Question: i have a fairly good grasp at Spanish But if i listen to Spanish without knowing all the vocabulary, will my brain eventually just pick up the unknown words from context or something? brI feel like listening without knowing exactly all what they are saying is futile

I started watching videos in English a year ago I have been doing it everyday on a regular basis and I see a huge progress in my listening skills When I started doing this, I could barely understand most of videos and I really needed to read subtitles, but for now I can understand at least 90 even when my eyes are closed And I feel more comfortable in speaking Thank you 😊

I agree I neglected listening comprehension for a long time and I regret it now, trying to play catch-upbrbrI can speak very well but that gives people the impression that I can understand as well too, which isn't the case, sadlybrbractively working on that now!

Listing is always how I seem to acquire any knowledge the best, if I read a book I have to annotate and re read constantly to get information to sink in, but for some reason if I hear something spoken in just locks in Definitely listening is the largest part of my personal language gains

I agree you have to submerge into the language to learn it That means watching, listening, speaking and completely interacting on your target language brWhen I first start it learning English and developing my listening skills, I would watch tv shows and movies in English If I couldn’t understand I would put the subtitles onbrFor me is easier to understand a word or a phrase if I know how to write it brIf I don’t know how to write something it likely that I won’t identify the word when people are using it brAlso to make it more fun I included interviews of celebrities that I am fan of

May I ask how did you start reading when you start learning a language For exemple I’m currently learning Japanese I learned all the kanas And as in one of your videos i tried to force myself to memorise vocabulary but only when I read a sentence (with the traduction next to it using genki textbook) I remembered the meaning of the word brbrSo all that to ask how did you manage to start reading when starting a new language ?
