Multisub! Preach on brother!!! brbrI'd much rather have 2 10" subs for say $800 (RSL Speedwoofer 10s as an example) than one 12" for the same money (SVS SB200 Pro) Nothing against SVS, they are great, but not great enough to overcome twin sub woofers Bose really screwed us up with that acoustimass module in their cube setup We should have never gone away from multiple woofers Comment from : Jeff Sloane |
I use an XTZ 1x12 sub, build quality is superb and I think it's great for the price! Comment from : GG_Sony94 |
No SVS cylinder subs like the PC-2000 or PC4000? Comment from : Stop the FOMO |
HSU subs are the reason why I live with internal injuries The tactile feel and articulation plus price are unmatched! Sent many an SVS back home when auditioning Comment from : Docwho10th |
how do u guys think of rel sub and this high-level input concept of enhancing the lower octave sound? they dont talks about explosion of sub but rather talking about having the sub to handle the low bass and mid bass sound to make the music listening more "fuller" What do u think about it? cant all the subwoofer you mentioned about to achieve what rel is doing by adjusting on the EQ or through DSP ?would like to hear your analysis on it Comment from : Bryan Su |
I think accurate overall bass response is very important like you always say dual Pb2000 pro for around 1500$ would be great i have the dual pb2000s Comment from : harish reddy |
Any reason REL is left out? Doesn’t impress you in their performance? I don’t have any experience with them but I know they get mentioned anywhere I look into subwoofers Comment from : Rodrigo Sandoval |
Have you done a review on the SVS SB 2000 PRO? What bassaholic rating does it get? Comment from : Taz |
I just got a svs sb 4000 Thing is pretty bad ass My previous sub was a 10" 300 watt acoustic research from 1999 So this was a huge jump Comment from : Del Griffith |

Hi Gene, Happy New Year, and thank you for putting out all your videos You mentioned it’s hard to get deep bass with a smaller footprint But what about some of the subs that have a passive radiator? Like Sunfire, Definitive ect? Thanks for your reply Comment from : Jack Chong |
I love you so over the years Gene I'm running a 10in Klipsch I believe it's 150 watts RMS 300 Peak and it runs pretty good I know I should be going dual but my wife doesn't want to get a second subwoofer but I have a fairly small living room so it's not too bad enjoy it and thanks for all the videos over the years Gene Comment from : Steve Mann |
I bought a used SVS PB-13ULTRA for 900$, my whole house is shaking I do not regret buying it to say the least Comment from : Fofus |
I know these aren't on the list but wondering what would be better , svs sb16 ultra or rythmik f18 also I would only get one of those or for that money should I get 2 other subs If so what subs would you recommend Thanks guys Comment from : Tino |
What about goldenear supersub xxl? It is an inertially balanced sub with dual 12" opposing drivers and dual passives all powered by a 1600 watt class d amp Any thoughts or comments? Comment from : Kunal Pandya |
